My daughter is one of the top students in her class, she has never failed a grade, she speaks, reads and writes English,French and Spanish. She takes swimming, gymnastics and jui jitsu classes. She also takes origami classes. Since she was four years old she said she wants to be a doctor, we are and will continue to guide her in the right path so that she will be a professional, productive member of society.
I know that not everybody has the $$ to enroll their child in an out of school program, but even the way we talk to our children, the time we make for them makes a differnce.
If you were misstreated or abused as a child you NEED to want it to be better for your child.
Talk to your child the way you wish your parents had spoken to you, treat your child the way you would have wanted your parents to treat you. and always always say positive thing to them about them so that their self esteem will soar.

What wrong with dancing???? I grew up in the V.I. (Virgin Islands) and I use it wukup because the music of choice was calypso/soca. I Also did reggae dances like the butterfly, the dollar wine...... to name some of the many. I also know you as well did those dances and you hopefully turned out fine.

Many little girls acting one way in front of family, but then getting to school and really showing out. What I am saying is, you can teach your child the right thing, but they have to go agaist this society today,(videos, cable, etc) and have their own mind and be themselves. I talk to my students like a mother, and really come down on them, at least I can say I tried. We can't give up on our babies.
