: (AP) Bush administration officials are saying that Attorney General Alberto Gonzales will announce his resignation Monday, according to The Associated Press.
The New York Times Web site reported that Gonzales submitted his resignation by phone to President George W. Bush on Friday.
The attorney general had been at the center of a political firestorm with Congress, and senators in both parties tried to make a perjury charge stick against him.
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) considered asking the Justice Department inspector general to examine whether Gonzales' answers to questions from lawmakers amount to misconduct.
"I am deeply concerned about the seriousness of his misleading testimony," Leahy said yesterday.
Ranking committee Republican Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania appears to agree. "I think we need to ... find a way to end the tenure of Attorney General Gonzales," he said at a hearing.
In the House, a group of Democrats have introduced a resolution directing its Judiciary Committee to impeach Gonzales. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who has called for a new attorney general, said the measure had merit but was not atop her list of priorities.
An official announcement was expected later Monday.

He deserved it!!! What he did in firing those 8 U.S. Attorneys was disgraceful (rumored to have been done solely to replace them with people who were more loyal to the Republican party), and the controversy over it finally pushed him out.
Just think, it could have been worse....Just think...at one time Bush had eyes on putting this dude on the Supreme Court...
Still, it's a shame that after all the damage was done, he gets to now just walk away...

I'm amazed at all the people of color that Bush has put in office. He's tried to paint himself as a man of the people but it has backfired on him in the worst way.
All of these people proved to be more interested in the title itself than the true essence of the job. They failed to see the big picture and realize what working for this guy really means.
It's a shame they have to learn this lesson on such a big stage.

Richardson has very good Ideas, promoting the arts in school, because the fact is, the arts help boost math and reading levels. Kucinich and Ron Paul have many of the same goals that would bring and end to this new world order, just different ways of getting there.
The media doesnt acknowledge Ron paul or kucinich actually come in 1st or the top three on ALL the polls. The media is a brainwash mechanism, keep the TV off like I do in my house.

I would be concerned with who the attorney general is. He is the cheif law enforcement officer of the country. He can up and say, black people in poor neighborhoods need to be put in concentration camps for their own safety. It would stand until congress or the supreme court analyzes that order and overturns it.
So coldasschic you need to get your head out of the clouds and get hip to politics. Or remain a lemming walking to your grave.
