: MediaTakeOut.com has just gotten word that Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson has joined the cast of "Sex and the City: The Movie" which begins filming next week in New York.
In the movie, Jennifer will play the character "Louise," the assistant to Sarah Jessica Parker's lead character "Carrie Bradshaw."
So far the four leading ladies, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon, have all signed onto the movie. Chris Noth, who plays the character "Mr. Big" also joined the cast.
The movie, like the show, takes place in New York City and will revolve around the main characters' lives four years after the series ended.
And this isn't the only movie that Jennifer's been working on. MediaTakeOut.com has learned that Hudson recently completed production on Rowan Woods' ensemble drama "Winged Creatures" starring Kate Beckinsale, Forrest Whitaker, Jackie Earle Haley and Dakota Fanning.
The former "American Idol" contestant is also in the studio working on her debut album for Arista Records. So far there is no set release date.
Congrats Jennifer!
I am glad you were chosen for the part. Don't let hatin' females stop you from doing your thang. Fulll Figured-thick as hell you still getting your paper on!!
I wish this page was full of positive comments but here goes the Lynch theory again watch it work
Oh yeah thanks for putting a nice pic up MTO u know u hate on her on a regular
Im shocked because they never really had black people on that show except for the one episode where Samantha dated a black dude..that was it..and shes playing Carries assistant? since when was Carrie that busy that she needs an assistant..lol..theyre probably putting Jennifer there for the comic relief..thats why they cast black overweight women in all white movies(oh tv shows like The View)..to give it more pizazz..congrats to Jen, she can give people something people to look at besides boney wrinkled women
never was a *** in the city fan, I couldn't even begin to tell you who's who in the series. But my question is why would they put the same cast from the series, on to the big screen? I think they should let other actors/actresses do their roles. But congrats to Jen for being selected, I guess I'll watch the bootleg for her. And let's not forget she's also playing the life of Aretha Franklin that's about to begin filming.
CONGRATS Jennifer. I am so proud to see a beautiful black average figure woman doing it big in Hollywood.
To all the haters (don't really like that word but it fits right now LOL) who said that after she won her award it was all down hill.......put that in your pipes and smoke it!
@ Beautynyc - that ignorant *** comment you posted was not warranted. "She's not even sexy", what the f*ck are you talking about? Does someone have to be half naked and shaking their *** around to be sexy???
I'd rather see a talented young black female that has some common sense and no *** appeal, than to see a bubble-headed idiot like B be praised for her looks. At least Jennifer has gained respect in the movie world. What has Beyonce's sexy appeal gotten her? Dumb, arm-candy shallow roles, that's it.
Please people stop glorifiying outward appearances and applaud people for being positive examples and gaining respect for their hard work rather than applauding how many times someone makes it onto a 'pretty list'.
*** three more movie roles, ma is killing it.
Go Jenny, it's your birthday! LOL
And I'm sure her album will be good. She has a really soulful voice, and as long as her label doesn't try to turn her into a pop icon, I'm sure she'll do fine.
We don't need any more songs glorifying bling, money, and ***. I waiting to see Whitney, Lauryn, Alicia & now Jennifer's new material. It's time for a change.
NO MORE FREAK UM DRESSES and talking sh!t. Just REAL music. (Thank God Common is still hanging in there LOL)
JHUD-"Missy Carrie you's knows dat Mista' Big ain'ts no good! I's wishes you's would meets yo' self a fine upstandin' WHITE man. Cuz I's loves you too much to sees you's hurt!"
Carrie-"While I appreciate your concern Fatima. I'd appreciate it if you'd do the job I pay you wages for and stay out of my white business. Are we clear?"
JHUD-"Yessum. I's sorry. I's sorry."
Good way to draw in black audiences. *** in the City is not a urban favorite, if you know what I mean. Somebody was smart.
P.S. For some reason, I don't like jennifer hudson. And since other poster mentioner her, I think I would have like to see Beyonce instead(maybe even solange- god knows she could use some exposure).
Thinking about Jennifer makes me seriously want to puke up the Fillet of Fish Value meal I just had for lunch.
