As the mother of 3 girls, I am extremely discouraged and disheartned by the clothing industry for the clothes made for children. The ad is over the top. Kimora's kid line does not represent themselves like that, Sean John, Roc-A-fella and whatever clothing line for Black people. This is the 1st I have seen with children looking like hookers--that's not a vanity mirror and fake clothes--that is for the every day wear. My daugthers have the pretend-you know the plastic make-up that they simulate make overs and the such. I let them wear worn out clothes and the cheap toy store clothes to play dress up. The ad has gone too far, which is indicative of the times we are living in.
Everyone needs to stop making excuses for their own parenting issues.

I personally think the clothes are too grown up for little children to wear daily. This goes beyond the realm of playing with mommie's hills or her boa. This is sending our little girls out looking like they are child prostitutes. That is worng. And to be equal, our little boys looking like baby drive-by ***, that is wrong also. But the biggest sin is allowing your children to believe that a label defines their character and who they are. Many of you are correct when you say if you don't like it, don't by it. Exploitation of children is wrong and I dont believe Dereon is prmoting it.

If that is what you are getting from this ad, then you are looking way too much into it. It is a fashion spread designed to make the girls look like they are playing dress up. If you were a girly girl as a child, that is what you did. There is no other message to this ad. I think as a society we are being way too sensitive about everything.

The lack of parenting is the reason for these events and as a responsible parent, I would not let my child wear heels or make up until I think she is old enough, however, if this has to do with a modeling job (as such) then no problem, it is something that is bring money into her trust. That's called responsible parenting. What is on tv and in the magazines should never prevent a parent from making the proper lifestyle choices for their impressionable children. Showing examples and being the example of what a responsible, confident, self-assured, respectable woman should be and is the real deal.

The ad art work is about little girls playing dress-up. These are cute little girls and I don't get the sense that this is a "***" sell ad at all. That said, the clothes aren't appropriate for this age of girl. My daughters wouldn't be wearing them. Most parents I know don't spend this much money for clothes their child will outgrow in 6 months.

Dereon clothing period is not for girls or even teenage girls for that matter. Have you all seen the clothes on that site. The problem with the ad and clothes, especially the look on the asian girl's face and the blonde girl, is that there is a blurring between adulthood and children. With older people acting like they're still young and children trying to be older, young girls are being exploited in the media to look like adults and the result is pedeophilia because of the breakdown of boundaries.
Great point IMO. Even if the concept of the photo *** is children playing dress up, the way it was executed makes those little girls look too grown. When little girls play dress up, they're make-up isn't spot on, so if they were going to go with that angle why not make it believable and show them looking like little girls who got into mommy's make-up? When you put your mom's make-up on, the lipstick was crooked and you had on more blush than a circus clown. If they had done that, the add would have been cute. Instead it looks like they took the children to the Mac counter and got the transexual male to hook them up.
As for the actual clothing line, I've seen it on the Dereon website. Some things are fine, like the graphic tees, but then they have white satin booty *** with gold print on the ***. Who the hell would put something like that on a child? The point is children are supposed to look like children. We dress them up and coordinate them like little divas and then act surprised when they act grown. We're reinforcing at a very young age that looks should be their top priority and then wonder why they grow up to be superficial airheads who can spell all their favorite designer's names but don't know sh!t else about the world.
And for the people trying to make it into a racial thing, stop it.
