: The folks over at NY's fashion week are up in arms. That's because MediaTakeOut.com has EXCLUSIVELY learned that this year, Sean "Diddy" Combs will use only African-American models to model his fall Sean John line.
This season's line, which is inspired by a futuristic version of Harlem, expects to be one of Diddy's finest ever. But one magazine fashion editor is already skeptical. She told MediaTakeOut.com, "I think what he's doing borders on reverse discrimination ... There's no need to promote segregation."

reverse segregation???There wouldn't be a need for him to do this if the fashion industry was willing to truely represent the faces of their consumers. There hardly are any African American models booked for Fashion Week at alot of the shows, maybe this is his way of saying hey we exist and we want to be taken as seriously as any other person in this industry not just as the token dark face at one or two showcases.

Oh this is great I have been to fashion week and beleive me all you see is a sea of caucsian models an it is disturbing especially when I look out and a huge majority of the best dressed people on the street are people of color many who support the very designers who would never use them. The New York times did an article last year called black Out which addressed the absence of black models..well if they can use only caucasin models and everyone in the audience sits there with their legs crossed as if it ok.. why can't he use only blacks..but they all should be using black , caucasin, asian, hispanic and anyting in between Oh I wish peole could go to the shows you would literally think that there were no black peole in the world it is all caucasin from the front row to the last stand................
I do 'Glamour Modeling' and have no interest in ever doing any 'runway' work.Even If I did, It would be VERY hard to make a living....plus im just under 5'6" LoL!
I did a huge article in MAXIM and my community went nuts over it and are beyond supportive,because not many people of color get mainstream press....
The high Fashion world is white. I dont care how you want to take it, its fact. It is VERY hard for any type of minority model to get mainstream work, let alone High Fashion. The ones that do are household names.
What Naomi is doing is great. I think Sean J. is brave and taking a huge step to show that females of color are worth so much more than a booty *** and have a rightful place amongst the elite models of the world.

He uses white models in his ad campaigns involving his Sean Jean perfume (I mean, cologne), and like someone else pointed out, I don't recall him using any black women in his ads before (but I could be wrong).

It depends on the theme of the show and who he's trying to appeal to. It said the theme was futuristic Harlem. Harlem used to be Black Hollywood before ATL.
He *** be totally against using models of other races for any of his shows or ads, but if he thinks using all black models will give him the look, the message, and the theme he wants to put out for that particular show, then it *** be a problem.

Tommy Hilfiger said that his clothing line wasn't made for african american men, but yet african american women still wear his clothes, So I don't necessarily see nothing wrong with Diddy chosing to have african american women model his clothing line. SO, I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHEN THE SCRIPT IS FLIPPED -IF IT IS AT ALL TRUE - WHY IS IT IS A HUGE MEDIA DEAL. WHATS WRONG WITH MODELS OF COLOR ANYWAY? THE INDUSTRY DOESN'T SEE IT A PROBLEM OR ISSUE TO USE 20 OF THE SAME WHITE MODELS WITH THE SAME LOOK ....BUT ITS AN ISSUE TO USE 2 MODELS OF COLOR...THEIR COMMENT "OH, WE ALREADY HAVE SOMEONE LIKE YOU." IF THIS IS AT ALL TRUE....WE NEED TO GET IT TOGETHER AS PEOPLE FIRST.
