: Nearly one year ago, MediaTakeOut.com reported that hip hop superstar Akon had 3 wives - and members of the mainstream press scoffed at us. Well now it looks like another news source is finally confirming our initial report. You see, according to the UK newspaper The Voice, one of Akon's wives-to-be has come forward to give an intimate glimpse into Akon's personal life.
In the interview, the woman a former Akademiks model named Rachel Ritfeld really puts Akon's business out in the streets. Below are a few excerpts from the interview.
On how Akon brought up the fact that he had other wives:
There was never any friction. Akon was honest with me about his multiple wives from the start, which never got in the way of our relationship because his wives live in various parts of the world, so I thought why fix it if it's not broken? But now I have had a complete change of heart.I thought I could handle the idea of becoming one of his wives in the beginning but who's to say some other woman he meets won't capture his heart? I soon realized that he was not the man for me."
When she changed her mind about marrying Akon:
The reality check really came when Akon told me he had his fifth child with one of his wives. For the first few months I got completely freaked out because even though I knew he had other wives, I never really thought about him being with them because his main attention was always on me - or so I thought.He does not live with his wives but the birth of his latest child made everything become real and made me realize that I would always have to share the man I love while accepting his other relationships.
On why she split up with Akon:
At first I was very supportive but I began to question that if I was taking him into consideration and he was taking his family into consideration, who was taking me into consideration? The answer was 'nobody' so I decided I could no longer be apart of Akon's world.Ummmm.... we hate to be the one to bring this up. But isn't polygamy illegal in the U.S.????I'm not a bad person, I don't do anything to hurt anybody else so why can't I be one of those women who have a normal relationship and have a family? I want a man who thinks that I'm God's gift to creation and I can think the same of him"
He is only following his cultural and religious tradition and I had to decide whether I wanted to be a part of his customs. In the end I chose to walk away. I wish him all the best and I hope that we can still remain friends.
That is the norm where he is from. As long as he can afford to care for them and the kids, he can have as many wives as he wants. About the ***, my man is not *** and it is all good. He is not my cup of tea, but who is not to say he is the best thing that happened to some women..... He is a talented man.
Rachel lives in the UK - She's a wannbee model, had a reality show on MTV UK trying to be a video vixen but didn't get in because she's from the Caribbean and didn't have a visa to enter the US. Her ex man used to be some 5ft5 white boy who looked like gollum. Akon is rich and black thats a plus plus plus for her!

3 out of 4 of Akon's wives are American NOT African...and they don't live together in the same home like a real African family does. I think Akon is trying to play like this is his custom. I read his bio he was born in the U.S. not in Africa. And cuz that marriage would have been illegal- you would have been entitled to 0, not had medical coverage and not been legally able to take his name. Stupid. Gorgeous genes wasted on a dummy!
