: There's yet another casualty in the music business. MediaTakeOut.com has learned that rapper Lil Kim has been officially dropped by her label Atlantic Records. Here's what Billboard is reporting:
On DJ Kay Slay’s Sirius Satellite Radio show “Streetsweeper Radio” last week, Kim shared that she harbors no ill feelings toward Atlantic. She said she was afraid to release her music independently several years ago but is now more comfortable in her knowledge of the music business to work her project.Word is that she still plans on releaseing her new album in May - just without a label.
Guess that means Kim's gonna be driving through the hood selling her album out of the back of her Bentley. Hey, a chick's gotta eat....
Everybody clowns the independent route, but it's better in some ways. True you don't get the upfront money and promotion budget like you do at a major. But in reality you get a bigger split when you go with an indy. Of course she won't sell as many albums but the cut is bigger. At a major she may pull down pennies on the dollar, at an indy she will make way more per album sale. Do your thang girl.

This is a prime example of why rappers should not get on the radio talking all crazy about how dope they are, because when you get dropped *** after that, you look as if you've made an *** of yourself. Don't waste time beefing too much with other rappers in the industry. Tighten your skills up to *** status and save as much of that money as possible while you can, because nothing lasts forever, especially music careers these days.
