No new great acts on his watch, only two (commercial) great albums, Ne Yo and Ye. Prolly spent all the proceeds of sales on videos for Ye. I think Def Jam thought Jay would get more in the production and promoting of the albums, all he promoted was his own stuff. LL was right, you can't have the president promoting his own stuff. American Gangsta should have been a collaboration of new and classic artists.

Ummm- is it just me, or are folks forgetting about the article that was posted (just last week I believe) that said Jay was offered like, what was it, some millions of dollars at Def Jam? And everyone was in an uproar because heads went flying over there, and was mad at Jay cuz of it? I'm confused...

I don't think he's a very good boss, maybe an okay artist, but not a good boss. He doesn't put in enough time trying to develop artists'.
His length of time in the game is supposed to be an advantage for Def Jam, instead he uses his longevity as an accomplishment in his own songs. He seems very selfish.
If this is true, I know those artists' are breathing a sigh of relief.
Our culture is more than an afro! I am in corporate america and I am a VP in my company. If someone came in with an afro for a job, I wouldn't hire them because in corporate america you have to have a neat appearance. Now if she had her afro pulled back in a net bun, I'd hire her. I had a white man to interview with dreds down his back, among other things, he was not hired. I had a young girl to come in with a pierced tongue. Although it was not very obvious, she was not hired. If you want to work for a company that will allow you ultimate freedom to look and dress how you want, then start your own company or go an work for walmart. I hate to wear suites, and I love my jeans and stiletto's but there is a dress code that I have to adhere to because I'm representing more than myself.

bruklyn.... I don't know. I heard rumors of this a LOOOONG time ago from a reputible sight. NOT MTO...LOL. They said that he isbasically not good at his job. He hasn't brought in any new artist to the label besides Riahnna, and she is a R&B SISTA. NO new hip hop has emerged from the lable siince he took over. Thats why they said HE RELEASED HIS OWN ALBUM. To take the heat off him. To get some revenue in that area. Think about it HIP HOP is DEAD on EVERY major label. its a known fact that hip hop aint pulling them major dollars. DEF JAM thought that by staging J as a figure head it would ENTICE artists to want to come work with a "legend" ( I am not giving him that title yet though). It didn't pan out and they said they was not about to pay out that LARGE salary for no results....LA Rieds front man or not. LA Reid don't sign dudes checks. Like you said LA REID is R&B. J was supposed to be HIP HOP but the accounting records are not proving in his favor. He already knew his time was *** so thats why he decided to do the whole own label with Beyonce thing.
Sorry, but I never understood why he was ever big in the first place. I think his songs are whack, and quite frankly his voice down right sucks, maybe he should clear his throat and swallow some of the spit in his mouth, b/c his delivery is awful.
