I was down in Miami a few weeks ago, staying a few blocks from Miami Police Headquaters (NW 2nd). The Police Department (like the city of Miami) is controlled by Cubans. Friends in Miami tell me that blacks with nice cars are profiled/stopped all the time. The Story....Racial profiling is alive and well. Some of us draw the negative attention to ourselves however. I personally try to do the right thing so that if I ever encounter the racial profiling or any other discriminatory act I will be able to put the oppressor on blast and expose the corruption.

On a different note...I live in Chicago and we are experiencing some of the worst street violence I have ever seen in my lifetime. Our kids are getting shot everyday...by each other! I'm trying to figure out why they are so angry and why there seems to be no value on life anymore. We have had 38 shootings this weekend alone, 8 people are dead and 5 of them are under 20! Since January 08 we have had 23 students killed by gunfire and gang violence. It is very scary and unsettling.

I am putting this out here today because its important. I am committed to getting involved...I don't really know what to do but I have to do something because I'm tired of this s/h/i/t. If you believe in prayer...I'm asking for that for the children. If you don't, that's cool. Maybe you have advice or suggestions on what I can do on a personal level to make a difference. It all starts with taking that 1st step.
