: NEW YORK (AP) - There's another side to Alicia Keys: conspiracy theorist. The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter tells Blender magazine: "'Gangsta rap' was a ploy to convince black people to kill each other. 'Gangsta rap' didn't exist."
Keys, 27, said she's read several Black Panther autobiographies and wears a gold AK-47 pendant around her neck "to symbolize strength, power and killing 'em dead," according to an interview in the magazine's May issue, on newsstands Tuesday.
Another of her theories: That the bicoastal feud between slain rappers Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G. was fueled "by the government and the media, to stop another great black leader from existing."
Keys' AK-47 jewelry came as a surprise to her mother, who is quoted as telling Blender: "She wears what? That doesn't sound like Alicia." Keys' publicist, Theola Borden, said Keys was on vacation and unavailable for comment.
Though she's known for her romantic tunes, she told Blender that she wants to write more political songs. If black leaders such as the late Black Panther Huey Newton "had the outlets our musicians have today, it'd be global. I have to figure out a way to do it myself," she said.
The multiplatinum songstress behind the hits "Fallin'" and "No One" most recently had success with her latest CD, "As I Am," which sold millions.
@URTWEETNESS I AGREE WITCHU! I MEAN SHE MIGHT BE ONTO SOMETHIN ABOUT THE GOV'T AN DA MEDIA BUT DID SHE REALLY SAY DIS? CUZ I KNO HOW MUCH SHE LOVED BIGGIE AN I DONT AGREE THAT GANGSTA RAP IS A PLOY 2 CONVINCE BLACK PEOPLE 2 KILL EACHOTHA GANSTA RAP IS *** EXPRESSIN WHAT DEY SEE AN GO THROUGH EVRYDAY!!!
Finally, a topic worth posting about! Might as well put my two-cents worth in here.
Anyone who thinks music does not influence children is kidding themselves. Music has ALWAYS been one of the major influences in our lives. And this gangsta rap garbage is in most cases not what people experience, it's what they pretend to have gone through to try to sell a record.
Don't know about the conspiracy theory -- I don't put anything past the government, especially if any of you know what the tried to do to MLK. However, we have to be responsible for ourselves and our kids -- and that means being responsible with the so-called "music" we make and choose. Alicia is the bomb -- how many of your know about what's going on in Darfur? Or Rwanda before that? The girl is using her voice for positive change...that's better than many other musicians.
actually it's NOT the rap! im so sick and tired of ppl blamin *** on rap!! if u were to raise yo kids right, then maybe they wouldn't be out here *** up!!! all right then if rap gets the blame, then every music of genre that most ppl listen to get the blame too! rock, pop, heavy metal etc...i dont believe that she said that, but imma still speak my mind!! stop blamin entertainment for the way ppl act, and start takin responsibility for yo own *** actions!!!
She is right. Like i tell everybody 'Gangsta rap' is something made up by the press.'Gangsta Rap' is an oxymoron because rappers put all they business in the street ( and alot of other ppls too), Gangstas don't talk that much. Real Gangstas anyway not this nickle-and-dime, hand-to-hand,2bit, street corner nuccas
He's right, gangsta rap isn't mind stimulating and serves no purpose but to cause destruction. She didn't touch on co-intelpro and how Hoover made it a point for a black messiah to never emerge. It's prophecy for a leader to emerge out of north america. *** muslims say he'll have on a red turban, others say he'll emerge from the west. Our government knows what our potential is, black people are the originators of civilization. She speaking the truth, guns symbolize power, but she didn't fully touch on it all.
She's partial right. Gangsta rap use to have a message in it. It use to tell a story. Listen to ***.W.A. it wasn't talkin about just killin brothers and shi.t. It use to talk about the harsh realities of our communities and abuse by the police and drugs. Now its about pushin drugs and still about *** the police but now we talking about killing brother out right in our songs. So I can't blame it all on gangsta rap cause if u ever listen to D4L,UNK, OR LIL MAMA OR EVEN BOW WOW THAT SHI.T CAN MAKE U KILL YO *** SELF.
Nice baby nice. Tell em !! The mental mind game started way way before Rap music however. Let's say we start with the image of a YELLOW HAIRED Christ. If that's what Black's think God looks like then what do they think about themselves. The sad AND EVIL part about it is, Yellow haired ppl with DEAD/STRAIGHT hair were considered a curse from God during Biblical times. The Devils just fliped the script like everything else in history to make themselves look good and God's TRUE CHOSEN ppl look bad. *** shame !
GRANTED SOME "GANGSTA RAP" MUSIC IS AIIIIGHT BUT AT THE SAME TIME LOOK AT SOME OF THE STUFF IT GLAMORIZES...BEING DISRESPECTFUL TO BLACK WOMEN SELLING DRUGS..AND 9/10 BODYING SOMETHING.. AND I DONT THINK SHE MEANS BLACK PEOPLE KILLING ONE ANOTHER JUST BY GUNS I THINK SHE ALSO MEANS BY SELLING DRUGS WHICH RUIN COMMUNITIES AND END UP DESTROYING FAMILIES... IN THE MOVIE AMERICAN GANGSTER HE WAS SELLING THAT *** THAT AND MAKIN MONEY BUT EVENTUALLY *** WAS JUST DYING LEFT AND RIGHT IN ONE SCENCE THE FEDS BROKE INTO SOME APARTMENT IN THE HOOD AND FOUND A BABY SITTING NEXT TO A DEAD PARENT WHO OD'D ON THAT *** ... LORD ONLY KNOWS HOW LONG THAT BABY WAS THERE IN THAT APT AND THAT *** WAS A TRUE STORY..
THE SAD PART IS HOW MOST AFRICAN AMERICANS REALIZE THAT THE GOVERNMENT WANTS US 2 LTERRALY KILL OURSELVES (SLOWLY)...HENCE THE LIQUOR STORES IN EVERY HOOD ON ALMOST EVERY *** CORNER...PUTTIN DRUGS ON THE STREET 4 *** TO SELL AND GET THE HOODS *** UP THEN LOCKIN *** UP FOR SELLIN THE SH!T(CUZ THE GOVT AINT GONNA SEND UNCLE SAM OUT THERE IN HIS NICE SUIT TO SELL THAT SH!T 2 THE HOOD, ITS 2 OBVIOUS).....THEN WHEN *** GO TO JAIL 4 IT AND THEY GOT KIDS IT DESTROYS THE FAMILY, IF ANYONE IN THE FAMILY DEVELOPS A CRAZY DRUG/ALCOHOL ADDICTION IT DESTROYS THE FAMILY... AND BEFORE YOU KNOW IT PEOPLE DYING LEFT AND RIGHT AND THE FAMILY UNIT IS *** UP...
A. Keys must have fallen down and hit her damned head somewhere.
Biggie and 'Pac great leaders? Come on, now. Pac was a convicted rapist and Biggie was slinging dope. Future Obamas they were not.
As for gangsta rap encouraging brothas to kill each other...at least here in Detroit, *** never needed any extra reasons. We've been killing each other for years.
Real talk from the Motor City.
Gangsta rap was created by our people and financed by white people..it was a ploy to sell records..these young black men walked into the record companies offices with the clothes, the gangsta talk and the lyrics, and the white people told them to keep it up, keep it as gutter as possible, talk about as much murder and drug dealing as possible..AND WE ATE IT ALLLL UP! like suckers! we really believed these dudes *** people, stabbed people and didnt give a *** about the law..so we wanted to be tough like them and imitate what we saw..meanwhile, these people never participated in any of the crimes and brutality they claimed they did..its just as much our fault as anyone elses for allowing this monster to thrive by buying the records, watching the videos, dressing like them, talking like them, trying to live the lives they talked about in records..I mean, Tupac went to a school for performing arts and studied dance and theater and liked to write poems..he wasnt a gang banger or drug dealer..but people wanted to believe the more "exciting" persona that was created
Slavery's Greatest Sin was not ONLY in dividing our people, BUT in Actuality Dividing Our MINDS & ULTIMATELY OUR PEOPLE. What Alicia has supposedly said IS THE TRUTH and to the VERY Slow who are in denial and ashamed Of what the music really is and is doing NEEDS to read and research more. I have spoken to Known killers And Soldiers. And basically they said when they're going on a "hit" or "Mission". They listen to 50Cent, Metallica, Marilyn Manson and even Elephant Man. To get hyped . Why do you think music is used for working out (increasing Adrenalin), as Therapy in Spas. To Entice a romantic mood etc. Even bringing back memories etc. I can go on and on. Why do you think our young men dress like that now? Punked out and Gothic, Emo ( Rock Music Influence). Ghetto low wearing pants etc ( Rap music and Dub Music Influence). But Alicia And ALL My people. Do you know why our people are REALLY Killing out each other? LACK OF LOVE FOR OUR OWN. ENVY, GREED, ARROGANCE, ARROGANCE, IGNORANCE. I know I'm young but yet I can see this and have been seeing it since I was a child.
Man some of ya need to wake up and stop sleepin. Rap has killed our people, over and over. When I used to listen to it I was ready to ride;PERIOD!!!
This music has killed the image of our people; PERIOD!!! I can't stand to hear our people justify lyrics that belittle them, whether woman or man; PERIOD!!!
Ignorant is as ignorant does. Wake up and think about what you are saying ... its time to get our heads out of our *** and stop being the laughing stock of the world.
We have no respect because we don't even give ourselves respect!
I love Alicia because she is a vocal and political artist. I wasn't feeling the new Alicia because it seemed like they were trying to turn my girl into a puppet or a brainless Beyonce clone look alike with pointless songs that don't talk about anything but how attractive women are and what everyone can buy. They tried to silence her but I am happy to see she is back. Gangster rap was started on the Westcoast and was financed by record companies. Everyone seems to forget about the East coast / Russell Simmons contribution of "Hard core" anyone remember that which was a response to gangster rap. Black people images are going to always be jacked up if they are not in control and if when they are in control that don't care about what they put out. White Record execs just like the Black ones just want make money they could care less about the black people. Don't ever kid yourselves and think that entertainment wants to get political or really care about blacks. Artist censor themselves just like artist have more control of what goes on in videos then they would like the black public to believe. Its entertainment fairy tales nobody is real. They use blacks and exploit the culture and the things they create always have always will. They just put a few black faces up there to make some of the simpletons think that blacks have progressed. Just look at that daymare called BET and what a bad joke it has become.
It is so Fake now... LOL You can take any artist in rap and look at the image they put out. Its hillarious you can watch how they change, lol how they try to be whatever is in. If being a murder is in they will be that murder. If being a gangster thug is in they will be that. If being a drug dealer is in they will be that 2. If being a *** is in they will try to make the people believe they are that. If being a big baller is in then you will see a whole lot of bentleys and mansions. If being a suave business man is in they will try to be that. If being a boss is in they will say they are that 2. If being conscious about the community will sell records they will try to turn into Huey Newton and get all militant and conscience. lol You have to be *** to think rap is real, rap is faker than a 3 dollar bill. Or if its a old artist still trying to be cool they will collaborate with all the hot new people out to try to stay in. LOL! Jay Z has been able to do that and stretch out his career for at least 6 years and the public doesn't even notice. He is a real smart business man. The music industry is terrible all the way around. They will sell their music their songs to corporations without even thinking twice no matter what the corporation stands for. You guys think musicians care about you... LOL They do charity work for the PR and Tax Write-offs. So at least some of them are trying to do good for people in other countries not so much for Black America the group that they constantly exploit and get rich off their culture and give so little in return. The music industry does not give a *** about black America they *** Black America.
This is why I absolutely LOVE her.....She is a strong sista with a conscious mentality. (All you people on this site always whining and promoting the Willie Lynch light vs. dark *** take notice...Blackness isnt about skin tone...its about one's MENTALITY). A lot of artists in her position would not speak out due to fear of offending a "mainstream" audience, but she laid it down, real talk.
Its no coincidence that the kind of rap that gets most heavily pushed and promoted is the kind that is the worst influence on black youth...the kind that pushes more and black youth towards the prison industrial complex that many of the powers that be profit off of.
Conscious, positive hip hop didnt die with Public Enemy and X-Clan....Its ALWAYS been there and is still there today (for those who bash all hip-hop, please peep Immortal Technique, Mos Def and others like them)....But those in control of the industry are not trying to push images that are positive towards black people. They push images of our men being violent towards each other and of our women being degraded to influence our youngest and most impressionable to remain in dysfunction.
Like Spike Lee said at the end of School Daze...Its time to WAKE UUUUUUP!
A Keyes is the truth and I am glad she has not gone far over into the fake BS side of the biz. The entertainment industry does have a real serious color complex thats so very obvious that it does not even need to be debated. As a person of color I often find the images of film and television to be more disturbing then anything. Black Hollywood is also responsible for the reinforcement of negative and stereotypes images of people of color just like the recording industry. The entertainment industry is black Americas worse PR standing for absolutely nothing. Blacks reinforce a divide by feeding into certain stereotypes of people within the race based on color the same way White America does and at times even worse.
Alicia, Your a sweet heart but your being taken in by some guys who wanna get publicity for their own agenda!
By saying this, you disrespect where and by whom the music came from.
ask Ice cube, Dr. Dre and Easy-E (RIP) if the goverment helped write their shiz...Im sure you;d get an animated respense. The government was trying to not only *** down these artists, but convened committee panels in congress to try and outlaw it!!! Thats was the real mess, trying to stop the voice of a group of people trying to get their voice and storise heard.
Tupac and Bigg had real beef and it was escalated for money and was exesparet by Suge *** and Sean Combs all for a larger profit...and all of us who bought into it, are guilty too.
How many of us love that shiz...The real conspiracy is why do we (human beings) always try and destroy ourselves, then blame each other then wait for someone to save us??
Did someone really say "rap is poetic"? "Gangsta rap" is not poetic and thats what Alicia was talking about. Hip hop is poetic, there is a strong difference. Its the reason Kanye is rap, 50 is gangsta rap, Common is hip hop. There is a difference between all three and if you do not know it, you are part of the problem. I wouldn't say "Gangsta rap" was created by the government but I could go as far to say it is a HUGE problem with our people today. 1st we talk about being poor and how we are mad that we are poor, then we call well off black people "sell-outs" so white america laughs at us because it actually has a negative effect to where we WANT to be poor and ghetto and "hood".
blah blah blah ! the white man this the white man that ! more excuses !
we need to start taking responsibility for our own actions !
f***k blamin the gubment !
blame these nyggas out here actin a fool ???
i live, breath, and die gangsta rap, but I ain't out here killin nyggas alicia ???
only a weak minded nygga of which there are many will allow gangsta rap to inspire them to commit crime idiot !
Alicia, u ain't from the streets no more bytch ! talkin that "black power huey newton" *** with yo "high yella @$$" !!!
f***k outta here wit that *** !
i still luv u girl, but only a real folk would check yo @ss like me bbgirl, respect !
Assuming she actually made these comments, I think its sad for those of you that see no truth to this. If you turned off BET and your idiot boxes for a minute and read a book or found a decent hobby we'd be better off. Its also pathetic that in our society when every time someone hints at a more than like true conspiracy they're labeled a 'Reverend Wright"... BET, the media, and mainstream hiphop love to keep you ***/gs dumb and servantile and self-hating. If you think Obama is gonna suddenly make everything how it should be simply by becoming president you're sadly mistaken.
"...what do my lyrics got to do with this sh!t/Scarface the movie meant more than Scarface the rapper to me/Still that ain't the blame for all the sh!t that's happened to me/Are you sayin' what I'm spittin'/Is worse than these celebutantes showin' they kitten, you kiddin'/Let's stop the ***!ttin/Till we all without sin let's quit the pulpittin'..."
-JayZ "Ignorant Sh!t"
Stifling rap music won't do anything about (for example) the mother who doesn't give a *** whether or not her kids go to school everyday, whether or not they've eaten, etc. I'm not too big on gangsta rap myself (I prefer the likes of Lupe and Talib but I'll throw on some D-Block or something when I'm ready) but I realize you can't blame the music alone. There are plenty of people that are able to listen to gangsta rap and not engage in antisocial behaviors. Music is only an art form; there's more to the story than that.

HUEY NEWTON WAS LIGHT SKINNED AND HE WAS A CO- FOUNDER OF THE BLACK PANTHER PARTY. JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE YELLOW DOESNT MEAN THAT TAKES AWAY FROM YOUR BLACKNESS... YOUR VERY IGNORANT... JUST BECAUSE SHE DOESNT LIVE IN THE HOOD DOESNT MEAN SHE CANT SPEAK ON PROBLEMS IN OUR COMMUNITY... GROW UP AND OPEN YOUR MIND...
I'm sorry but nukkas were killing eachother before gangsta rap. now gangsta rap isn't making the situation better and it is contributing to the destructive of morals and values in our community but it's the not core problem.
and as far as black being about skin tones, malcolm x once said there is 101 shades of blackness
@keeno1
Parents have to do a better job. Just like kids can watch Superman and understand they can't fly parents must teach them that they can't be a gangsta just because of a rap song. Black people stop trying to blame the music all of these issues were around before any form of rap. Ice cube made a song called "Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It".
I couldn't have said it better. Dark skinned people should attack light skinned sistas and brothas either. Black comes in many shades.
AK is on point folks in power would rather have 50 Cent than KRS representing Hip Hop in the mass media with wanton musical violence, stereotypical images and subsequent wealth gained from it to be imulated around the nation(globe) by those who look up to these type of artists.
Community Revolution In Progress turned into the CRIP's just like Hip Hop has turned into Hip Pop-it didn't happen by accident. The powers that be formulate the enviorment to sustain these societal manifestations to their advantage by manipulating them to fit whatever negative, degrading stereotype they wish to promote via said vehicle ie gangs(Crips) or rap(ganster).
Critical thinking emcees/groups(Chuck D, Paris, Mr Lif, Mos Def, X Clan, Brother Ali, CunninLinguist, EDO G, Immortal, Sista Souljah, Remo Conscious, Common Sense, Brand Nubian, Sunz Of Man, Spearhead, A.***.I.R., Cyne, Kweli, etc) get pushed aside for the flavor of the month g-rapper who stagnates instead of elevates one's mental mind state with mindless dumbdown mu-sick full of ghetto rants and chants.
I remember shows like "A Different World" had folks in my hood amped up about going to college just like g rap can amped folks up in that similar manner. Music is the key to the soul and can unlock emotions held deep within our person.
Most mainstream corporate sponsered(BET/MTV/ClearChannel) gangster rap glamorizes that lifestyle as oppossed to Ice Cube, Scarface and those who moreso reported on the situtations in their music in the late 80's/early 90's.
Fyi, Missmedia81, "Gangsta Rap" started in Philly ie Schooly D, Ice T was visiting him at the time and heard Schooly D's- PSK(What Does It Mean), then flipped it into 6 In Da Mornin'.

You all should listen to a song by Ice Cube called "Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It" (youtube) he addresses the issue of putting the blame on Gangsta rap. When Harpo did her "town hall meeting" on rap she should have allowed the people who she is pointing the finger at to take part, but no she would rather allow Superhead on her show to promote her book SMH.

Well you know who the ploy came from? The gangsta rappers themselves. They wanted the public to think their lives of growing up in violent eras with no women whatsoever to respect was the norm. It was the norm. Only for them and they made money off of that mess.
Karma is great though. Those singing all about the b*tches and hos will have a nice time seeing who comes into the lives of their own daughters.
She is 1000% correct. Here is some history for those who do not believe to research. I have first hand info on this, I was there. About the time NWA came out with *** the Police we had The Iran-Contra scandal, guns for drugs. NWA song was taken by the media and turned out of proportion. How many of you remember the disclaimer to the song? When the music was made into fear, it was a wrap. A majority of the funding for this new fangled gangsta rap came from the gubbermint sponsored drug dealers. I can name names and the networks( TX, CA, WI, AL , MI, NY), but I would like to keep my health. Groups like SNP, Heavy D, those that were called the sell outs, commercial rap etc were pushed out by the promoters et al on directives to promote the gangsta side, which glorified drugs and gangs. Biggie and Pac were killed to prevent Pac from becoming the man he was destined to become and encite an all out war amongst the coasts. Many of our successful black heads in the rap game are working directly with the powers that be, who are against us. Some do it by choice, others have no choice. Alicia, my dear, I feel your pain. I once tried to make a stance as you, although I am not an artist, I was involved deeply in the game 20 years ago. I saw it coming and it is now here. Be careful sweet heart of what you say, it will destroy you. You must do, not speak. Just make the moves girl. Make the music. SPeak if you are not afraid. Once you take this path, there is no turning back. I support you with all my heart and soul. There are not enough of us who want to uplift our race.
@Coop
My problem ain't with them saying it....it's how it's let through for all to get brainwashed. The people who do gangsta rap are being used by the people in power to blame all rap music for everything that goes wrong in the ghetto's across America.
There are alot of emcee's that don't do gangsta rap, but they are hurt when things are *** down because the music is getting a *** rap.
We...the consumer are the ones who buy this music so it's a lot of room to point fingers. The bottom line is that some people do get charged up and do stupid sh*t when they listen to certain hardcore artist.
We need more balance in the game cause our youth are the ones that are going to suffer the most.
It's not 4 everybody...simple as that.

@realdeal, hiphop was only protested by congress and all da upper gov officials becuz hiphop wuz gaining so much popularity that it was finding its way into their homez. their precious white sonz and daughters could recite a pac lyric faster than a george washington speech. although pac may have said sum controversial things *** his songz, he used that to lure u *** to his real revelutionary messages. this was subliminally getting nto da heads of dese kids. most of dese kids dont even respect their parentz biggoted attititudes. this is y pac wuz merked. he was 2 influential. we r gettin confused wit comparin 2days bad music wit da past. we all kno dat after pac and big got merked, da south rose up. no limit and cash money changed da game. and da south aint 2 far away from dat slave mentality. and we all know that black culture change ery decade or so. i could remember when blacks were susposedly susposed to b poor and dusty, now da stereotype is dat we got bling bling expensive clothes with big rimz. we lettn dese crackaz dictate out culture.
IDK if I can blame it all on Gangsta Rap because Gangsta Rap was INSPIRED by Gangsta Movies like Godfather, Scarface, Goodfellas etc. So I guess I sorta agree with Alicia on that! Like Jay-Z said Scarface the movie is MORE Impactful than Scarface the rapper *not his exact words but still* But Gansta Rap did exist, it was really started by Ice-T & NWA in the West long before this Biggie & Pac beef! The West Coast started Gangsta Rap, maybe not on purpose, maybe they were just venting about life in LA and getting things off their chest but became labeled as Gangsta Rap!
Alicia, I believe you. Don't you see that happening today. All these killing. I have never approved with gansta rap, when it started with ***.W.A., it was downhill from there. This *** being glorified, and these kids today listening to it, and acting out what they are raping about. It is sad, but it should have never gotten to this, I blame the politicans, that let this music be played and glorified. I deeply believe if something was done sooner, my generation(late 20's), and the youth today, would be more respectable to women, and themselves. I love Alicia, very intelligent woman.
Coming back in to give A. Keys her dap for even speaking on the topic.
Hip-Hop as a whole has done a 180 over the years...we used to look down on ignorance but now the airwaves are polluted with it and we just sit back and act like it don't exist....some of these people don't even have flows and have nothing to really offer the game...they just saying catch phrases and dancing around and this is a hit??lol
The real emcee's who have something to say are not really getting no love because they not dancing in they videos...it's a time to dance and a time to listen. Nobody wants to listen anymore...they just want to dance...so when war breaks out yall going to be the ones still dancing, only it will be to avoid catching a hot one in ya azz.
It comes down to this....the ones that are happy with the way things are in hip hop can have the weak sh*t. The same thing that make you laugh will some day make you cry. watch what i tell ya.
-------- LIVE, LAUGH, LOVE AND LEARN...THEN TEACH
What I think is that some of you can't read, comprehend and think for ***.Gangsta rap came after all the Goodfellas, Scarfaces etc., and who was running the ***?Italians and Jews.So should we blame the core of it all?I really don't hear music today that is "gangsta" rap, all I hear is "club" music, maybe except T.I. and Lil Wayne but people love the hell out of them.I don't know people seem biased *** hell when it comes anything to do with how black people make their money.People just need to raise their kids first and foremost, but you know working a long hours prevent you from doing that or those who rather stay in the club and leave their kids home with their momma.
Finally someone bold Enough to tell the truth Hip hop is a powerful art And the gov't knew that by Infiltrating it they could Control the messages that was Being sent by artist like PE, Brand nubians, rakim and others Once that *** went out West And NWA and Ice T started Saying *** the police and cop Killer the gov't stepped right In along with c delores tucker And tried to *** down hip hop . When that *** didn't work They just decided to change The direction(message) in hip Hop. AkA hip hop exploitation. Hip hop today is *** at It's finest to dumb black People down and destroy us.
EVERYBODY AND THEY MOTHER (INCLUDING MINE) LOVED SCARFACE (THE MOVIE) IT WASNT JUST YOUNG BLACK PEOPLE ..GROWN PEOPLE LIKED IT TOO IT DIDNT MATTER IF YOU WERE BLACK, WHITE, LATINO, ITALIAN, CUBAN, I DONT CARE WHAT YOUR NATIONALITY IS SCARFACE IS A CLASSIC AND EVERYBODY AND THEY MOTHER INCLUDING MIND) DID NOT GO OUT THE NEXT DAY SLINGIN YAYO TAKIN TRIPS TO CUBA LOOKIN FOR SOSA. JUST LIKE WE ALL LOVED THE GOD FATHER TRILOGYS. I AINT TAKE A TRIP TO CORLEONE ITALY LOOKING TO JOIN THE FAM
Man, why are some of y'all talking about talking the godfather and so forth? We are not talking about how some of our people tries to emulate these white folks (peans), where talkin about what our people are doing.
Ironically a lot of the rappers have named their selves after these Mafia types which should raise a red flag, but then that helps further the cause of Alicia Keys; *** it? These rappers are naming themselves after harden criminal type such as Gotti, The Don, Scareface, etc ... or what about ignorant names such as C Murder, Mac 10. Then theres young dro ...
Our brothas name themselves after Mafia type, Murders, and green stank (dro), an many of us say "don't black rap". If Europeans own the industry then it should be logical that they are running the message of rap, which ultimately means they run they rappers, who in turn influence our kids.
Logic 101. There are rappers in the industry who wanted to have a positive message but sold out to be known, thinking that they were going to get a chance to give there original message; finding that they couldn't because their contract was written in blood (not literally).
You know what, if some of our people actual go through some of the teachings on my blog y'all will see what's up! There are lies from the beginning and without identifying them we remain lost in illusions spitting out confusions.
Peace!~
Alicia is the bomb, she knows what's up. Gangsta Rap is not all that and rap is very played out. What really gets me is that alot of rappers call females *** and hoes and it *** me off. There are also lyrics about gun killing and stuff. I don't like rap too much. I only listen to fun stuff I don't really listen to gangsta rap. I hope my sister doesn't either when she gets older. Maybe rap will be better then but now, it's kind of out of control.
P.S. This does sound like something Alicia would say because of her messages. She still sing about love while not promotion of self hatred.
Don't get me wrong, I not a true fan of her singing, but I buy her music because she's positive. Why are some people saying this doesn't sound like Alicia when all they have to do is listen to most of her lyrics and see that this is very much a statement should would make?
She hasn't said anything that wasn't true. If they hurts her career, then she is a martyr and have been slain by her own people. It wont be the first time and it wont be the last. Any time a brotha or sista speak up and tell the truth, it is their own who have slain them or didn't stand by them. She tells the truth while in the mean time, many of our people will continue to promote violence in music toward woman, men and children.
They will support, bling bling which cause our boys to run out there and try to get it by any means necessary; even if that means killing there fellow brotha to get the material girl. The material girl got that from not wanting scrubs, and our sistas singing 'can you pay my bills', or why you all in my grill ... lol.
Wake up and rethink the messages we heard and what our kids are hearing ... lol
"Isn't it funny how the blind can't *** accurately but still manages to hit the deaf and dumb, while those who can see fall *** of the mark?" - Dr. Herman Patton III
Dr. Herman Patton III was talking about people such as Alicia Keys who can see but she will miss the mark, but blind folks like our rappers alway manage to hit or deaf and dumb!!!
my god!

The reason I referenced Ice Cube’s song is because he speaks only of people blaming gangsta rap. If kids are listing to the song and thinking they can be the next Godfather then there is something wrong at home if a child sees superman and the goes and tries to fly out a window do you blame the actor or director?
But you are correct everything ain’t for everybody. So if don’t like it don’t buy but don’t look down your nose at those that do. You may eat pork and don’t, to each his own.
And if Al *** is speaking for me Somebody get him the word and tell him i don't approve Tell him I'll remove the curses If you tell me our schools gon' be perfect When Jena 6 don't exist Tell him THAT's when i'll stop saying b*tch---B***TCH!
American Gangster---Jay-Z
My theory on "gangsta rap"
If there is a demand for ignorance it will be supplied.
Just like liquor stores and other forms of selfmutilating items in our community, if you are stupid enough to be engulfed by all what destroys us, whose fault is that?
Liquor *** life span. Eating unhealthy and not taking care of self doesn't help and so much more we do to lessen our selfworth. We support music that serves no kind of positive purpose BUT we are quick to want to endorse and defend it. At some point, we have to admit we are our own selfdestruction.
This ish gets on my nerves! The same people that won't listen to Ice Cube would view Scar Face or the Sopranos with no problem.
I think gangsta rap has an influence on weak minded brothers, but it never had one on me! It was just entertainment like the Godfather was. Or the Good Fellas etc. except one wins an Oscar, and one gets condemed!
@soap_box
Now let me get on my soap box. Why is that we can't see that this battle over lyrics is the new way of dividing us. Look at what happened with Imus he pointed the finger at the culture and Harpo did a show about rap for the first time and had not one of the artist that she and other were bashing on to speak for themselves, but she has Superhead on to promote her book. You have the older generation crying about Nas wanting to name his album Ni**a but leaving out that *** Gregory had a book called Ni**er. I've heard black "intellectuals" say how in the past James Brown would say "what happen to soul" when talking about gangst rap but they fail to mention that he had songs talking about hating snitching and witness intimidation and even beating on his girlfriend.
anyway there's oppression the drug profession flourishes like beverages refreshing sweet taste of sin everything I've seen made me everything I am bad drug dealer or I victim I beg what came first moving chickens or the egg this is why I be so fresh I'm trying to beat life because I can't cheat death the truth is the shamelessness ain't stainless is that aim this is you know who's game this is move coke like Pepsi it don't matter what the brand name is I stand behind mine everything I do I'm a man behind mine I'm not a angel I'm sure but every *** before I lay I drop my knees to the floor and I pray
Pray --- Jay-Z
I TRULY CAN'T BELIEVE HOW UNIMAGINABLY STUPID SOME OF YOU DUMB *** NI_GGAS ARE ON HERE WITH SOME OF THE COMMENTS YOU MAKE. FOR ANY DUMB SON OF A *** TO SAY THAT IT STARTS WITH THE PARENTS OR IT'S THE PARENTS FAULT MUST NOT BE AWARE OF THE FACT THAT THE GOVERNMENT HAS TAKEN YOUR GOD GIVEN SPARE THE ROD SPOIL THE CHILD IDEA OF DISCIPLINARY RIGHT AWAY SO THEREFORE HOW CAN YOU START SOME SH*T AT HOME WHEN THERE'S A SINGLE MOTHER OUT THERE WHO HAS A TEENAGE BOY OR GIRL THAT HAS OUT OF CONTROL HORMONES AND SURROUNDED BY CHAOS AND CAN'T EVEN PUT A FOOT UP THEIR *** WHEN THEY GET OUTTA CONTROL BECAUSE IF HE OR SHE DOES THAT PARENT MIGHT HAVE TO GO TO JAIL. THEN IF THAT HAPPENS, THEY MAY LOSE THEIR KIDS TO A SYSTEM THAT DON'T GIVE A FUGG ABOUT THE CHILD AND IT TURNS OUT TO BE A FUGGED UP SITUATION ANYWAY. ALICIA KEYS KNOWS EXACTLY WHAT THE FUGG SHE'S TALKIN ABOUT. SHE'S 100% ON POINT. ANYTHING THAT *** SOCIETY IS DONE BY THE GOVERNMENT, IT AIN'T GOT SH*T TO DO WITH STARTING AT HOME. IF PARENTS COULD BEAT THE FUGG OUT OF THEIR KIDS LIKE WE USED TO GET OUR *** BEAT BACK IN THE DAY WITHOUT THE THREAT OF GOING TO JAIL TRUST ME THEY WOULD BE BEATING THE FUGG OUT OF THESE LITTLE OUT OF CONTROL *** AND NOT EVEN HALF OF ALL THIS CRAZY SH*T WOULD BE GOING ON OUT HERE AND THAT'S A *** FACT. SO I SAY TO ALL YOU DUMB ***, STOP BEING STUPID AND LISTEN TO WHAT THE FUGG ALICIA IS SAYING AND STOP TRYING TO CHALLENGE THE SH*T BECAUSE SHE'S ON POINT. GET ON POINT WITH HER OR JUST SIMPLY *** THE FUGG UP AND REMAIN A STUPID MINDLESS IGNORANT *** NI_GGA LIKE MOST NI_GGAS ARE.
STAYPOPPIN01: stop letting it get on your nerves because our people were purposely broken down to become weak. It is a weak brotha who doesn't stand up for his people and promote those to change the negative image of our people while promoting foolish accusations.
One of those accusations is that many brothas watch the Sapranos or The God Father. I for one don't watch it personally because they have a lot of *Nger* talk crackin off.Secondly, if what they do don't benefit me or my people, I don't support it. What I do watch is our black shows and I buy or black movies in an attempt to support black business, but even then I watch carefully what I allow to go into my system.
If you support the degradation of our people then support it ... Every nation have them ... Malcolm X called them house negros. If the Europeans who own what we listen to is promoting these foul messages and you don't see a problem with it; then I liken you to the house slave who thinks his master is a good master and we *** complain about the terrible work our brothas and sistas are doing in the field; if you know what I mean!
The house negro gets mad when the field negro point out the injustices of the master. Isn't it ironic that we still have house negros who get upset when those sistas and brothas in the field complain (i.e. Alicia Keys)about the jobs that the master is making the field negros do?
lol ...
@coop1974a,
YOU MAKE SOME *** GREAT POINTS. IN FACT, MY POSITION WASN'T TO AGREE WITH ALICIA ON HER DISTANCE FROM SO CALLED GANGSTA RAP BUT I DEFENDED HER TAKE ON GOVERNMENT PLOTS OR AT LEAST THAT'S WHAT I HAD IN MY MIND. I DO HOWEVER SEE A PROBLEM WITH EVERY *** ON THE RADIO BEING LIL BOOSIE AND WHAT I MEAN BY THAT IS EVERYBODY ON THE RADIO IS THE SAME NI_GGA OVER AND OVER AGAIN TALKIN ABOUT THE SAME STUPID SH*T OVER AND OVER AGAIN. BACK IN MY DAY THERE WAS VARIETY AND OPTIONS. YOU HAD EVERYTHING FROM GANGSTA RAP SH*T, POSITIVE RAP SH*T, FUN RAP SH*T, DANCE RAP SH*T, ECT AND THEY COULD ALL COEXIST, THAT'S MY PROBLEM BUT OTHER THAN THAT I DON'T BLAME SO CALLED GANGSTA RAP FOR A GATDAMN THING BUT I DEFINITELY THINK THAT CORPORATE SLUG *** LIKE CLEAR CHANNEL SHOULD FOCUS ON ALLOWING THE PEOPLE TO HEAR VARIETIES OF OTHER SH*T TOO INSTEAD OF PUMPIN THE SAME STUPID SH*T OVER AND OVER AGAIN BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW THAT OTHER SH*T EXISTS IT JUST DOESN'T GET AIR PLAY. LET'S CUT THE BULLSH*T AND GIVE THE PEOPLE THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE WHAT THE FUGG THEY WANT TO HEAR INSTEAD OF FORCING THEM TO LISTEN TO LIL BOOSIE ALL FUGGIN DAY.
@SOAP BOX,
I TOO NEVER UNDERSTOOD NI_GGAS FACSINATION WITH ITALIAN SH*T EVEN THOUGH I LIKE THE GODFATHER BECAUSE IT'S MORE OF AN AMERICAN HISTORY LESSON IF YOU REALLY THINK ABOUT IT BECAUSE IT SHOWS YOU HOW FUGGIN CORRUPT THIS COUNTRY WAS THEN AND STILL IS TODAY AND IT ALSO SHOWS THE POSITION OF THE BLACK PERSON IN AMERICA ON THE LEVEL OF CRIME, POLITICS, ETC AND THAT POSITION WAS VERY LOW CONSIDERING NO BLACK PEOPLE WERE REPRESENTED IN THAT MOVIE SO THEREFORE IT PRETTY MUCH SHOWS HOW POWERFUL NI_GGAS WEREN'T AND STILL AREN'T. WE THINK POWER IS TRYING TO BE LIKE SCARFACE AND SPENDING RIDICULOUS AMOUNTS OF MONEY ON CLOTHES, RIMS, CARS, MAKIN IT RAIN, STRIPPERS, LIQUOR, ETC, ALL OF WHICH WON'T BRING YOU BACK ONE FUGGIN PENNY IN RETURN. MOST OF US ARE A BUNCH OF FUGGIN ZOMBIES LIKE *** OF THE LIVING DEAD.
kattdaddy2: lol ... you sound like a fool ... you calling this woman a B because she expressed her concerns about the effects rap have on our kids?
"Superman that Ho"? or whatever had everybody trying to do that boys dance and you don't think music influences people. Every time a song comes out with a new dance we do it because we are influenced to try it ... and you don't think that the white man have a hand in the direction he wants the music to go in???
You cuss this woman out and say she ain't from the streets? When I hear people like you talkin, I laugh because a person who ain't been through nothing or busted a grape will talk the mess your talkin.
Internet gangstas ... their fingers are hard but they are weak. For what reason do you have for disrespecting our sista[s]? You called her out of her name like she stole something from you ... did she? Did you catch her sleeping with a dog which promoted you to call her a female dog?
If you have a problem with what she is saying then express it like a man and don't call her a b because a real man doesn't have to resort to foolish antics. Secondly, you can tell that you are a victim of gangsta rap ... look at the way you use the word 'B'.
lol
@illslogic
My only issue is blaming gangsta rap, but you correct there are many other forms of rap to listen to radio stations and video channels don't give people enough choices it was better when the video jukebox was still on because you could call in for what you wanted to see. Even the "gangsta" rappers can't get some of thier songs put out. Styles P had a great song called I'm Black but it got no play.

All this Rap is suppose to uplift our people ish is ridiculuos, if I'm in the mood for that I listen to KRS ONE, PE, or Big Daddy Kane. Sometimes I just want to party!

The theory that The govt. at the time promoted F#$% the police at the time to deflect attention from the Ira Contra hearings is very flawed! for a few reasone...
1) The hearings were televised and in the paper every freakin day...the reason it "blew over" is that republicans are goot at killing ppl and just ignoring it and it will go away (George Bush is doing the same today)
2)You are subjgating the artists themselves. Gangsta rap was a voice rising from the streets...and was years in the making,,,this was the birth time of Crack heads and it was an epidemic...and the streets were crying out...
someone also stated they couldnt believe the govt would allow such music to be made.....This is America right?? why would they stop it?? even though they tried.
and my final point to the man who said the govt started the hearings because of F the police to get more attention for it..
The Panel started because of AL Gores wife hearing her daughters Prince tape. On the Purple Rain album was a song called Darling Nikki, she was horrified at the sexual content and formed the Parental Advisory Committee,,,which late banned 2 live crew...just so your in the know
last I checked, Prince was NOT a gansta rapper

In my opinion Alicia keys is an very educated sister.. i mean who else out there graduated from high school as a valedictorian? who else went to college and got a degree... At least she can articulate and spell and speak well... I totally agree with her listen to her she is trying to spit some knowledge in your hear... Stop idolizing 50 cent and try to learn
@ Fatou, it is not knowledge that shes spitting, its garbage...radical and intentionally misinformed. The black panthers get alot of disenfranchised young people to believe there conspiracies because black people have lots of reasons to NOT trust the govt so they will believe almost anything regaurding a conspiracy against black people./ from the govt.
Think for your self! Read and educate your self Make money take care of your family believe in God and treat others with respect
do these things and you will succeed in life! Leave the rest of the trash for the weak of mind
STAYPOPPIN01: it does sound phoney doesn't it? Anything real have to sound funny?
First, my first post said, when I used to listen to that music I was ready to ride;PERIOD!!! So yes, I definitely listened to it. I became conscious and let it go.
Secondly, you can listen to anything you want but we are not talking about you, we are talking about the effect that it is having on our kids. You have to understand that I'm not against rap, I'm against gangstaism and how it has made it way into rap. I listen to rap still to this day and will not stop but I don't give into that gangsta b/s and this is what Alicia was saying when she spoke out against gangsta rap. She didn't come foul at rap, but against gangstaism in music.
Third, you help black people become successful in their home business ... then you are the Man and many of our brothas and sistas need to take pointers from you on that level, but that doesn't excuses the acceptance of music that is putting our people into a critically negative position.
I'm a business owner as well and I commend you above and the efforts you make into the community. We need more brothas and sistas like yourself. Good times!
----------------------------
coop1974a
You said its the house ngas that is pointing the finger at gangsta rap?? You got it backwards!
First and foremost, a lot of these brothas you think is gangsta rappin is closet punks. They are rappin a creed they don't live by ya dig? Your mind is warped! You call a brotha and sista a house *** because he speaks against the speech of murder through lyrics? Your ok with our kids talking about beating a 'B' as$? You call me the house ***? Your working for the negative influences that are killing our people.
If a woman flatten my tires then that means I must of did something that I *** have been doing. If she is just crazy and she slashes my tires then its time to get an R.O/Restraining Order.
The problem that you are having with what I'm saying is that you don't get it. There is no reason to put our internal business out in the streets. If we are having problem then we need to solve them internally and not put it out there for display or make it seem as though we justify such foolish behaviors. The world is looking at us and they are laughing.
We represent more people then what we realize, and when we promote foolishness; then we cannot be seen as nothing else but a foolish people.
Simply put!
Yea right, Ms. Keyes. I grew up in L.A. in the era of the Crips and the Bloods, way before gangster rap. Cut the ***. As long as we keep looking outward instead of inward, we'll never solve our ***. We are 7% of the U.S. population, but we are 27% of the prison population. Black women are getting AIDS at a faster pace than anyone. Who ya gonna blame for that ***? Personally responsibility is important, dammit.
Shag11 ... I grew up around that as well and was one that was fo sho about my gangsta in that day. I'm still young, do get me twisted so your point is correct as well. In my last post that is why I mad it extremely clear that we have problems but that is something that we need to keep to ourselves and workout within our own communities. Putting out there on video ain't the way.
Secondly, black people in America make up 20% of the WORLD prison population, yet America is only 8% of the worlds population. We are 13% of Americas population (those that have been counted).
We definitely need to take responsibility for our own actions, but we would be a fool to not recognize that there is a force behind our situation.
Even as a DJ I agree with Alisha. This issue is waaaaayyyy bigger than us, yet so many of us get so caught up in B.S.......The government have had a great influence in twisting this issue about, but it's time we come together and realize all that hating we do to each other only breaks us down as a people....We're the only race in the world that get on record and refer to our women as ***, ***, ***, and ourselves as ***....No other race is making records disrespecting thier women or let alone themselves. It's been time for us step up our game, come together and fight the powers that be that continue to help make ourselves look ignorant. Bottom line, syep up and take responsiblity for what you put out there as artist. As a DJ I don't even *** with artist who's only mission is to continue to break down the black community, make millions, then our stupid ***, award them with platinum plaques and grammy awards. THINK ABOUT IT !!!!
@soap_box
You were the one that originally spoke of field and house ni**as I just pointed out the players. I also pointed out people like you look down their nose at the "gangsta rap" crowd and instead of the message and yes there is a message. So sit in the house and sip the lemon aid. Most people that choose call each other brother and sister are just trying to show how "black" they are but are no realer the the gangsta rapper they bash. I call them house ni**as because they choose to point the finger isn‘t that what house ni**as did.
I've also already said that "gangsta rap" is just entertainment I've even said that most the rappers are saying what they've seen from a far.
The reason why she did it was not the question what name for her would pop into your head was. Good try at the spin but you and I know b*tch is the name you would give her.
The reason the world is laughing at us is because of people like you that are belittling your own. You don't see Itailians doing it over mob movies and shows. Or other euros doing it over things that show them in a negative light.
The way that we as a people a bashing are own and letting Imus and KKKramer off the hook is the real foolishness
You are correct you put it simply.

Alicia is right. And who ever thinks music does not influcence either do not have any children of their own and they need to do some more studying. Or they are a child themselves. Yesterday my preteen son, the most well behaved child anyone would ever know, aske me for a rubber band to put around his 8 dollar bills. As of lately, he has taking a liking to Hip Hop LMAO. I know what he was going for. But like any good parent, I puts the smack down on anything leaning towards the streets. Yes he will try things because of his peers and what they watch and hear. But it's up to the parent or guardian to direct so of this non sense in another direction. I told my son no, he was not getting a rubber band to put on his money. Instead I gave him a money clip. Does the same job?? I don't know, but I know it sends a different message. I want him to be a man not a thug.

I just love Alicia. I actually am not head over heels about her music, which might be ironic, it's good but it doesn't "wow" me....I just love her as a PERSON. And yeah, I don't know her, never met her but her spirit and her persona is captiving. Alicia by far is a VERY intelligent woman. A woman who isn't afraid to speak her mind, knows about the world, knows what's going on...the more and more I read her interviews and see her on tv, the more and more I become impressed with her persona and intelligence. I'll buy (not download) her music before anyone else. *** a Beyonce, Rihanna or whoever else, I fcuks with Alicia all day long. That being said, I'm just gonna add my two cents. This is what I interpeted from her comment: I don't think she was trying to say that rap or "gangsta rap" as an entity was bad. I don't think she was trying to diss the pioneering artists of so-called "gangsta rap" but rather speak on how the media calls it "gangsta rap" when it really isn't. And she's absolutely right. The *** media really did fuel that East coast vs West coast bs and because some *** were dumb and didn't realize it, they bought into it. That's where the violence came from. I guess that's what she meant by it having a negative influence on the generation (esp young, black males). Anytime you have a person or people who have a strong opinion about something (esp about race, equality, etc) and speaking about injustice you get the media labeling you as this tyrant or "gangsta" who is harmful to society. The white media labeled NWA, Ice T, Public Enemy as "gangsta rap". There's really no such thing. I fcuks with Cube all day long. I LOVE Ice Cube. It's not his fault that the place he grew up was messed up, he just decided to speak on it. I don't care what anyone says...music can influence you but everyone has their own moral code. And if you went out and robbed someone after listening to a NWA record, that ain't on them, that's on YOU....
Its so funny how you get branded a "house n*gga" when you speak out against foolishness that you see in the black community. My friends and I were discussing how it is so funny to see people driving around with spinners or these huge rims on cars, and they live in the projects. How in the hell can you justify some fraggle-nackle *** like that, or people who refuse to wear anything but name brand clothing, and they don't have a pot to *** in? Music influences us. I'm a teenager and I see it all the time. At a party it can set the mood, you play a fight song some knuckle heads are gonna get out of control and wanna fight. It is a proven fact that music affects the way we feel and think. Its even in the bible that you have to be careful about allowing certain things in your spirit because it can influence you. You are always gonna have exceptions to the rule. Some people are very strong natured and can block those things out, but for the most of society they are not. I feel thats the reason things are the way they are. People are not careful about what they allow there children to see and hear. Children dont need to be exposed to everything especially some of the music thats out their, because they don't have the reasoning that most adults do. Hell, these days adults don't have any reasoning. They can be as childish as teenagers with some of the mess they do.
I don't think she was saying Gangsta rap is to blame I think she was saying the "government" and the "media" made the who "gangsta rap" name up and hyped it up in order to point fingers at the "black" community for all the violence going on. She has a point with Pac and Big too. We all know that the LAPD had something to do with BIG's death so you'll never know....
Stinka
Where in the hell do you get your information? Pac was bred a Black Panther, who's mission was to only help black people.
That Tupac Recreation Center that his MOM built in Atlanta was his idea that she carried out after he passed.
Pac fed plenty of ghetto folks and put as many dudes and females as he could on his records and gave some of the writing credits to new commers even though he wrote the songs!
You need to check out 2 Pac interview Sept 96 on You Tube two days before he was *** and see what his plan was before he was tragically killed and stop talking out of your ***!!
Stop disrespecting LEGENDS!! What in the hell are you doing to uplift our people? Or are you a hating *** white boy???!!!
@Stinka. That's what the media wanted you to think about Pac. He was a well rounded person. Too bad we had to find this out after his death. The media only showed the negative side of Pac. Biggie on the other hand, your statement fits him. He was a *** i g g e r til the day he died. Pac was a smart man and the government had to put a smack down on him. With his mind and following, he would have been too powerful. Young, black and gifted is a no no. It's a shame some can't see through alot of this BS that's laid out to trap us. This is a complicated issue. There are two types of black American. There are decent blacks with intelligence then there are *** i g g e r s. *** i g g e r s can't and won't change.
I agree, the government was scared of Pac because he probably reminded them of Malcom X. (Not stating that Pac was Malcom X just using it as an example). They knew that Tupac had people listening. White folks were getting scared. To Stinka you must've not heard Pac songs like Brenda got a baby and Keep you head up. Pac was a storyteller, telling real live stories and showing us what really was going on.
*** Alicia stroke-face ***. This *** is wack and she dont know what the *** she talking about. Beyonce kills this *** on everything anyway. Who the *** is Alicia? More important what the *** do this dumb *** know about gangsta rap? *** stick to straining on your wack *** songs. She got to be the most overrated *** out there. I'll even take Rihanna over this dumb ***.
@Kool---Deg, did you forget to take your Cymblata this morning?

@Kool---Deg, did you forget to take your Cymbalta this morning?

f the positive speach about looking in the mirror and all that other bs cause it dont work. The truth is these dudes now days I are N*****S stupid school drop outs and we put them up on a pedastule so high that they think there some sort of god. F all the rapper who dont have anything to rap about but guns, drugs, money and women. Yeah its not the main reason young black man are *** each other but it does have something to do wit. One example is the snitching factor yes it comes from the mafia and other groups etc. But they made it so important to the point where now if someone gets killed in the hood its cool to not snitch and thats how the game aids in the killings they promote negativity and it needs to stop but it wont you see dudes still tryna be like big and pac but they dont understand that they too will have the same outcome as them.
@mamasaid
and another thing why do people keep on saying that the government was scared of pac thats bs the government wont ever be scared of one person there more scared of people uniting and its obvious pac wasnt trying to unite he poured gas on the east and west beef.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Totally agree!! Pac could have stopped it instantly if he was trully trying to unite the people or try and be a Revolutionary..
He just took the *** Road and crashed and died...
@mamasaid: You sound STRAIGHT ridicolous and PROVE once again that BLACK people are quick to point the finger and make ignorant, one-sided remarks---yet they never have any real resolution. YOU PROVED my point of looking in the mirror. Your entire comment reflects the negativity that IS APART of the problem. When has focusing on the Negative EVER solved anything. And your quick to ***-down my attempt to approach this positively. You seriously need to reevaluate yourself---CHECK yourself, before you WRECK yourself. You sound very dumb, very misinformed and terribly ignorant. Educate yourself about something, other than what your *** mamasaid.
I always tell people that when Gangsta rap came out that it changed Rap music all together..and it changed people..I dont' listen to rap like I did before Gangsta rap...People got caught up in that west coast and east coast ***..I honestly don't care...Most of us have family spread all over the map..Some people now want to say "rep your hood"..Who cares?
The East/West feud started to stop another black leader? What is she talkin' about? In my opinion neither one of them tupac or biggie were polictical activist. They rapped and none of it had a real polictical message "Get Money"...give me a break. They were not the Last Poets who rapped about something. If she mean they are leader because they started the rap game, she nuts, they just jumped on the band wagon.
my bad for what i posted about her earlier, i guess i wasnt thinking before i spoke, but what i dont get sometimes is that these rappers talk about selling crack and killing each other and they know that its wrong, but they make thier millions of dollars off of that type of music, but when someone else wants to do the same thing, them same rappers want to tell everyone that it is wrong, but they didnt think it was wrong when they was getting thier money
you say I sound ignorant but what or you saying nzinga telling people to look inside themselves thats for people that listen to neosoul and watch incents burn. That *** dont work its tons of you preaching that mind body and soul literature dont nobody listen to that. People need the radical truth to sway them not look in the mirror and decide to change and poof no more ignorance. Most people change when they are touched by certain things like music, books, and speeches and movies not by looking in the mirror sum can but most cant
Listen to the idiot above who obviously lost an entire education somewhere along the line. What your Ignorant azz still doesn't get is that it is still about the parents. Parents are the first responders, the Bible teaches you to raise them right from the time they are young, i.e., knee high, and if you do what you are supposed to do as parents when they're young, the chances are they will turn out right, unless you want to challenge whats writtin in scripture as a Lie. So take a hint Joker, there is a reason why many of these young kids are turning out the way they are and it *** sure ain't the teacher, principal or courts fault. For once in your miserable lives, take responsibility for how you raise your child. If the neighborhood has gangs, then move the Freak out of the neighborhood, if the school has gangs, then send your child to another school or move somewhere, anywhere that will give your child half a fighting chance. No one is disputing that the system has been set up to as you say Joker "Spare the Rod, Spoil the Child" but there is no court in this world that is going to keep a Black man or woman from smacking a child who has been misbehaving. What you should know about children is that even if they've come from an abusive home, the child is still reluctant to leave as this is the only home that child has known, so no child wants to be taken out of their home, the only familiar environment they know and be put in the court system. This is not a license to abuse your child. but from where many of us sit, Black people have never hesitated to discipline their children as they see fit. So stop with the freaking excuses, because its a cop out and its pure B.S. Stop feeding into the "sh"t you read in the media. Black families have been raising their children for decades and way back in the day, many older folk will outright tell you their parents used to make them go fetch the limb from a birch tree for their whooping and yet they will also tell you, they survived and none the worse for wear. Many older Black folk will tell you in no uncertain terms, they got their tail whupped! So don't use that B.S. about the courts not allowing you to discipline your child as an excuse for the monster that you bred and raised. The courts are not sleeping in your household, the only people in your household are you and that brat you are raising. Contrary to what many of you fail to see or continue to be in denial about is that the majority of problematic children in schools and other places are those from Broken Homes! Yes Broken Homes! So to the blogger above who speaks about the court system, cut the B.S. and take responsibility for once in your miserable lives for the monsters you are raising and unleashing onto the world. You and you alone as Black women choose to have these baby mama dramas failing to take responsibility for your wayward actions or the consequences that arise with children coming from broken homes. And for you dads, 998% of the children we see with behavioral and psychological problems are those from broken homes with no Dads in the picture! So don't the freakin courts for what you as Black parents should have done right in the first place. Boys need their dads, and long before girls reach puberty, they need to have that male role model in their lives. As a Black people, start taking responsibility for whats going on in your communities, once again your Black children made the news again, 4 more teenagers ***, one dead. Take some MF responsibility for how you raise your children for once in your miserable lives. Its your monsters who are out here killing innocent children., This is happening in just about every state, whether on the east coast, west coast, down south or mid west. Your monster kids that you yourselves have failed to raise properly are killing innocent people and have graduated now to killng babies. WTF is wrong with you people, yet you sit on your Black azzes talking smack about Black celebs on blogs like this when you need to be devoting your energy to raising your children to not have filthy, blasphemous, potty mouths like yourselves. Wake up Black folk, because there is no more excuses left and no more blame to go around for what you yourselves have become and what you have raised in your households! Stop being a topic of Amusement for the rest of the world! Take hold of your child, this doesn't mean to abuse them, but take hold of your child and raise them to respect theirselves, respect others and their property and for goodness sake to ingrain in them the value of getting an education, because without one, you as Blacks are creating a Lost Generation of Youth, these kids Have No Hope! Its a hella of a thing to live your life havng no hope! Hope is what keeps us alive, whether its hope to be in God's kingdom, hope for a job, hope for a better future for your kids etc. Its that Hope which keeps us sane and keeps us going!!! For those of you who are blogging on this websie, for Petes sake, take hold of yourselves, because if the filthy gutteral, ghetto language and mentality seen on blogs like this are any indication of how you are raising your child, May God help Us All! Take hold of yourselves Black folk, because you are the primary rold models for your children, you cannot let your other halves be your children's role models as we see just how screwed up a world they've created as nothing they do ever turns out right nor good! So be role models for your children, give them that one gift they can carry with them throughout life. What some of you parents don't know is that some of the children, a minor few, when you ask them who their best friend and role model is, will witout hesitation say "Their Mom" or their "Dad" So my message to you Black folk is take hold of your kids, raise them to respect others, theirselves, their elders, and the property of others, raise them to see and understand the value of getting an education and how important this is for their survival in this world as a young Black person. Take the time and teach them about their real Black history, something this country has chosen to keep your children from learning. There are Black inventors, creators, builders, leaders etc. that the schools are failing to teach your kids. Let not yourselves be accused of failing your children as well. And for petes sake, teach your children about Yah/God, take them to church, because if many of you can't already see, society as not gotten better, it's become worse over the years. And for goodness sake, do the right thing for once in your miserable lives and take yourselves with your filthy potty mouths and take your children and put them in the church! Wake up my Brown people and stop carrying yourselves to become the *** of others jokes, stop being a mockery and a source of ridicule, Stop tearing each other down as thats what the others want you to do, read about your Brown history for you are not Black as the world terms you and you have much Greatness in your History to be Proud of !!!
