soo sorry to hear that about your friend. Trust me, I've been down that path too when my first love was killed in front of me, I sometimes till this day blame me for the reason. I was a mental case for about a year! I was replaying the incident in my head, he was coming to me in my dreams, nightmares everything. I was 19 yrs. old and had to sleep with my mother for that whole year cause either I would sit up all night, or wake up screaming and I thought the only way out was suicide. I think god for my mother for hemming me up and slapping(literally) the fuk outta me and putting some sense in my head. Then when my mother died unexpectedly and suddenly in her sleep three years ago, that fuk'd my head up and again I was thinking suicide, but this time the only thing that stopped me was my kids. I had this landlord once, a nosy ass little Chinaman and his wife, they lived in the apt. above mine in a 3 family brownstone. To this DAY I have a suspicion they had hidden cameras in the ceiling with their sick voyeuristic asses.
Anyway..one day I come home and don't you know this little yellow nip b@stard is IN MY APARTMENT? Talking about "Oh I came to do repairs". I was havin none of it. I blacked out. You know I put some KNOTS on that mufukkas head. I whomped and stomped that fool. He ran out, called the cops, I got arrested, the whole nine etc but got released (much) later that night. He was told he had to try and evict me thru the courts. Long story short the case got dismissed because he was a cheap ass and his legal fees kept mounting because I'm smart with mine and was going to walk away with my security deposit plus additional monies if he kept it going.
So yes, God bless you and Imma pray everything turns out alright!
