: ATLANTA - (AP) T.I. didn't get to host a Thanksgiving gathering at the suburban home where he is under house arrest, but he will be able to attend Easter services.
A federal magistrate judge ruled Thursday that the 27-year-old rapper, whose real name is Clifford Harris, can be away from home from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday for services by New Birth Missionary Baptist Church.
Harris is awaiting trial on weapons charges. He must be accompanied by a court-approved monitor and one of his attorneys, the judge said.
He was arrested Oct. 13, just blocks away and hours before he was to headline the BET Hip-Hop Awards in Atlanta. Harris was allegedly trying to buy unregistered machine guns and silencers.
He is charged with possession of unregistered machine guns and silencers and possession of firearms by a convicted felon. He was released on bond, but is under house arrest at a home in Henry County.
Harris faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine on each of the weapons charges filed against him.
He had asked to host a Thanksgiving Day gathering at the home where he's staying, but the plan was scrapped after the government opposed it. His bond conditions require court approval of visitors.
If I were the judge I would let his behind stay on house arrest. ask the Bishop to stop by afterwards. you do the crime, now do the time
on the otherhand I am not mad at him for finding a loophole in the system, I would do the same thing if I were in his predicament. may be his last free Easter for a loooonnnnng time
T.I. needs to do the time that he placed upon himself. The only reason he may get a lesser sentence is because of his entertainment name. If he was any other ***@, he'd be sitting in jail to this day..no house arrest, no electronic monitoring...
He may get to attend church, but he's gotta have a monitor with him and he's still on electronic monitoring. He needs to just enter a plea and be done with it. No point going to trial..trust me!
That is wonderful. Everyone needs GOD in their life. I know people make mistakes, but we need to change our communities. All these rappers need GOD in their life, clean up your lyrics, these kids are listening to you, and imitating what you are doing. You can rap without being negative. Let's make a change, and it can start with T.I. Peace.
good *** tip. im glad they giving him that time to get out and see the highways and steets again too....thats a nice lil drive from henry county to lithonia......
I think they should sentence him just as they would any regular ol joe..
TI is a very talented artist. VERY. But I think everybody should be treated fairly becase if the people with money get better treatment with law than the poor folks something is not right...even if a person did come from nothing.
We are all grown we know the law. We know whats right and wrong..peiord. You know you on probation...*** dont be tryin to buy guns. If you got 1 thats enough. What you need 10 for?
Its not the "hip hop police" doin this...its these fools tryin to stay street. keepin it real and being stayin "down" is not gonna help your children. Buddy made almost 20 million in one year....thats what he claims he was going commerical for to get that other side money so he would not have to live they way he did.
I dont know .. I just hope he gets past this and moves on. I am a real TIP fan. Been a fan since early 1999 before im serious dropped and him and psc was pushin them underground mix cds floating around the city in 99 and 2000. I think he is a strong brotha and will get it together...
how the hell did i get to writin all this ***...=/
I know a few other brothers who would have liked to go to church today but couldn't because they are dead because of folks who not only like to have weapons around, but apparently liked to use them (innocent victims mind you)... While I agree with previous posts that yes, prayer works, I know that you must PRAY in order for God to hear you. Also, it would not hurt to not be a hypocrit (sp?)...
YOU GO T.I! I AM STILL ONE OF UR BIGGEST FANS. I HOPE EVERYTHING WORKS OUT WELL FOR HIM. CHURCH WOULD BE GOOD FOR HIM RIGHT NOW WITH ALL THATS GOING ON WITH HIM. WE ALL SIN AND NO ONE SIN IG GREATER THAN THE OTHER. YOU DESERVE THE BLESSINGS THAT WILL COME TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY, BUT YOU MUST REEP WHAT YOU SEW. HOPEFULLY HE HAS LEARNED AND WILL NOT KEEP MAKING THE WRONG DECESIONS. KEEP YA HEAD TI. AND FELLOW MTO BLOGGERS YALL NEED TO STOP FRONTIN, YES I PRAY AND TALK TO THE LORD QUITE OFTEN AND I KNOW GOOD AND *** WELL I DONT GO TO CHURCH LIKE I SHOULD BUT I STILL HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD IN MY OWN WAY AND I DO CALL ON HIM MORE WHEN I AM IN SITUATIONS WE ALL DO.I AINT TRIPPIN, HE STILL WORKING WITH ME!
