: MediaTakeOut.com got it's hands on photos of three of the Jena 6 - at yesterday's Hip Hop Awards show. Ummm ... posing on the red carpet really doesn't help their cause. We're just saying....
That's a shame. They are walking around like they are superstars. WTF? Let me get this straight.... 1. I am living in a small, racist town 2. I get arrest for a crime that I (supposedly) didn't do. 3. Everyone from around the country protest for my release and for my charges to get lowered. 4. Now, I'm a celebrity and I'm going on the BET Hip Hop Awards. Oh, how foolish of me, I should of known. That is the mess. I could of sworn that I saw on MTO & CNN that Mychal Bell was in jail. What did I miss??????
Ummmm yeah I'm pretty sure Mychal Bell went back to jail on Thursday as reported on CNN, MSNBC and BET so how was he on a red carpet.... Either way none of them should have had their selves out there on a red carpet, it doesn't look good especially when there is still an ax to grind from the state of LA, they are trying to make these young men look like ignorant, rowdy, violent, irresponsiable indivduals and now they are out kicking it after one of them just got thrown back in jain a few days ago and none of their cases are complete.
@sweetheartn1
I see you have on your thinking cap this morning!
Its ***....
Now they are racial superstars because:
They fought and beat up a dumb redneck for the right to sit under a tree...
BET IS OWNED BY THE WHITE GLOBAL CORPORATION NAMED VIACOM...
THERES ARE WARS GOING ON IN THE WORLD WHERE WHITE PEOPLE NEED THE SUPPORT OF HER 60 MILLION AFRICAN AMERICANS(yes we are woefully undercounted)...
SO THEY PARADE OUT THE JESSE'S AND THE *** TO CONTINUALLY PUT IN OUR SUBCONSCIOUS THAT IT IS
BETTER TO FIGHT FOR THE RIGHTS TO BE UNDER SOMEONE ELSES (WHITEYS) RULERSHIP, RATHER THAN FIGHTING FOR SOVERIGNTY AND REGAINING YOUR OWN NATION WITHIN THESE BORDER OR ON THE AFRICAN CONTINENT!!!
THATS WHAT THEY DONT WANT YOU AND YOUR CHILDREN TO EVER CONSIDER THINKING ABOUT...HAVING YOUR OWN NATION AND YOUR OWN LAWS, YOUR OWN LANGUAGE AND YOUR OWN GODDAM TREE TO SIT UNDER...
AL AND JESSE WORKS FOR THEM AND THEY ARE THE MAGICIANS WHO USE THE OLE MISDIRECTION TRICK OF A 3 CARD MOLLY....
"DONT LOOK OVER THERE(SOVERIGNTY), LOOK OVER HERE(PERPETUAL SECOND CLASS CITIZENSHIP IN SOMEONE ELSES EMPIRE)...."
yall are starting to wake up on various levels now...I like it alot...I hope its not to late.
tHEY (Cointelpro) are just using this non-story and these poor boys as a means to keep us in the marching, singing "we shall overcome" mode...
Anything to keep us misdirected and to keep our minds off our diamonds, our gold, our platinum etc. that is our property in Africa that would serve to elevate us to free and soverign as well as wealthy people again...Thats our stuff and WE NEVER rescinded our right to our African citizenship, and thusly we have an inherited right to our lands that were taken from us and the mineral rights under them...
THATS WHAT THEY DONT WANT US TO EVER THINK ABOUT. Jacob the goddam jeweler getting our *** jewels from white corporate global thieves and selling it back to us at inflated prices...
We are the richest and wealthiest people on this planet and they want to keep your minds on the 401k and sitting under white trees...
Its a Mind ***.
Im bringing the heat today...I feel good.
Think about it now..
When our African ancestors(to those who have African ancestors, im not talking to the rest right now)came to this land in chains, there is no record of the kidnappers standing to open the hulls of the ships and asking each African:
Do you give the rights to your land and link to the Mende tribe? The Bamilike Tribe?, the Ashanti Tribe?, the Makua Tribe?, the Tikar Tribe?, the Yoruba tribe? the Nubian tribe? etc. etc etc.
It was just "Get your black *** off this ship our we'll cut your throats then we'll sk the next one in line to get off the ship...
So how is it that no one thinks to ask for their Soverignty since we never came here as settlers buy as kidnappees?
Dont we still have all the rights to our lands and our resources that we had 500 years ago since it was ILLEGALLY STOLEN FROM US?
Okay they were invited to an Award show and posed for some pictures. What is the big deal? What are they suppose to be doing crying in the pictures? I mean come on how many of us would deny an invitation to the BET Hip Hop Awards if we were personally invited. So all this oh they do not know how to act stuff is way overboard.
@brownskin
leave me alone...we have an audience here of hundreds of thousands and we have to start communicating globally on a whole other level..
This is the right time and the right place for us to link up and communicate something that truly has some positive effect on our future generations and our very survival may depend on it....THIS IS OUR TREE..LETS USE IT PROPERLY.
@cIANNA
THINK.. what have they done..Im mean what have they really done to make us view them as heros?
Fighting to sit under a tree that white people wanted to have for themselves?
Why cant white people have a *** tree for themselves?I personally dont see any problem with them having a place for themselves and clubs for themselves...The JENA 6 could have started their own black club and gotten their own sitting area...Why was it good that they want ask to be running behond these rednecks stuff INSTEAD OF ESTABLISHING THEIR OWN STUFF AND THEIR OWN CLUBS AND INSTITUTIONS?
thats my point.
@brown_skin Flag post
uncle tom
why don't you go sit under a tree and just *** the hell up.
I couldnt agree with you more That Bell kid is back in jail sad to say, and for once I agree with MTO that walking the red carpet at some awards show isnt going to in any way help their cause. They are making light of a serious case that's also becoming global in its intent notice all the increase in the purchase of ropes lately?
uncle Tom
Why don't you go to parliament and voice your opinion. We also need time to relax in here. You're always on some black sh.it. Is it not enough that we have to live it. You're always carrying on about black hair, and people's roots. People need to be free once in a while. It's enough that you have to be philosophical up in here but why do you see the need to bring it to the community board as well. Just chill ok.
Umm okay and why are you saying something to me again? I never said they were heroes. And fact 1 I am ASSUMING that you are a grown man. So you know how to deal with the situation with the tree more logically. They were teens I mean I do not condone their actions but teenagers first think with emotions rather then common sense. So its whatever. All of them should be punished including the white kids who to me were the main instigator and then they all move on with life.
But I do not think they should be criticized for going to an award show they were invited to. That is all I am saying. D@mn if the boys are going to be crucified for every event or party they go to then they may as well stay in the house for the rest of their lives.
@Ciana
Again..you seem to just not to get it...
NO ONE IS BLAMING THESE CHILDREN FOR ANYTHING
THEY ARE BEING USED AS PAWNS FOR A GREATER AGENDA...
If I were a 17 year old boy sent airplane tickets to the BET awards with hotel stay and pocket money, i would go to...But adults have to wath out for our young ones until such a time comes when they can watch out for themselves..
The school was using Mychal Bell just as BET is doing with Jena 6 then. Because just like the mother said the school had no problem with his juvenile record when he was winning games for them but as soon as he get in trouble they turn against him. So like I said everybody is using everybody in this situation.
tHE jENA 6 dont need no *** marches and picket lines and all that ***...
People spent close to 30 million dollars in that protest in Jena 3 weeks ago... 30 MILLION DOLLARS IS WHAT WAS PROJECTED between travel, hotel, gas, food, time off work, etc.
wHAT THESE boys need are good lawyers..Very good lawyers who can litigate these types of cases...These folks could have gotten together and put that 30 million dollars to better use:
1)3 million dollars for a dream team of lawyers
2) 7 million dollars to build a black private school in Jena and plant their own trees.
the other 20 million could have been used to start a "BLACK ANKH" that could serve as our own Red Cross to be used in cases like when Katrina happens...An organization can serve blacks and anyone else who needs emergency assistance , food, clothing and temporary housing.
I'm sorry, but the Jena 6 are NOT heroes. These fools basically beat down a white kid who was a FRIEND of the folks they had earlier issues with. All this white kid did was walk with his girlfriend, see them at the end of the walkway, and turn around before he was attacked. Get your facts straight and stop letting *** and Jesse *** black folks for white dollars and clout. The incident they are in trouble for was after the tree incident. They stomped him and beat him unconcious. They were not fighting for civil rights, they were thugs. And now BET, the celebrate *** behavior network, has them on their red carpet. Why is anyone surprised BET would engage this nonsense? did they invite the black woman who was raped and tortured by the white family in VA? Nah, probably not. But these fools, sure. Whatever. As they would say on the Boondocks, have some *** standards people!!!
lacoisteboi79
I'm gonna keep my truce with uncle tom so i'll be cool with you. I have no problem with being black. I just said that once in a while we need to just relax and have a laugh this world is too uptight. I don't have to relax my hair because it's already curly but i'm not hating on any one that needs to. To each his own, Life is too *** to be wasted on minor details. We will always want what other races have. White people want our skin, black people would like their hair to be a bit straighter. To each his own. That's all i've got to say on that.
Uh no honey get your facts straight. Even kids at the scene (when interviewed) said the white boy was teasing one of the boy’s about him getting beat up at a party. And was also yelling racial slurs. Now I know a good 70% of Blacks folks that said if a white person called them the ***-word they would beat them down. Do I think they should have jumped him? No but the kid was definitely not an angel either. They either should have been suspended or sent to the Juvenile court. Now the whole thing people are mad about is the attempted murder charges which were totally overboard and the white kids who beat up the Black boy at the party got treated differently and penalized a lot less for what he did, oh and lets not forget the *** incident. So once again you need to check yourself.
OH AND PLEASE NOTICE I SAID THE BOYS WHO JUMPED HIM SHOULD HAVE GOT INTO TROUBLE SO DO NOT THINK I AM DISMISSING THEM FOR THEIR ACTIONS.
And Mychal Bell is not in jail for the Tree incident now...
Hes one of our babies but hes in trouble for breaking the law in other cases and if you break the laws of the land in which you reside, you have to pay the penalty...
Its ashame that his parents werent better parents for him, but now he must pay for his mistakes...Mychal Bell is not Martin Luther King..Hell...Martin Luther King wasnt even Martin Luther King...He was just a good man who had flaws and weaknesses like any of us...
People want to write Martin off as just a dreamer, but they never play the first 20 minutes of his speech...Martin was a radical and he spoke out against black people fighting in foreign wars while they are treated like *** over here in this place(I wont call it home)... In fact the reason why the FBI killed Martin Luther King was because he was starting to gain a global voice for peace and he spoke out aginst the War in Vietnam and the war in Vietnam was making BILLIONS AND EVEN TRILLIONS FOR multinational military arms corporations and they werent about to let one negroe prevent them from making trillions of dollars...The Globalists corporations put that hit out on him and it was carried out and completed by their mercenary force (THE CIA , NSA, FBI) who also are the security guards who protect their illegal global drug trade! As long as Martin remained domestic and was trying to integrate Woolworth he could be tolerated but when he started messing with the money flow of major players, he had to go..(As the mafia is known to say).
Now you know.
Great points in this thread...
This is not a good move for the kids in the Jena 6..the minute I saw the headline I thought "that just doesn't sit right" for some reason. Posing and muggin' at a minstrel show (which, lets face it, these commercial hip-hop award shows are essentially mass media produced exhibitions of all the worst stereotypes about us) on BET (do I even need to go there) almost undermines the element of activism that has been put forward.
Just shows how so many people want to use these boys and what happened for their own gain (BET for ratings and to try to cover for their lack of attention most of the time to real issues, Jesse and Al for media attention and profit from the mainstream, etc.)
A little off topic... @ Uncle Tom, good job for pointing out how corporations have co-opted (and the King family has pimped out) Dr. King's image...I hate to watch all these McDonalds and other commercials playing him as "the nice little Negro preacher who had a pretty dream of black and white kids just getting along". The man was a radical, and he wanted to not only end the foreign imperialist wars, but to bring together poor people across all lines to gain fair treatment from big business and corporate interests. He was pro-proletariat and a more broad based activist than many know.
VIACOM! who is defintely no friend or ally to black people...Shame on you Bob Johnson...
In fact of you go back and link them far enough back to their some of their corpotate subsidiaries I guarantee they are linked up with alot of the corporations who were apart of the mass genocide of Africans during the kidnapping trade.
MzKB said:
@Guilty_Pleasure .... that's them .... MTO jacked this picture from the Atlanta Journal Constitution Online's slideshow of everybody on the red carpet last *** ******************************************** Thanks for that confirmation. I just can't trust MTO. Now that I know for a fact its' them all I can say is WTF!?!?!? My people played themselves sticking up for these ***. Did they use the money from their legal defense fund to go to Atlanta and buy new digs for the show? I guess BETs gangster awards is an appropriate place for them to be. Reggie Hudlin of BET also stood up for TI's gun toting ***.
BET wasn't exactly righteous under Bob Johnson's regime (although it has gotten worse).
Back in the day they had shows like Teen Summit that really spoke to young black people and what they were going through. They had news shows that dealt with real issues. Even before the sale of BET in 2000, those shows had been phased out (along with more classy hosts like Donnie Simpson and Sherry Carter) with the network going in a more entertainment based dirction.
So lets not give Billionaire Bob a pass...he started the trend before Viacom took BET to full fledged minstrel show status.

Uncle Tom, I agree with you whole heartedly...why are these boys "walkin' it out" on the red carpet at some modern day minstrel hip-hop award show??? Just comes to show that these boys are sadly misguided...as many said before, this DOES NOT help their case @ all!!! Not to say they should stay in their house and hide, but come on...you have thousands of people protesting on your behalf for what??? So you can have "your drink and your two-step" and rub elbows with hip-hop's so-called elite??? Get real!!!
So what in the hell are they doing on the red carpet?? I'd be in church on bended knee thanking the Lord that I got my freedom back and make it a mission in life to speak at schools and universities all over the world! See this is where people of colors priorities are *** up! It's a wrap...I'm done!
what the hell has this world come to? are you f*ckin kidding me? why in gods name are these boys on the red carpet at a Hollywood event? what the hell did they do but beat up some kid? and trust, they didnt do it for civil rights reasons, they did it to simply whoop some white ***..they need to be in church praising the lord that theyre free, and they need to do something positive with their lives..they are not national heores, the people who protested on their behalf are the heroes..we all know *** well that these boys are trouble makers and were up to no good..they have criminal and disciplinary issues..they should not be made into martyrs..do you think Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks or Ghandi would do some nonsense like this..I want to slap their mommas for allowing them to go out to this event..they could have at least dressed with dignity and wore suits instead of trying to look like Soulja Boy or a couple of f*ckin ghetto *** fools..theyre using their notariety the wrong way..they need to worry about going to college, getting a job or going around to schools and speak to kids about staying the hell out of trouble..this is sickening
Lockstress you took the words right out of my *** mouth! I walked through the blazing sun all the way up from Myrtle Ave to Brooklyn Borough Hall, all in my black, protesting for them, and two of these *** are at the BET HIP HOP AWARDS THROWIN UP SIGNS?! WORD?!
How about being amongst your friends and family thanking God you can see daylight, not COONING IT UP at THE G-*** BET AWARDS!!!
They gonna raise my blood pressure, and what makes me even mad is that they are my peers in age and such. Ugh.
Jena 6, you are not exempt from this, so like the show, WE'VE GOT TO DO BETTER.
theyre not normal teenage boys..they just got out of jail..thats not normal..theyre using their national recognition to party with rappers? they just got out of jail, that means something is obviously wrong with their lives and they need to examine that and see what happened and how they can turn it around to be successful black men..they need to worry about moving their *** out of Jena, getting an education and starting over..being part of the Jena 6 is not cool..it doesnt give them a pass to act like rock stars..theyre feeding into the ghetto stereotype of poor black people not knowing how to act..they get a little taste of "fame" now they think theyre entitled to something..theyre not entitled to sh*t..theyre black men in a white mans society, they need to work extra hard to overcome obstacles..having them at this event is sending the wrong message..if it was the NAACP image awards, cool..but the BET hip hop awards? why and event for celebrities? what have they done to become celebrities? national figures? yes..celebs? NO..their bad *** were looking for trouble and they found it in the wrong place..go lay low and get your life together..hangin with Soulja Boy and Lil Wayne aint gonna get you a college degree or a job
sweetheartntn1..is the truth!
I don't agree with the steep punishments they received.BUt just because of it they effin get star treatment. It shows how stu-pid this can be. My goodness alot people get treated wrongly ona everyday basics where are their star status.. These boys are criminals regardless no one is right for what happened regardless. Some people are so stu-pid I swear. Let me again state I'm against their mistreatment but in no way you should celebrate a criminal regardless!Oh yeah BET does !
their parents *** have allowed their *** to go..my momma would never allowed my *** to go out the f*ckin house after I broked curfew, nevermind got sent to jail for beating up some kid..this proves they have some ghetto *** parents that dont know any better and are probably the reason why these boys became trouble makers in the first place..someone needs to guide them..they need a spiritual leader or someone to tell them that after a national disturbance, you DONT go out and party..you lay low, get your life together, find god, find a new path and stay your *** out of trouble
OKay dummies the caption does not say it is micheal bell it says carwin jones and bryant purvis the bottom line is what they did was wrong the should be charged as juvies and not as adults but they should be charged black or white if they did this to your kid you would be *** and they definately shoud not be at an awards show's red carpet they are not famous nor are they anyone to model youself after they should be laying low out of the public eye. The only thing that gets me is all us blacks are fighting hard for their injustice and this is where they are at what does this tell our kids beat up some white kid (6 on 1) and you will get to go to an awards show too..get real and we wonder whats wrong with our youth no accountability

Watch they drop a album in a few month...I can see it now. THE JENA SIX MIXTAPES, ugh.
------------------------------------------------- CLASSIC comment....LMAO...You know some producer is probably already working on that sh*t...Hell everybody else is pimping this story for benefit and gain...Why wouldn't a few more people?
I can hear it now...
"A yo, big up to my n*gga Mychal on lock down in juvy.....J-Six Bytches"
Lacoste- It's not out of proportion... These young thugs have no biz being at the BET awards show, when all they did was simply come up for beating somebody down. BET should not have invited them, but they did to appeal to the *** population. They are NOT civil rights pioneers. 6 young men surrounding you and kicking, hitting and stomping on one in many ways is indeed attempted murder. It saddens me that black people marched and stood up for these fools, had t-*** made and basically played themselves. Next they'll have their own reality show on VH1.
YOU KNOW WHAT BOYS KEEP DOING YALL THANG...YOUR OWN PEOPLE CAN TEAR INTO YOU WORST THAN ANYONE ELSE..SH.IT TAKE THE CELEBRITY FOR WHAT ITS WORTH AND HAVE A BALL...IF IT WAS ME I WOULD DO THE SAME *** THANG...YOU LOOK GOOD. JUST MAKE SURE YOU BECOME SUCCESSFUL IN WHATEVA IT IS YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE...I GOT YOUR BACK FU.CK WHAT THESE HATERS SAY ON THIS PAGE..THEY DON'T HAVE SH.IT THATS WHY THEY ARE MAD AT YOU BOYS...***.*** EM!!! STUPID *** *** ME OFF..GROW THE FU.CK UP!!!
WHATS WRONG WITH OUR YOUTH IS THE STUPID PARENTS...STOP HAVING BABIES IF YOU CAN'T CARE FOR THEM!!!! TO MANY PARENTS ARE LETTING THE COMPUTER, TV AND THE STREETS RAISE THEIR KIDS...MY CHILDREN KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS AND YOURS SHOULD TO...BUT IF SOMEONE FU.CKS WITH MY CHILD IM WHIPPIN *** AND ASKING QUESTIONS LATER!!!!
OMG!!! SO WHAT!!! Are the mugging someone on the red carpet?? Are the *** walkin with two hoes down the red carpet? Do we know why they were there? They didnt just pop up !!They were invited..maybe they are coming to thank the hip hop community for their support. If they would have went to the Emmy's or Oscars then we would have said they were selling out and ungreatful. These are two young men from a small town.. they prob. received there outfits from a stylist the show hired. Are they hurting anyone? Should they be home singing "Wade in the waters??" Wtf!! and look how quickly there own ppl start to turn on them. MTO knew you all would that's why they posted it with that comment.. to set you all off. Keep in mind these are young guys.. they didnt put themselves in this situation.. they were put in it . LET THEM LIVE..*** !
Beat up a Caucasian boy..Go to jail..Make bail..Get Media attention..Walk the red carpet for the BET Hip Hop Awards..Pose for the camera. PRICELESS!
Hopefully other kids won't do the wrong thing and expect star treatment too. Because that is what it seems like here to me. Yeah, it was nice that they were invited, but why the pictures?? This is not okay. BET should know better.
Get over it! I think the boys deserve to walk on the red carpet and more in light of the debacle going on in Jena.
Everytime someone thinks or says Jena, this sad story will surface.
I think many of your comments are lame on this issue like ladyjejour1. How the hell is BET wrong for letting these boys pictures get out?
It's too sad there aren't more pics of them out at the awards show. Great job BET for bringing the boys out[SPAM]
"Beat up a Caucasian boy..Go to jail..Make bail..Get Media attention..Walk the red carpet for the BET Hip Hop Awards..Pose for the camera. PRICELESS" Ladydejour.. so you think that these boy's did wrong and are guilty.. You think that they went around beating up random white boys? So where should they be now in jail? Well we know that you werent a supporter. WOW..SMH
@queenofNewYork
Excuse me... I don't feel like I need to clarify what I typed on here. I am entitled to whatever I have to say on any topic on this site. If you don't like what I said, that is your opinion. I didn't like some of the things that others have said on here, but I did not go at them. But "Thank you" for your 2 cents. Feel free to respond to this. But no response will be returned. You have a good evening "Dutchess".
I'm not mad at the boys. I'm mad at whoever thought of inviting them. It seem it was for good intentions?? The boys could have fliped it and wore some kind of *** to support Mychal Bell. How would they feel if they was locked up and they see there boy walking around on TV looking like they rockstars. I guess there album will be coming out in a year. Oh no these guys are not looking hot or sexy or what ever some comments are on them. They look ridiculous. With they extra small *** on. Tuck it in and pull your pants up. And throw some creases in your pants too.
people are tearing them down now because after all of the hype and propaganda that the media and our own people created, we came to our senses and realized that they were dead wrong for beating up that white boy..acting like savages wasnt the way to go..there are other means of handling racism and physical violence isnt acceptable..our civil rights heroes never laid a hand on anyone even after they were beat, stabbed, *** at, families threatened and houses burned down..theres no excuse for what the Jena 6 boys did..if their *** were busy studying instead of beating someones ***, they would never have gone to prison in the first place, and none of this would have ever happened
lol wow these comments are funny. Are we forgetting what led to this fight? Funny how now everybody wants to blame them like they were the main trouble makers PLEASE! Eventually when you keep picking with somebody they are going to explode. Take it how you want to. But anyway I hope they all learn something from this situation. I know someone calling you the ***-word can be a trigger for kicking the person *** but they were young so hopefully they learn from this and move on to bigger and better things in life. I hope that their community can become more connected and stop the Black and white side of town thing. All these kids made mistakes the Black and White ones it just happens that they were the only ones who got punished harshly which should not have been the case for just them but for everyone involved in this. But may they have a blessed future and in four or five years have a college degree.
@lacosteboi79..those Jena 6 boys are no good trouble makers..point blank..they were savages for beating down a white boy..they dont give 2 *** about civil rights..thats not why thye beat his ***..they did it because they wanted an excuse to act like savages..and can a Puerto Rican be a "coon"? as you called me?
lacosteboi79, you sound like an uneducated ghetto thug who has never seen the inside of an academic institution..give it up..your "kill whitey" mentality is old and tired..you sound more ignorant than the rednecks that live in Jena..the Jena 6 boys beat the sh*t out of that boy to the point where he was unconscious..they should have known better..you dont retaliate by beating someone down..thats not the way civilized people do things..point blank
Oh Lord, forgive me, but how old is Bryant Puvis!!!!!
Very handsome guys. I see one of those HIP HOP artists went and took them shopping also.
Considering that Mos Def stepped up on the Jena 6's behalf and some other ARTists, it's pretty understandable that they are attending a HIP HOP award show. REAL HIP HOP has the Jena 6's situation written all over it! Therefore, they are in the RIGHT place!
Which, I'm sure they were [invited to] and catered to as well...
You have to remember people that this incident happened a year ago. These kids deserve sanity and they both seem to be very respectable looking guys. I'm sure they apologized and went on with their lives. Why wallow in this silliness?? I'm glad they are OKAY!!!! I'm happy to see them smile. I DO NOT want them stuck in the house, scared of the world. Worrying about something God is in control of! Good for them!
If a white kid can kill someone while texting and driving and later on becomes a spokesperson and celebrity then they are also entitled to empower others about restraint and personal struggles! Live and learn...
We all have our demons and STILL get our party on or whatever through it all! It's called victory! After party at my house gott-dammit! LOL
LOL@lacosteboi79..see, you can relate to the Jena 6 thugs because youre just like them..look at how you take out your frustration..you sound like the typical angry black man..you claim to be educated yet you cant make a point without cursing and name calling..how old are you? what school did you go to?
WOW I just went thru every single comment and wow. I just don't know what to think anymore. If It was me Hell yeah I would go lol You only live once. Lol at the smell like star kist tuna comment. And the mixtape and rap album of the year thats funny lol. But on the real I understand where everyone is coming from. But like I said you only live once lol.
Nods @ gigi2007. These kids were screwed by the D.A. in Jena, but let's not get it twisted. When they beat that white boys *** it wasn't a case of self defense, it was an *** whupping thru and thru. The red carpet is not the appropriate place for them to be hanging out right now. It's not about staying inside and crying, but it's about appearances since their cases still have yet to go to trial. They are standing around looking "thuggish" and have to go to trial and portray themselves otherwise. Why give the prosecution more ammo?
I will defend anything but STUPIDITY, like I said before these kids are not to be blamed but their parents and lawyers. When u have a case like this pending, the best thing to do is to lay low till it is over. This is really no time to celebrate, remember the protest was not in support of what they did but for the sentence. They are not heros and we need to remember that.
i know everyone is not that *** slow...clearly it has their names ON THE PICTURE...duhh no they're aren't Mychal Bell they are members of the JENA "6" it's not the JENA "1" there's more than just him...and this is beyond ignorant...while he is sittin in jail they out here stuntin at the BET Awards in LAST YEAR'S Jim Jones look after the whole country was protesting for their dumbasses
@Lockstress I know that's right! on bending knees praying to the almightly for freedom!
@ Uncle_Tom Preach on Bro!
We as a people have to choose our battles carefully it's just that simple!
This is the reaction to the action! Jena 6 well now I guess the media made them popular but for the wrong reason.
I have a question to ask to anyone who wants to respond.Saying this is them and they are dressd like thugs as some ppl call it and with there pants hanging off there azzes and throwing up signs. Are we suppose to judge every thing that they do because remember these are very young men and they are still going to make mistakes just like everybody else does,THEY ARE ONLY HUMAN...and to be under so much pressure at that age is unimaginable to me.I know that some ppl expect for them to stop being young men and grow up because of the incident but that is not going to happen like some of us want it to go down..I believe until the day one of them die that they will always appreciate the March and I know they will never forget what started it.I am not going to judge these young men for what they may or may not do.....
Okay, I'm sorry, but I have a huge problem with this. These kids just overcame one of the biggest political and legal issues in the decade to date, and now they're parading around like they're rappers that just released new albums?????
They were at Verge in Atlanta this weekend too. Shay and Buckeye from Charm School were there also. If you see most of the photos *** of them, they don't even look humble.
IMO, this was grossly of poor taste and choice. They all need to go BACK TO JAIL, and send their mommas too!
@ladydejour Sunshine..knowone's mad..dissapointed maybe. but I only get mad at things and people that matter. I went back and read what you wrote before..and still got the same message.so next time you should write what you ment. Most of yall know if you were invited to the show YOU would be at home right now trying to figure out what to would wear. Why not the Hip Hop awards. Alot of well respected people were there, so what does that say with how feel about hip hop as a whole? Everyone there had to be thugs? Why dont we all watch the show first and see what part they played if any at all. Its liek a *** if you do with us.. If the post was "Jena6 turned down an Invite to the hip hop awards" there would be 199 comments about how wrong and stuck up they were by shunning a community that stood strong for them. I honestly think that a highly public event as the awards would be the best place for them to let the masses know whats going on in Jena and with Mychal (sorry i spelled that wrong) Bell. I know everyone is intitled to their opinion and i respect that but some of yall should really think before you type.
@Lis and do you see dude with his hands formed like a gun.....not a good look especially with the struggle that everyone is going through with this case and justice and this *** pose at the hip hop awards like the thugs that the white media portrayed them to be.... I no longer support the Jena 6....these fellows got some serious growing up to do when they go to juvenille jail!!! @ Lis I'm moving to the ATL in December finally LOL
This is for all the dumb *** fu@kers on this post....the reason behind being at the awards was to make it known about the JENA 6 controversy not to act as if they were some "rappers". They presented the award for best hip hop video. So I guess their next crime is for living their *** lives. I believe you mofo's just jealous for not getting the tickets to attend the show and have to wait for it to be on TV.
Another reason why we will never progress as a ppl, why is it that some of you feel it necessary to throw darts and namecalling to get a point across?
Ppl, whether you agree or disagree, or agree to disagree, should be able to handle an intellectual conversation or debate without resorting to low-class stupidity.
Lis, you said cornell west is a intellectual thug, because he likes to listen to hip hop music. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ If you're going to quote me, be acurate. All I said was that he was an intellectual thug. Again, you are taking my words out of context and tailoring them to however you perceiving, and that wasn't the case.
@lacosteboi,
I'm not sure if you struggle with reading comprehesion, or you just have selective perception. I never made one remark about sagging pants. My issue is that this was poor choice for the boys to attend this particular even. Also, where were the others? We know where Michael is, but like I've said, they owe it to all the ppl that fought for their release not to be hamming it up at some awards show. I'm gonna continuing to keep saying so, because that's how I feel. I'm not knocking you, nor anyone else for feeling differently than I do about the situation, but you can't call me out of my name or say I'm ignorant, just because I have an opinion that you do not agree with. That, in itself is IGNORANT AND ASININE to think others will see all things the way you do.
Again, I have my opinion, and you have yours...
@lacosteboi,
Maybe....I'll speak....slower....so...you'll understand what I am saying. I was never bashing the boys, I just didn't agree with them attending this event, SIMPLE!!!!!! And I understand that you say now, that I'm entitled to my opinion, but you keep singling my name out, and rebuttling every comment I make tells me otherwise and proves my whole point.
You don't have to say sh!t to me,because now I see your just being a female dog for no reason now and this is my last post to you. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Uh, okay. Whom's being ignorant? And I didn't quite understand that last sentence, but honestly, you told me where your head was when you told me to hush.
I'm not even mad, you probably don't know any other way to express yourself, so I'm sorry for you.
Good luck.....
I don't know if any other ppl are on here from Atlanta, but this has been the craziest weekend ever! Drama's has been popping off since last week when they took Lil Wayne under custody, then on Thursday, someone gets *** in Club Opera in Midtown, then T.I. and Tiny get arrested. And that's just the stuff they REPORTED SO FAR!
I am in Atlanta right now in da federal court building I work in da building where TI was and just saw Tiny come in not to long ago with family and her daughter and she is not arrested, just here to support her man and she looked very worried. But hell she was late!! Please get ya facts straight. TI is in my prayers
A sad day for the purported new age civil rights movement! Their parents should have put an end to this type of publicity...and they know *** well they dont dress like that in Jena louisiana ..wranglers and kmart specials!! The problem is not them 'attending' the event...the issue is POSING on the red carpet like their new icons- this was very distasteful!
I can not believe that these two knuckleheads are actually out on front street and have yet to resolve their legal issues. How dumb and ignorant could they, their parent(s) be to allow it to happen. It would appear that they don't have adequate guidance because only an idiot would have approved of the move.
@ Uncle_tom -thank you, you're dead on right. I'm tired of Black people fighting for crumbs of recognition from the racist white government. When did we accept that it was respectable to waiting like dogs for scraps from the white man's table? It's like "Oh please acceptet me, please treat me like a human being!" It's old, tired, and this ish is never gonna change. I would like my self-respect back please.
@ Brown_skin -don't get mad cuz the truth hurts.
This just another example of how we are the "Blind People" overly concerned with how we look and how we are and what we have, when in reality we don't have nuttin clothes, shoes, all that stuff can be taken away by the White man in a minute. Sure u were invited to the awards but dress like u got some since, and not like you huggin on some lame Rap niccaz sack, by actin like them, dressing like them and why is it as a black people we haven't learned what to do and what not to do and most importantly where such action, thoughts and ways lead you too. JAIL, PRISON, or DEATH! STUPID! And if you dont' already know that then your practically dead any way!! Honestly I felt bad for those kids, but F'em if I am ain't Weezy or Jim Jones. They some lames, wat do u expect??
This will do wonders for their case. Walking around like they are bad *** gangsters is only going to make people feel less sympathetic. All those people marched in support of their injustice and they show up to this like they are stars. when 6 people attack 1 person they should get attempted murder. I don't care what race you are that isn't a fight.
@ Sweetheartntn1 - you are so correct and took the words right out of my mouth. These thugs have made themselves look as ignorant as the *** hanging over their heads. Why come across as hard-heads while the whole Black community sat back and prayed for your innocense. Where is the appreciation - Not in those pics. At least present your self as DESCENT YOUNG MEN - not Boys. Grow the h ell up!
Where were all these cute comments concerning their well-being when MTO was posting, post after post of updates about the Jena 6, Mychel Bell's charges, etc...
Makes me wonder who's really HELPING the cause and as far as those {this isn't a good look for them} comments, I was thinking the same thing about you guys when I looked at how little comments were received about the Jena 6 PRIOR to this post.
So, it took an HIP HOP award show for people to actually leave a comment [and then] be negative at that!!! Some people, I think are immune to negativity and drama.
Sad.
And please, lay off their cloths! That's some of the most silliest comments on here!
@special...your ENTIRE comment was very special!
You took black stereotypes to a new level!
These guys are at a HIP HOP function! Not church or court! I'm sure there were ten more people there who were dressed in casual attire! Are they thugs also???
You want these teens to Grow-up...no mam, take your own advice. You are repeating what someone else is saying w/out thinking, [trying] to sound grown up! Did you even follow through with the march>>>?<<<
Yes, people came together for the Jena 6, but the initiative was taken because of the injustice toward Mychel Bell!
And why are you worried about them NOW, I don't remember seeing you in previous posts about concerning the Jena 6/updates!
I saw this story when it was posted earlier this week, but I thought I'd wait to watch the Hip Hop Awards first before commenting. Honestly, I think this is OK. The guys were obviously invited to the event by BET. And, this presented an opportunity for them to thank BET and other supporters publicly. And, it was the Hip Hop Awards, so I think they were dressed fine. OK, maybe a suit would have been the best image, but they would have been out of place.
They were not fighting to sit under a tree. Racial tensions began to rise after a black student asked to sit under a tree that normally only white students sat under. The assistant principal said that students could sit anywhere they chose to. The next day there were three nooses hanging from the tree. Racial tensions began to rise even more in the small town where the white poulation easily out numbers the black population. Before the 6 to 1 fight, there were a number of racial incidents ( a white student pulling out a gun on black students at a gas station, a white man beating a black minor at a social function). It may have started with something as simple as wanting to sit under a tree but it developed into a very big situation. I don't agree with the 6 on 1 fight. I do disagree with the charges and punishments that they are trying to place on these teens. 22 years is a long time for a school yard fight. They give child molestors less time. I did watch the Hip Hop video awards last ***. It's kinda nice that they had a *** to hang out and to forget about the ongoing legal issues that they have to face. I also think they are dressed accordingly. Lil Wayne had on similar attire.
Im Tripping! I think the guys DESERVE to be able to wear what they wanna wear on the carpet! {lets not forget, its MATERIAL CLOTHES} BUT when your FAVORITE rapper/artist/family memember dresses nice, its OKAY?...and celebrities?? NO,i dnt even think they expected this to go this far, i think them being "famous" is away of them sayn they appreciate the support they're recieving. I COUL go on&on&on...but its a waste of time. IM going to support JENA6 until the day i die, i never think SKIN or COLOR was such a problem. NO ONE asked to be the color they are. this just shows the iggnorance of human beings!
