: Hey all you European Mary J Blige fans - you better get your tickets fast. MediaTakeOut.com has just learned that promoters are contemplating canceling her European tour if ticket sales don't get better.
Word is that Mary already canceled a performance set for this week in Germany due to poor ticket sales. And that none of her other performances are selling fast enough.
Dang ... the music biz ain't what it used to be....
WELL SEE MARY! Wearing those platnium blonde european wigs don't make you WHITE! You trying so hard to look differently yet you still black. At least mary is hot in the UK and the States. The same mess is going to happen to Beyonce too. Once the YT get sick of her, they'll bring her tail back to reality (that she's black). They always had a trophy black from Janet, Brandy, and Micheal, now her. How much love do these stars get now???
what do you guys mean that's an ugly picture of her? *** that's HOW she LOOKS without the *** airbrushing, photoshop, and make-up mess that have most of these stars looking like beauty queens. Yall think Beyonce or Trina look the way they do in magazines and videos when they wake up in the early morning? What, you think they SLEEP with make-up and front laces on? I think not. Remember they human beings. Mary is no different. Mary is not a natural beauty though. She has all that money and still doesn't look beautiful even made up. So imagine how she looks when she's not wearing anything?!
you know y'all so wrong for using that depressing picture of Mary J. so it makes the story posted seem that more creditable!! you need to stop that if her ticket sales are not what they need to be girlfriend is still going to get paid since it's the promoters of the concert that have to ensure that she does...pls let's tell all the truth and not hate on a sista'!! go on Mary J. the Lord God is blessing your life.
If Europeans love you they will support you. The Japanese too. I don't know how often her music is played in Germany but they love Tina Turner. That's how Tina made her huge comeback in the 80s. They also love artists from the Motown era too.
Something must be truly wrong with how the industry has introduced MJB over there for ticket sales to be so low. If ticket sales are sluggish MJB must not have a huge following over there. Tina sells out within minutes over there.
like someone said before, people dont have money like that these days..why go to a concert when you can see that sh*t on cable? and now they want to charge an arm and a f*ckin leg for tickets..the Jay Z/ Mary J tour ticket prices are absolutely f*ckin ridiculous..people were paying over $300 for a seat! are you serious? I love them both but I have rent and bills to pay..i know the people that bought tickets to that concert must have skipped a credit card payment or two this month
Sorry to say but Mary looks absolutely hideous here !!! taw up from the flo up! And i dont get why yall are so suprised that Mary aint selling overseas, she isnt hardly big on a ww platform and has never been. Every since that "Breakthrough" album she's been acting like she's so ww phenom, she aint no Mariah thats for sure! Mary just doesnt have ww appeal! She's a US act! They should have known better to try and have her perform in Germany! lol... Just like Jay - Z he isnt big in countries overseas, just the states. It has nothing to do with money, becuz we are talking about overseas, unless you are speaking for urself here in the states! Music aint what it used to be, thats correct also, and Mary's album is not doing well, she debuted hugely because she released her album the last week of christmas, she has no hits off of her album, and it is performing poorly on the charts, she'd be lucky to go 2x platinum with this effort. "Stay Down" is stay down on the charts and "Just Fine" didnt even go top 15, so for her I imagine that this is somewhat of a disappointment!
IF this is true, its interesting...My impression from when I was traveling over there is that Euros are really into a lot of underground artists in both hip-hop and soul....Hell I heard more Jill Scott, Angie Stone, Mos Def, Roots, etc on the radio there than I ever hear on mainstream radio over here. They are definately into Black American music, but maybe the ticket prices are just over the top or they are just not all over the mainstream stuff. Doesn't change the fact that she still does strong tour numbers here in North America.
SIde note: CaramelSugarPie is right...That pic is just Mary without all the additives...
thats the thing, because people were stupid enough to pay $300 per ticket for that Heart of the City tour, they swore they could take that mess overaseas..Mary J is wildly popular here, to the point where people were willing to spend so much to hear her sing..but shes probably not that big out in Europe..and theres nothing wrong with that..its not an insult..thats the way it is..there are plenty of people who are mega-stars in Europe that we never heard of..would you pay to go see someone you never really heard of, who gets no real air play just because theyre popular in another country? nope..someone mentioned earlier that Jay Z isnt really popular overseas..they didnt want him to headline a huge concert because they didnt feel he was a big enough name..we laugh at that because hes the man over here, but thats how it is
Mary need to retire the *** blonde wig and maybe we might get somewhere *sheesh*...
She still has a lot of hurt and pain in her face no matter how she is made up even when she smiles.
Ppl want to be cheered up. Look at these *** gas and food prices. No one wants to hear some tired ***. Grow up Mary it's not '92 anymore.
NOBODY knows or cares about her overseas, and people BARELY care about her at all here in America, which is why she never gets big Top 10 hits on the charts. She's ONLY an R&B artist, and nowhere NEAR an international star. She's leagues away from ever reaching international status, and most people overseas haven't even heard of her at all, which is kinda sad (for her) since she should have been crossed over by now. Her music is SO one dimensional and is too urban, and that's not a bad thing. It's just that she's spent the majority of her career on the "pain" subject....she's screamed and hollered about the "pain" from her upbringing...the "pain" with her self esteem issues....the "pain" after she reached the pinnacle of success with "THE BREAKTHROUGH" (why in the WORLD would you even focus on the negative in that..***, that's a GOOD moment!)...the "pain" you deal with after you find love....Even her album covers look sad/mean/menacing/aggrevating, so why would anybody wanna invest $10 - $14 dollars on a CD like that?! Even her shows (from what I've seen online) are too boring, and just show her screaming and preaching! She's not even cultured like a ***...she has no aura or presence that seperates herself from average people, and that's not a bad thing..but when you think of (and look at) Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Janet Jackson, Mariah, Whitney, etc...there's a "larger than life" appeal that those artists have..and although MOST of that appeal has been from constant media portrayal and attention (good AND bad), Mary still lacks that ATTITUDE and feel....she spends so much time being and looking like the "ghetto girl next door" and it's hard for people to really go out their way and waste all that money on concert tickets and CDs, ESPECIALLY when they don't know you and when you lack talent, because besides screaming about her life experiences (and performing some OCCASIONAL positive "preaching" songs about good self image)....she HAS no talent..NO stellar "OH MY GOD" vocals...ZERO dancing skills....ZERO charisma!
I'm sayin *** the celebrites look at the chicks on here, yo @Jersey, baby please tell me sumthin spilled on your dress so I can fantasize about you gettin all wet and nasty! @ donhate..etcetc , next time you pose like that please be in panties or *** *** @goodgirl1414 you so *** sexy girl! @AngelRtease where did your picture go and why you use your real name up there? Mary aint got *** on the round the way girls. I pay tp party with real chicks befoe I pay to see her fake depressed ***. I hate blond wigs and greesy faces. Like that *** in belly ol oily *** face.
@demrob83
Wonderfully spoken point.
She has never had Genasaequa or savwafare lol! (spell check that)
She has even lost her hip-hop appeal. She used to have some banging beats to drown out that depression. There has never been any allure to her. I liked her in the '90's as a teenager because of the beats and she was kicking some things that we have experienced from time to time. But as an adult, I can't get with the lack of self accountiblity in her music. It's always someone elses fault. "If I fu*k up, it's still your fault", or it's your fault and you have to keep us together because I can't get off my *** to do it, or it's the last *** fault, or it's mamma and daddys fault".
Enough already. Where is the responsibillity? And it's sad because alot of our sisters have this same mentality that are devout listeners to her music. Not ALL but most.
When you are trying to become an international mega star you can't be coming with that kind of mentality. You have to have universal appeal. She is a blues singer and that is cool she should stick with that. When I wanna listen to the blues I will pop in a Mary album, or go to some smoky bar and listen to one on the jukebox and drown in my tears and drank. But if I am in Europe feeling some culture, the last thing I am thinking about is No More Drama.
Her best and I mean BEST album was Mary. It was her simple and plain. She had some of the most beautiful love ballads on there, live instrumentation, it was mature, and the writing was impeccable. It was a BLUES album, and people hated it. I wish she would have stayed with that style and she would have been respected as an international BLUES STAR. And I bet she would have sold out Europe then. They love real soul music over there. (i.e. Dwele, Jill, Erykah and others.)
CaramelSugarpie27 & Gigi
Mary and those Hood Anthems dont fly over there in Europe like that. Jay-Z on the other hand, He sells out in Europe, Asia, & US. Jay, 50, Kanye, & Eminem are huge over there as far as concerts go.
Mary never sold that much overseas Especially not on that last album. The only sistas I would bet on to sell out the UK is Beyonce, Tina Turner & Maybe even Janet. But thats where it stops.
Well I really hope the best for Mary's tour in European. I really like Mary. But MTO let me ask a sincere question, please. Why the hell yall pic that fu-cked up pic of Mary? And it's not only her, yall do that to Chris Brown, Fantasia, Tyra Banks, Naomi Campbell (well Naomi just dont take good pictures, just as simple as that). Yall never play that bytch Beyonce like that. I think thats f-cked up, you know
well...I hate to bust yalls bubble but Mary J Blidge is no great singer. The great singer are: Chaka Chan, Jennifer Hudson, Yolanda Adams, Vickie Wynans, Mariah Carey..of course these are all sopranos...and I am biased.
The great singers that used to be are: Whitney Houston, Vesta, Natalie Cole, Aretha (still great but is in retirement), Tina Turner (still great but *** well need to be in retirement).!!!
LMAO!!!!
TROOPER Flag post IT'S NOT THAT THEY DON'T LISTEN TO MUSIC OVER THERE AS ONE COMMENTER SAID. I MEAN SOME PPL GETTING TIRED OF THE NO MORE DRAMA ROUTINE. SH!T OK U BEEN THRU IT NOW U MADE IT SO SING HAPPIER SONGS ***. EVERY SONG SHE CRYING AT THE END.
^^^naw trooper I MEANT what I said. They don't "listen" to music over there. I have online pals from all over the world & they send me playlists of their fave artists. It's silly music. I mean... really really silly music. The only hype I DO believe in is that Garage music (I love how they say Ga Raj) which is underground. The rest of that ish is pure dee GARBAGE! If they can't look at their rappers muscles & fawn over how cute they are.. they have no chance. The don't "listen" they "look". And they have NO IDEA what constitutes an R&B song or an R&B artist. All one has to do is look at their reviews & commentary for certain artist, and you'll see.
Besides the European market is not as lucrative as the market in the states. That's why ballers & singers go there when they've been DISMISSED by us (the U.S.) they know they'll be excepted regardless of how TERRIBLE they are.
btw... I'm JustTheFactsMam :-)
Also Mary has been outta that "pain" stage since she made that ***$h1t azz song crumpda crump crump... god how I hate that song. But I still L.O.V.E Mary :-) Share My World - CLASSIC! What's the 411 - CLASSIC!
And some of these posters actin' like they don't know what da heck R&B means. Rhythm and BLUES... so stop complaining about OUR artist holding TRUE to the CONCEPT of the genre. You want all happy songs? Stick to POP
“As a singer, Mary really is the heir to Aretha Franklin” – Sting

Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome the Queen of hip-hop soul. The Icon. The Urban Diva. The Voice. The one and only, Mary J Blige. Promoter Chugg Entertainment is thrilled to announce that Mary J Blige will perform four one-***-only concerts in her first ever tour of NewZealand and Australia next month.
The tour will commence at Perth’s Burswood Dome on Tuesday 10th June and will be followed by three East Coast performances at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on Thursday 12th June, Sydney Entertainment Centre on Friday 13th June, on Saturday 14th June the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, on Monday 16th June the Vector Arena Auckland and finally a very special intimate *** at Wellingtons Michael Fowler Centre on Tuesday June 17.
The supremely stylish and exceedingly beautiful Mary J Blige is also without doubt one of the great singers of our time. The proof is in the consistent worldwide #1 albums and singles, her 23 Grammy nominations and 8 Grammy wins, seven multi-platinum records and over 15-years of equal parts respect and adoration from the public, critics and fellow artists.
Mary J Blige has helped to redefine RnB and inspired a generation of artists who have followed her lead. She has secured her place as one of the worlds top urban diva’s by appealing to older fans with her soul sensibility and maintaining youthful credibility with her hip-hop savvy.
Michael Chugg, Executive Chairman of Chugg Entertainment is as excited as any fan about bringing the Diva down under. “Mary J Blige is a *** in anyone’s language… she is sexy, stylish, sassy and what a voice! She’s one of the greatest live acts I’ve ever seen and I’m thrilled to bring her to Australia for the first time. I had goose bumps when I saw her perform with Sting at the VH1 Awards and so did Sting! I can’t wait to see her blow Australasian music lovers away,” said Chugg.
Mary J Blige was born in the Bronx and spent the first few years of her childhood in Georgia before returning to New York with her mother and older sister, settling in the housing projects of Yonkers.
She endured a rough life in Yonkers, NY, one which left her with her fair share of physical and emotional scars but set the foundations in her adult life for her strength of character and savvy disposition, and the type of music which lift spirits, touches lives and bring her heart, soul and truth to all of those who listen.
Mary’s 8th studio album, “Growing Pains” shows Mary pushing herself in ways she never has: especially vocally. There are jazzy inflections, girl group coquettishness, nuanced phrasing: a full range of tones and textures.
“Growing Pains” comes on the heels of her best-selling anthology “Reflections”. It’s also her first album of new material since “The Breakthrough” debuted at #1 on the US charts and the album’s first single, “Be Without You,” made chart history by holding down the #1 spot on the Billboard “Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums” chart for a record breaking sixteen straight weeks.
On September 9, 2005, Mary J. Blige performed the anthem "One" with U2 for “*** from the Storm: A Concert for the Gulf Coast” and again at the 2006 Grammy Awards. The collaboration brought Mary J Bilge back into the spotlight, won her new fans in the world of rock music and re-confirmed her versatility as a performer and her status as an all round outstanding artist.
Mary J Blige is the One. Don’t miss this unprecedented concert event.
