I agree with whoever said that black women have attitude problems. Back in my clubbing days, there was a vast difference I would see in how I was treated at "black clubs" versus "white clubs". At the black ones the women never would speak, and go off on you if you bump into them. At the white clubs the women would compliment me, if I bumped into them they would be like "i'm sorry." The Latina women are the same way, very nice, and talkative. The black women just like to stay in there little clicks and talk *** about other women instead of have a good time. I think a lot, not all, but a lot of black women have LOW SELF ESTEEM. We have been told we were worthless all these years, and some of us bought into. This is even true statistically, when you look at all the black women that go out and have kids without being married. Most of the black women I know are bitter and don't enjoy life to it's fullest. They won't swim in the water because they are too worried about their hair or weave getting nappy. God forbid your TRUE hair shows. It's sad but a lot of people on here need some counseling to deal with their lack of self-esteem. So who cares if Mario (aka Chris Rock's son) a Latina, caucasian, etc? It's no one's business but his. Yes, he is Black but he owes no Black woman (maybe except his mom) and none of us anything. I hate post like this because all you have is bashing women of a certain race (mainly Black men bashing Black women) people saying ignorant stuff about certain race of women. I'm sorry, why is it such a chore for black male celebrities to date women of their own race? I think you're only buying into a negative stereotype. There's nothing black women did collectively to encourage black men to date interracially. That's just an excuse that some black men use to be selectively racist. There are plenty of tv shows with non black women who act uncivily. However, it's usually black women that get saddled with the burden of whole, sweeping generalizations that make us look bad as a group in the public eye. There certainly wasn't anything wrong with black women when these black men were being raised (often alone) by their black mothers. And even if it were true, that all black women have attitudes, you could hardly blame them for any proverbial chips they shoulder, given the amount of negative stereotyping that black women are saddled with.

That's not true. Black women are being conditioned to have an exclusive loyalty to black men, that as you can see, isn't always reciprocated. While The number of black men who marry/date interracially is small, black women's reluctance to date interracially is only to their detriment. I've long since given up on black men with the mentality that women of other races are better simply because they are not black. I suggest you do the same.

Not to be sarcastic, but if you read my whole comment, I said that women of a variety of races act uncivilly and that a few black women who act out isn't a reason for our black men to jump ship.
To be clear, I think people should date whoever brings out the best in them, and that's all that should matter.
My comments in regards to black women acting out, come from this, I live in a major US city that is honestly rather poor. I had the type of upbringing where education was everything. I'm not saying this to sound arrogant, but I've experience my own black ppl having a problem with me because of the way I talk or carry myself. Yet, at the same time I know there are millions of young black women who are just like me, and want the same things. I want there to be a more realistic image of black women in media. It's *** up that we're most often seen as loud, ignorant, angry etc, when honestly we have so much more to offer. I also know, there are a few places that show us in a fuller light, but they are so few in comparison.
There are many reasons for that, but I feel it doesn't help when in real life we imitate what we see on TV. There are many young women who act out what’s seen on TV simply because they think it's cute, and it becomes all they surround themselves with. I don't want to be around a man, or anybody actually (black, white, brown or other) who is copying some ideal they got of TV or out a magazine.
I'M NOT SAYING THAT IS THE CASE WITH MARIO, I'M SPEAKING GENERALLY.
I also know that we as black women, are not the only population who have a problem with following and believing in media, I also know we don’t all do it, but (and not to be rude) I don't care about others having this problem as much.

Wow - it's really not that serious. And if you read more carefully, you will see that MorganStateQT said that she presently attends college with her. She made no claim of attending highschool with her. She said she was there when he helped her move into the dorm. You see, I read what you posted, and it was choc full of contradictions. However sincere your sentiment may have been, your alleged intent and what you managed to communicate were two different things entirely. The elitist undertones in your criticisms only undermine your more valid points. Ciana I hate post like this because all you have is bashing women of a certain race (mainly Black men bashing Black women) people saying ignorant stuff about certain race of women. Other women of the woman getting bashed culture coming in gloating saying how much they are better. I mean it is all so ugly and if anyone thinks it is cute its not. And the most ridiculous thing is that this is what MTO wanted. They straight capitalized the word LATINA for drama and you all like dummies fell into it.
I hate post like these were men openly bash Black women (It is disgusting and shows no class or respect for yourself) and women period call a man a sell out if he dates another race shows your immaturity and that you are living in a small box. I use to hate to go on these other sites and every post about a black person someone had something nasty to say but I see we all do it to each other (Meaning whites and Blacks) and its sad.
But I do not really see the Black women representing themselves bad in the media. I mean you have Flavor of Love then you have Rock of Love were both groups of girls Black and White act trashy. But I will admit it seems like Black women are the only ones who get called out on it. But I say we all (As in women of all races) should demand more respect and stop going on these shows like we are nothing but a piece of meat

i really don't think about "a black man's preference". I wasn't born to be the wife of a black man anyways. i was born to find who i want to be with. "black" is not on that list of requirements.

i can't understand how & why people (mostly black men) think its unsettling for a black woman to be up in arms over the lack of quality black men available for us? what is sooo wrong with wanting to be with a member of your 'tribe'? what is wrong with that? i don't see people of other races breaking their necks to date interracially at the rate that the black man does. maybe if black women dated interracial at the rate that black men did, maybe yall would wake the f**k up and see something was a bit off about that!
why, of all the races, us being so few in the US and in the UK, black men make up the largest percentage of men to date outside of the race? that doesn't seem a bit off to you?
it IS unsettling when the men of your own racial background dont consider you beautiful & worthy enough to be with! we are not the legendary blond haired, blue eyed white woman...you know, the woman that EVERYONE thinks is the most beautiful of them all! we don't have other men of other races knocking down our doors in droves trying to get at us.

MTO used to be an entertaining & sometimes funny site to me, but I see that it contributes to negativety and hatred on so many different levels, and I think that I am done with this! I end up feeling guilty whenever I visit this site.
Its easier just living in my own little pro-black-love world sometimes, but I can't help but feel that we black people are doomed! ON SO MANY LEVELS! Its embarrassing!

To begin with there is already so much negativity and tension on this site I don’t want us to add to it. My response is, You say you understand what I’ve written, but you say I’m making generalizations and contradictions. I haven’t. I was raised by a struggling single mother and an in/out father. I have all the respect and love in the world for black women; poor, rich, in between-- whatever. Moreover, college degree or not I am still poor. I own more urban-chic/hip-hop clothing, music, posters etc...etc than a little bit. So my argument has nothing to do with financial status, or someone's choice in fashion, art, music etc. My argument is that, for every "misbehaving" black woman media loves to show us, there needs to an equal or greater number of black women being displayed doing something different. And there are plenty of us to give the world a richer and more factual view of our race. (I’m speaking specifically in regards of adding this kind of variety to entertainment.)
There is nothing wrong with being sexy, wild, etc, but there is time and place. And there is also the fact that you have young women and girls who are so exposed to being sexy, wild, etc, at the wrong times or all the time, so much so, they start to believe it's real life, and how they should conduct themselves at all times. I'm not saying this is a reason for interracial dating, but I am saying that for someone to carry his/herself like something they saw off TV(esp. when that model is negative) is a problem. And by negative, I mean one-sided, I do believe most "misbehaving women” who get those ugly names attached to them are not as simple as they're played up to be. Just like being poor, beautiful, smart, rich, black, white, brown, a fan of hip-hop or punk-rock doesn't restrict anyone to one category or another. Yet, again the problem I'm seeing is too many of our sisters are being satisfied with a one-dimensional look. I'M NOT SAYING ALL, or even a majority, but still too many, and we do have power over the images and the understanding of these images that are projected into our homes and lives.
Again, this is not an excuse to date outside one’s race—it actually shouldn’t have anything to do with it. Whoever someone dates, interracially or not, it should be because the person makes you happy, and has something intangible to offer you. NOT for a status marker or adventure or b/c of some twisted widespread stereotype/ generalization. I am not making any generalizations or contradictions, I mean exactly what I’ve written, people are not one-dimensional and there is a lack of truthfulness and diversity in personalities on TV. And that lack is unhealthy because it furthers negative and/or bias stereotypes.
P.S.—Back to the issue of this site (Mario and his gf) the more and more I look at her pic I wonder if she isn’t of African origin? I think the real problem some of y’all have is she’s very light skin. I went to school with an Egyptian person who I would have argued down to force her to admit she was white, but sure as day she was from Africa—Egypt ( her parents and siblings looked more Egyptian, but you could tell she was theirs). Moreover, you have Hispanics/Latinos who are of the African-Diaspora, and let’s not forget the variety you have from the islands—and last but not least Beyonce’s mama comes to mind. I bet back in her day she was probably confused for white at least once or twice, hell Solange’s son had blondish hair and both his parents are black. The Knowles family may be (part) Creole, but they are generally considered African-American. Creole or not we come in a variety of shapes, sizes and shades, what if we discover this girl is actually of African origin? MTO said she’s Latina, Mario didn’t nor did this girl.
