: There is some shocking news coming out of O.K. Magazine. MediaTakeOut.com has learned that the weekly magazine is reporting that Britney Spears' 16 year old sister Jamie Lynn is pregnant by some 19 year old guy whom she lives with.
But there's more. Word is that Nickelodeon, the network that airs Jamie Lynn's show Zoey 101, is furious with her for getting knocked up. And they're just about ready to send her to the unemployment line.
Now we here at MediaTakeout.com are pretty dang liberal on our views. But who lets their 16 year old daughter live with a 19 year old dude?? Maybe there's a reason that Britney's been acting a fool all these years...

The words 'knocked up' are not the right ones to use, the word is pregnant. It's not often that we hear of a teen starlet getting pregnant because it's not the way it's done especialy in the US because it's not the thing to do. This was obviously an unfortunate accident that can happen and being who she is does not want to go straigh ahead with an abortion because of her religiousness and because it isn't always right. She has a level head on her shoulders and will do the right thing by her children and not go into a downward spiral like her sister. Just give her the support she needs and she'll do alright. Media Take Out need to review their stories and make necessary changes so they only print stories that are true and not ficticious, not at least unless they want to be sued.

In their interview with the magazine the mother stated that she never thought her daughter would do something like this because she was always such a good child never missing curfew or anything. So I ask you if the girl still has a curfew then why would her mother allow her to have a live in boyfriend. Sometimes common sense goes a long way people. This girl is no different than most American teenage females, they leave the house go out on dates say that they are going to the movies and end up having unprotected sex with their boyfriends without the parent's knowledge. Ok, so she's 16. The only reason her pregnancy is such a big deal is because she's a star. Whether it be her or any other star (teen or not) they're under constant scrutiny. The only difference with her is because she has money and she's famous. Even though they're sisters, she can't be compaired to Britney, because they're two different people. If she was into her religion as she claims, she would NOT be having sex until she got married. People are asking where is the boyfriend's parents, but unlike Jamie, he is of age. Therefore, he made his bed so he has to lay in it. As for compairing her to Solange, there should be no comparing because they are both from different upbringing. Jamie is young, but things happen. Everyone is saying she's a bad role model and what not. But truth of the matter is, she's NOT a role model. What she does OFF the set is HER business. I'm not a parent which is due to the fact that my mother scared the living hell outta me when I was teenager telling me all the horror stories she went through when she was pregnant with me and after I was born, my grandmother threw her out the house, she bounced around in shelters, foster houses and many abusive men trying to secure housing and work just to support me, basically. From that point I knew, I was never gonna be like mother and be a statistic!! Real talk!

I agree with those who say that race is not an issue. This happens all the time to young girls in America, whether black, white, Asian, Hispanic, etc. I'm sure at least more than 1 person on here has had a friend, relative, classmate, etc. who has had a child at a young age. It's unfortunate, but it does happen. and because this girl is Britney's sister and on tv, she's gonna get scutinized 1000 times more.
Now that I had time to think about it, at least the girl did come out and announce the news instaed of just walkin' around hiding the situation. The public and media would have eventually found out about it anyway, especially when she really starts showing. we can all be on this message board and speculate how and why it happened, but the bottom line is it happened. Now she has to deal with it.

I was going to say that her being sixteen and pregnant is not the real issue, but actually it is. Just because teenage pregnancy is common, it doesn't make it right or an acceptable practice. And I'm not saying that from the viewpoint that a teen can't make a good mother. If the girl has her head on straight and her priorities in order, she can raise a healthy happy baby. But the problem arises in the fact that no one at that age should have to do that. When you're a teen, you're still a baby yourself with a lot growing doing and it's hard enough to make it without having to care for another life. Not to mention, that's the end of your childhood. You miss out on all the stuff that you're supposed to enjoy at that age because baby comes first. (Though there are some out there that still think life is a party can carry on as usual and we know how that turns out.) Is having a child a 16 a death sentence? No. Does it make a girl incapable of being a good parent? No. But it's hard as hell being in a committed relationship raising children, even harder when your single and even worse when you're still a teenager. We have to stop being so casual about it. (Once again, not kicking dirt in people eyes about it. Life's life and if you had a child at a young age and did right by it, more power to you.)
As for Lynn Spears, someone should have revoked her custody a long time ago. Sure kids run wild and how they turn out isn't a direct reflection of parenting, but sh!t, look at her track record. Apparently folks don't realize that having a child at 16 basically means that your teenage life is forever altered. Unless you have someone 24/7 to step in and take care of your child then you will miss your proms, school events, hell some miss college.

Wowww, that's really deep! I did not know that she lived with her boyfriend, I just know she said he was her longtime boyfriend. And btw, at 16 years old, you should not have a "longtime" boyfriend... that is way too deep for some one Jamie Lynn's age. It seems like their mother has dropped the ball a little bit. I know teens make mistakes and pregnancies occur but WTH was her mother thinking by allowing her to live with an adult man? It's been reported that Britney practically raised herself too. Her mother has the audacity to be coming out with a parenting book next year. The publisher needs to shelve that book. There's nothing in it that Mrs. Spears can tell me.
I'm quite sure there are a lot of teen abortions in Hollywood. These kids start drinking, sex, clubbing at an early age. I'll bet Paris Hilton has had a few herself. A family member of hers came out and said that Paris has been running her own life since she was a teen. Too many friends and not enough parenting.
@nrealife: Child, when a teen gets pregnant, 9 times out of 10 something is wrong in their household. You may not want to blame your parents but if no one sat down and discussed sexual matters with you, knew your friends, had a curfew, etc., it is rare that it occurs.
I had a woman tell me that she had her first child at 15 and that it was her fault because her parents tried to show her the way and they loved her. I have no doubt that her parents loved her but when I dug a little deeper, I found out there was alcoholism in the family and that is not a functional situation for any family. Look at Fantasia. She came from a 2 parent, religious family but who was spending quality time with those children? That's the gap I'm talking about where a boy can come in and say "I love you" and the teenaged girl thinks she's found her life partner. As a teenager!
Young girls seek the love and comfort of a male because they feel they aren't getting it at home and that's a fact. Don't blame your 16 year old, immature brain for getting pregnant. You were having sex alright but I know you didn't know what the hell you were doing or the consequences. A child usually doesn't make sound decisions because maturity comes with wisdom.
@dedebell: A CHILD of 12, 13 and 14 having a baby is a baby having a baby. No one is mature enough to be a parent at that age. Say what you want but it just isn't true. If you're not old enough to have job to support your children, you don't need any. We taxpayers are supporting these children because most teens are pregnant again within 2-3 years. And what man is he? If he were a REAL man, he wouldn't be living with a 16 yo girl. If Jamie's father was around and knew his job, this probably wouldn't have happened either. First of all this is appalling, the Web and TV seem to be putting this child on a pedestal by putting her on the front page of magazine. She should be shunned, removed from Nick and lose all of her endorsements. This is not the role model I want any child, mines or yours to emulate. Just a few months ago a young black man from Georgia was released from prison for raping a female he had consensual sex with. He was about 18 and she was 16 and they went to school together. His life was ruined and he will hold a criminal record for the rest of his life. But I guess since this is her high school sweet heart everything is all good. No...I don't think so. He should be charged with statutory rape and the mother should be charged with child neglect and endangering a minor. But, of course that won't happen when the child is born it will be on the front page of People and everyone will be talking about how cute it is and how she sacrificed so much etc. Bulls*&t. There is a lot of debate about this child on here. I can agree that if this had been Raven or one of the ethnic cheetah girls it would have taken another twist. Yet, you have to commend Jamie for taking responsibility and not wanting to hide behind hollywood and abort after all children are blessings no matter when they are placed in the womb. The kids who watch Zoey 101 don't even know how pregnancy happens. I watch the show with my 8 y.o. son and love it. Last nite, Jamie Lynn's pregnancy was on the news and my son just turned his head away. She's let her fans down but she's human. Plus, Britney is not on good terms with her mom so I guess mom didn't want to put off the other moneymaker by discipling her.
