: MediaTakeOut.com was the first news source in the world to tell you of the untimely passing of music's Stephen "Static Major" Garret. Now we're hearing that Garret, who was a prolific producer who worked with the likes of artists such as Aaliyah, Ginuwine, Destiny's Child, and Brandy, was killed by a hospital's negligence.

On the day of February 25th, Static was in Atlanta, and began to feel sick. His desire was to go home (Louisville, Kentucky) to be around family and seek medical attention. He had a virus. I, still, don't know what the name of this virus was, but it was not a life-threatening issue, I do know. This particular virus affects the muscles, throat (quivering of the voice), as well as, causes drooping of the eye. He had no history of illnesses or anything of that nature.Now that's a shame...When he admitted himself to Baptist Hospital East in Louisville, Kentucky, the doctors presented him with medicine that would treat the virus. The treatment was taking the medicine through a shunt, in the neck, which treats more severe cases of this virus. Quicker than taking pills for days. Though, he didn't want the shunt, the doctors insisted that he treat it this way. The treatment was a form of dialysis to filter the blood of the virus.
He called his mom and told her, "Mama, something doesn't feel right. It hurts." When the doctor's were made aware that the shunt was hurting him, they took it out......it was over! When taking the shunt out, they took it out in the wrong manner that resulted in damaging the artery. He bled to death! They killed my brother, his wife's husband, his kids' father, his mom's son, and the world's musical inspiration.
THATS SO AWFUL. I LOST MY GODMOTHER TO A SITUATION OF THE SAME EXACT SORT. I THINK BACK IN THE DAYS ALL DOCTORS WERE SO MUCH MORE TRUSTWORTHY. THEY HAD MORE KNOWLEDGE, AND NATURAL CURES. NOW DAYS ALL THESE PLAY PLAY DOCTORS KNBOW HOW TO DO IS WRITE OUT ALL KIND OF PRESCRIPTIONS. AND THE PRESCRIPTIONS HAS MORE SIDE EFFECTS THAN WHATEVER IS WRONG WITH YOU. DOCTORS DONT TRY TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF A SITUATION. FIND OUT WHATS WRONG WITH A PERSON, AND WHY, AND THEN WHAT TO DO TO MAKE IT GO AWAY. I HAD A SITUATION WHERE I WENT TO THE HOSPITAL FOR RETAINING TOO MUCH FLUID. I WAS IN PAIN, BUT INSTEAD OF THE DOCTOR CHECKING TO SEE WHERE IT CAME FROM, HE JUST WROTE PRESCRIPTIONS. SO NOW DAYS JUST GET SECOND OPINIONS, GET ANSWERS. DONT GET SUCKERED IN CAUSE SOME OF THEM DONT KNOW AS MUCH AS WE THINK THEY DO. SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT,
YOU HAVE TO TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR OWN HEALTH. QUESTION EVERYTHING THE DOCTOR TELLS YOU, GET 2 OR 3 OPINIONS OF A DIAGNOSIS, AND EVEN COURSE OF TREATMENT. ASK ANOTHER DOCTOR HOW THEY WOULD TREAT IT. GO ON THE INTERNET. TALK TO OTHER PEOPLE WITH YOUR CONDITION. MORE THAN LIKELY, THEY HAVE TRIED AND TRUE SOLUTIONS TO YOUR MEDICAL PROBLEMS. AND LAST, PLEASE GO WITH YOUR GUT, DON'T JUST REST EVERYTHING ON THE DOCTOR'S HEAD, CAUSE YOU ARE JUST A NUMBER AT THE END OF THE DAY, AND IF YOU ARE ONE CASUALTY, THEN ON WELL, BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME.
KEEP IN MIND THAT A LOT OF THESE DOCTORS ARE NOT MADE LIKE THE OLD DOCTORS; SOME OF THEM PEOPLE WENT TO SCHOOL TO MAKE THEIR MAMA'S AND DADDIES PROUD; THEY COULD CARELESS ABOUT THE PROFESSION, IT'S ALL ABOUT THE PRESTIGE TO THEM, AND SO THEY PERFORM AT A STATUS QUO RATE. THEY WON'T SEE YOU AS A PERSON WHOSE LOVED BY THEIR MOTHER, LOVED BY YOUR CHILDREN, LOVED BY YOUR MATE; YOU'RE JUST A NUMBER. TAKE CONTROL OF WHAT YOU CAN IN YOUR MEDICAL SITUATIONS. DON'T SECONG GUESS YOURSELF, GO WITH YOUR GUT.

its sad because we are helpless in these situations..its scary to know that we're relying on the medical staff to know what theyre doing so they can save our lives..sometimes you may have people who are inexperienced, there may be miscommunication, or they just dont have qualified staff..its scary to have to trust your life in the hands of others..I hope that if the hospital was at fault, there is some kind of justice for his family
whoa, major fatal misake of the hospital. i saw someone say to get 2 and 3 opinions, and that does count, but he probably felt so bad that he had to go to the emergency room. It's so sad that you go there to get help and they sometimes kill people.
I feel for his family and hope that they sue, it won't bring him back but at least his wife and children will be taken care of. I never heard of him but see that he was a talented brother.

It sounds like he had Bell's Palsy, but that isnt a virus. Thats sad as hell but Bell's Palsy IS normally caused by a strand of herpes (the cold sore on the lip or mouth) and herpes IS a virus so maybe that is what actually triggered this. that is sad as hell though. and i have never heard of Bell's Palsy being treated with a *** in the neck! I think there is more to this story. SAD!
so sad RIp for months i watch my husband reserch his surgery , he needed to replace a few disk in his back and he took serveral referals and about 3 to six months he was walking and running , he came off all the heavy meds and today he droped like 40 lbs , the best he have ever been. I was so scared for him , but his doctor knew his work and he said i'll have you as good as new ,thast the truth too
Static was a Fellow Louisvillian (Derby City Baby), who will truly be missed...NOT ONLY in the 'Ville, but WORLDWIDE~ His talented will forever be appreciated and never forgotten! Keep his family and the rest of his friends in your thoughts and prayers throughout this difficult journey! We miss you! Rest In Peace Bruh!
R.I.P. Static, You will be greatly missed. I saw him and his wife in the mall about 2 weeks before he passed. They both looked so happy, not knowing that he would be gone in a couple of weeks. that ish is crazy. I'lll miss seeing you around the city Static. Know you and AAliyah can continue to make even more beautiful music together. You will never be forgotton!
