: NEW YORK (AP) - A city Health Department study finds that more than a fourth of adult New Yorkers are infected with the virus that causes genital herpes.
The study, released Monday, says about 26 percent of New York City adults have genital herpes, compared to about 19 percent nationwide.
The department says genital herpes can double a person's risk for contracting HIV.
Herpes can cause painful sores, but most people have no recognizable symptoms.
Among New Yorkers, the herpes rate is higher among women, black people and gay men.
The health department urges consistent use of condoms, and says its STD clinics offer free, confidential herpes testing.
SCARY, BUT NOT A SHOCK. SUPPOSEDLY, 1 IN 5 PEOPLE IN AMREICA PERIOD HAVE IT. THERE ARE A FEW IN MY OWN FAMILY AND BEING SINGLE IT JUST TERRIFIES ME. CONDOMS DON'T PROTECT AGAINST IT, AND SO MANY PEOPLE ARE SELFISH *** WHO WOULD RATHER CHANCE GIVING YOU A DISEASE RATHER THAN TELL YOU UP FRONT. *** I WISH I WAS MARRIED...
OLIVE LEAF EXTRACT KILLS THE HERPES VIRUS DEAD IN IT'S TRACKS TRY IT AND SEE IF IT WORKS..GOOD LUCK.
Olive Leaf Extract from 'Natural Life Review' June, 1999, French biologists have discovered that an extract from olive leaves kills the herpes virus. Subsequent research demonstrated that the extract destroys other viruses and bacteria. It also strengthens the immune system. The extract is invaluable to people with low resistance to disease or compromised immune systems.
Rising numbers of antibiotics resistant to microorganisms increase the relevance and importance of natural products with antibiotic properties.
After the active components were isolated in 1969, an upsurge of research has resulted in dramatic discoveries. Research by the pharmaceutical company Upjohn, published by the American Society of Microbiology, found that the active components elenol acid and calcium elenolate inhibited the growth of every virus, bacteria, fungi and protozoa they were tested against.
Dr. Renis proved that oleuropein from olive leaf extract could kill herpes virus. In 1992 French biologists found that all of the herpes viruses were inhibited or killed by extracts from olive leaf. The included 28 references to the anti-viral action of oleuropein in their report.
Olive leaf extract has an ability to interfere with critical amino acid production essential for viruses. It can penetrate infected cells directly and stop viral replication. Olive leaf extract can contain the spread of the infection and can stimulate the immune system response in which cells ingest harmful microorganisms and foreign matter.
Research suggests that supplemental olive leaf extract may be beneficial in the treatment for conditions caused by or associated with a virus, retrovirus, bacterium or protozoan. Among such conditions are flu, gum disease, infections, the common cold, Epstein-Barr virus, encephalitis, herpes, pneumonia, dengue fever, severe diarrhea and some sexually transmitted diseases.
The anti-viral activity of olive leaf extract is due to the action of oleuropein on the protein coat of the virus. It is thought to inactivate bacteria by dissolving the outer lining of the microbe. Research conducted in Hungary has demonstrated such positive results against a range of infections that olive leaf extract has become an official anti-infectious disease remedy. Olive leaf extract acts to prevent the onset of colds, flu and a range of viruses, yeast, fungal and mould, parasites and bacterial infections.
An increase in energy after taking olive leaf extract is also commonly reported as the micro-organism load on the body is reduced. Olive leaf extract has many benefits in addition to its antibacterial and antiviral activity. It is especially good for the heart and circulation. It is an excellent antioxidant and inhibits the harmful oxidation of LDL, the so-called 'bad cholesterol.'
In Spain, pharmacologists learned that it causes relaxation of the artery walls, suggesting a possible benefit for hypertension. Italian researchers found it beneficial for hypertension, lowering blood sugar and uric acid levels in animals, indicating its potential for heart disease and diabetes. Other researchers have found olive leaf extract relieves arrhythmias (heart beat irregularities) and improves blood flow to the heart. Clinicians have found it beneficial for candidiasis and other fungal infections.
Both Olive Leaf Extract and Yew Extract are excellent for periodontal gum disease. The mouth can harbor many types of bacteria which can lead to infections and/or dental abscess, which can contribute to heart attacks, heart disease and pain. Yew and Olive Leaf Extract can halt infection in the mouth and help with periodontal disease.
Olive oil also has some of the same benefits as Olive Leaf Extract. Phenolic compounds in olive oil, which have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-clotting properties, may explain cardiovascular health benefits associated with the so-called Mediterranean Diet, according to a new study in the Nov. 15, 2005, issue of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
Herpes!!! What about syphyllis, Hepatitis, genital warts, gonarhia ( don't know if I spelled it right) But however genital herpes is only one std that people be like oh my god, but really all of them you should be worried about because each std puts you at a greater risk to have HIV. Not just genital herpes, that includes clymidia, for all you ladies and gents wit dat hahahahahahah!
It amazes me with all the facts out there people still engage in reckless behavior. Gone are the days when a ***, cream or antibotics will take care of that. I beleive most of it is coming from the *** activity and the fact that alot of it is on the low with men going back and forth all up in each others *ssholes. I feel bad for people who dont know and call themselves being in a one on one relationship then wake up with the ohwee. Ladies, it is time to get nosey if you not sure who you messing with find out f*ck all that following him get yourself a digital recorder and send that sh*t with him you will find out exactly what he is up to plant it anywhere you know he will be running his mouth cuz men talk just like women. Its sad to go that low but you know what it's sadder to be in denial, more sad to die because of it. I am sure many will disagree but you gotta do what is best for you and your well being.
12INCHESINYOU WHAT DO YOU MEAN SO WHAT. THIS KIND OF ATTITUDE IS THE REASON STD'S ARE RAMPANT, I TAKE IT YOU MIGHT BE THE ONE SPREADING IT AND YOU DON'T CARE.. WOMEN BABIES CAN COME OUT BLIND IF THEY HAVE A HERPES OUTBREAK AT THE TIME OF DELIVERY AMONG OTHER SERIOUS THING LIKE CANCER IN THE OVARIES.
I GUESS TO YOU HAVE A *** WITH HERPES IS GOOD I'M HAPPY YOU PUT UP YOUR PIC SO THAT WOMEN OR MEN KNOW TO STAY AWAY FROM YOU.
FOH, MAN! IT'S EVERYWHERE...SORRY TO INFORM THE IGNORANT FOLKS, BUT IT'S OUT THERE AND YOU ALREADY PROB MESSED WIT A CHICK OR DUDE THAT HAD THE SH.T AND UR A SILENT CARRIER. LET'S NOT GET FUNKY AND ONLY POINT THE FINGER AT NY FOLKS OR THE STATE OF NY. THAT HOOD RAT B.TCH THAT U BONE AFTER THE CLUB COULD BE A CARRIER OR THAT BOTTOM DUDE U CALL ONLY ON THE LATE *** MIGHT B A CARRIER. C'MON MAN....STOP WILDIN AND GET REALISTIC!
Ya'll are crazy and ignorant. Watch the commercial do your research before you go around making false accusations confusing everybody. Herpes are every where and *** isn't the only way to get it. There are a lot of different ways to contact this disease it isn't just an STD! Get informed! There is no way to tell if a person has herpes unless they are having an outbreak! Even with regular checks ups you can be mis diagnosed. From my understand they don't even check for herpes with regular check ups. I heard to you have to ask to be check out on that maybe I’m wrong, but do your research!
@ Fine-***-Yellow...female condoms wont help either boo boo...
Let a dude have herpes on or in his mouth and have a cut on his lips and go down on you or kiss you on the mouth for a long period of time.... Your *** will get it.
The only prevention is to not have multiple partners or to just ask questions...sometimes even that dont work. Sucks
New York is just barely above average in their herpes rate big deal. People who say they won't go there or talk *** about new york need to realize that *** is everywhere and to watch out. And with the ratio being 1 of 5 people have it. I think some who posted here have it even though they may say it's gross and talkin ***. Quit frontin.
What I refused to believe is that black people is always the leader in STd's and anything else that's horrible. I think it's *** when most white people are easily the nastiest creatures on earth. I'm sure there's plenty of them or more that have it as well. Most black families in America come from decendants or are ancestors of slaves which guess what? Cleaned houses, cleaned clothes and cleaned white children and themselves for the slave masters. Hispanics are still cleaning toilets and sh!t for them (no disrespect). I work with some nasty white *** that take sh!ts and don't wash their hands, then head straight to the kitchen open the refrigerator for some milk and cream to go with their coffee. So don't believe everything you hear but just keep yourself clean. How many *** on here make comments like "That's nasty or disgusting"! So if most of us feel that way then I have to believe that the percentage is not true. Wake up black people! Don't beleive the hype! Sh!t! Here's some hype (White people's been practicing incest for thousands of years trying to keep the bloodline pure),that's why they all look ***'d up with bad skin, broken looking noses and smell like bologna! Just ask the Queen of England. While they were hiding in caves doing all that incest us black people was out enjoying the sun building pyramids, taking care of the earth and multiplying with other tribes until the cavemen came around us! *** U MTO!
Stickup,
I get what you're saying, but some of what you said goes waaaaaaaaaaaay back to slavery. Well, slavery is no more. Black people got their freedom and went wild just like everyone else did. Sure, we don't know who own the "Herpes Champions" title, but one thing we do know, is that we have a brain, and if we want to stay alive and/or healthy, then we need to excercise better judgement. The only thing we can do is stop acting like stark raving *** hounds, because I'm willing to bet that these "statistics" come from what everyone sees on shows like Maury, Judge Joe Brown, etc., where black people are having *** casually with no protection. If a girl can bring 20 guys to the Maury show claiming she doesn't know which one fathered her child(ren), then she can certainly contract an STD from one of those 20 doggish men as well. This is where I believe the media gets these statistics. Either that, or people are doing census polls where they don't care about being put out there, but I don't think that to be the case. I agree with part of your post though...how can everything bad be associated with black folks?
AND THE MOST HORRIFIC ASPECT OF STD'S IS THAT PEOPLE CARRY THESE DISEASESA AROUND LIKE LUGGAGE AND WILL NOT TELL THEIR PARTNERS ABOUT THEIR HEALTH ISSUES...A FRIEND OF OUR FAMILY, WHO IS HIGHLY EDUCATED, ATRACTIVE AND WELL TRAVLED NEVER TELLS HER PARTNERS ABOUT HER HERPES STATUS AND TRAVELS (AND SLEEPS AROUND) FROM NORTH AMERICA TO AFRICA AND EUROPE AND THEN BACK AGAIN!
herpes is very common ever since it was brought back by soilders many wars ago, condoms don't protect & almost everyone has some type of the virus, even babys who get it from kisses, their is a cure but they don't want you to have it, just live organic & healthy , but you can't cause its so expensive, & limited ( hard to find) & the juke that keeps you sick is open 24 hours & cost a buck..........
Ok MTO...this has been a good topic...thanks to ya'll for sharing. So let me get this straight.....CONDOMS CAN NOT KEEP YOU FROM GETTING HERPES?????? WTF??? Somebody please tell me that is a lie. Because I was told that if your partner was using suppressive therapy that the chances were cut *** by 70%. Also, I thought condoms took care of everything...what the hell ya'll???? I just got tested a few months back and everything was all good but the nurse did say that it takes about 2 months for the *** to set itself up in your system (your spine).
So what's up with this Olive Leaf Extract....can anyone else vouch for that stuff????
Ok...I have been reading through some more of these posts and I think I have decided to just say "*** it!" I'm getting me a vibrator and some oreos...this is too much. I had no idea that condoms could not protect you from herpes and HPV. I guess mainly because I just really don't have a good understanding of either disease other than I'm sure like AIDS they were both created in a lab somewhere so some greedy azz white *** could make the cure and sell it for millions.....don't white people just make you *** sick with their greed????
There is NO difference between the virus that causes REGULAR cold sores (like you get when you have a fever) and genital/oral herpes. The only thing is one has a stigma attached to it like it's the plague and the other is classified as...just a cold sore. HSV1 AND HSV2 can be caught orally or through sexual contact. The only difference is the virus's location of choice. What causes oral cold sores is the virus lodging itself in the nerve cells near the ear (inside) which causes outbreaks on the face. The genital kind, lodges itself in the base of the spine causing the outbreaks occur in the closest membranous tissue of the area. The genitals. But it is virtually the same virus. Most people DO NOT get sick, and the ones that do already have a weakened immune system that cause outbreaks. And MAINLY, the MEDICATION to treat something that's not a problem to begin with is what makes people sick. So if you had herpes cold sores at any point, you have the same virus as the person with genital herpes. Also, genital herpes is not as detrimental as Herpes Simplex Type 1 (cold sores). HSV1 can cause latent nerve damage, sterility, etc. But once the virus gets in your body, it just stays isolated in it's location of choice (ear or spine) and doesn't spread elsewhere. With that, people need to stop being straight up ignorant by calling people nasty because of a skin disease....because truthfully, that's ALL it is.
BTW---I know this because I'm a human biology major---and few of my friends have it.
@apple
i agree with u (2 an extent) i know someone very close 2 me with this. she was with her childs father for yrs when he did this to her. she is a good human being who did not and does not sleep around. so yes hearing all this nasty stuff ihate bcause i kno 4 a fact this is a good girl who got caught up with a foul guy. she has had it about 15 yrs now, and tells me she has not seen or felt it,it in many years. APPLE can you tell me where it went, is it still jus sitting in her spine? by the way she is not a health fanatic. she was eating doritos while on the phone with me last *** LOL.
ITS NOT JUST AN STD. IT IS ALSO SPEAD THROUGH ANYTHING YOU TOUCH. IF INFECTED RESTAURANT WORKERS HAVE TOUCHED THEIR FACE THEY COULD EASILY SPREAD IT TO YOUR FOOD/DISHES AND YOU HAVE IT. IT IS VERY EASILY SPREAD. AND IT DOESN'T ONLY MANIFEST ITSELF AS A SORE. IT COULD BE A BUMP ANYWHERE ON YOUR FACE. IF YOU HAVE EVER GOTTEN A CHICKEN POX IMMUNIZATION VACCINE WHEN YOU WERE A CHILD, YOU HAVE IT IN SOME FORM. I URGE YOU TO DO YOUR RESEARCH ONLINE AND YOU'LL FIND THAT CHICKEN POX IS RELATED TO HERPES. THAT IS WHY ITS NOT JUST AND SDT. THE GOVERNMENT/HEALTH DEPARTMENT/PHISICIANS ALREADY KNOW THIS BUT THEY DON'T WANT YOU TO KNOW.
MOCHADELIGHT you are so right half of these folk on here sound *** thats why it is spreading like it is. If you touch someone with herpes you won't get it, skin to skin contact is true but ocntact with a sore not just skin, or if the person with herpes is viral shedding, aterm when no outbreak is present but thats when its contagious. Herpes lies dormant for long periods of time, and goes to sleep in the infected persons spine and the person cannot infect someone during these dormant times...things like Valtrax for folk with herpes diminishes the chance of them spreading the virus to anyone...no wonder folk are so afraid to tell, when other folk are so ignorant and uneducated. Herpes is a skin disease, and a cousin to chicken pox...ya'll need to read more not only about herpes but everything else out here also
Herpes can be spread even when there are not any noticeable sypmtons FYI!!! For anyone who said that you c/*** spread it while dormant is a *** fool and has herpes themselves and are in denial!!!!! Its sad that the generation that our children are living in are gonna grow up and they are gonna be in the clinic every *** week for fools that post comments as clueless as the ones above...hint,hint phoenix7 you need to rewatch that valtrex commercial, its states clearly that you can still possibly spread herpes without an active outbreak...YOUTUBE it if you have too!
***!!! mto u should have posted PICS I BET THAT WOULD GET PEOPLE TO STOP HAVIN *** ITS JUST CRAZY AND SAD THAT *** TURNS INTO A DISASTER.
Signs and symptoms If symptoms do occur, they will usually appear 2 to 7 days after exposure and last 2 to 4 weeks. Both men and women may have one or more symptoms, including:
itching or tingling sensations in the genital or anal area. small fluid-filled blisters that burst leaving

STD symptoms: 7 STDs and common symptoms Learn about common and possible STD symptoms and how serious they might be. If you're having ***, you may also be experiencing STD symptoms. STD symptoms can occur regardless of what type of *** — vaginal, oral or anal — you're having, or whether you use condoms. Although condoms when correctly and consistently used are highly effective for reducing transmission of STDs, no method (other than abstinence) is 100 percent effective. This is particularly true with certain STDs, such as genital warts and genital herpes.
STD symptoms can range from subtle to obvious. If you think you're experiencing STD symptoms, see a doctor. Some STD symptoms can be treated easily and eliminated. Other STD symptoms require more involved and long-term treatment.
Either way, it's essential to be evaluated, and — if diagnosed with an STD — be treated. It's also essential to inform any partners so that they can be evaluated and treated. If untreated, STDs can increase your risk of acquiring another STD such as HIV. This happens because an STD can stimulate an immune response in the genital area or cause sores, either of which might make HIV transmission more likely. Some untreated STDs can also lead to infertility.
Here are some common STDs and their symptoms.
Chlamydia Chlamydia is a bacterial infection of your genital tract. Chlamydia may be difficult for you to detect because early-stage infections often cause few or no signs and symptoms. When they do occur, they usually start one to three weeks after you've been exposed to chlamydia. Even when signs and symptoms do occur, they're often mild and passing, making them easy to overlook.
Signs and symptoms may include:
Painful urination Lower abdominal pain Vaginal discharge in women Discharge from the *** in men Painful sexual intercourse in women Testicular pain in men

Gonorrhea Gonorrhea is a bacterial infection of your genital tract. The first gonorrhea symptoms generally appear within two to 10 days after exposure. However, some people may be infected for months before signs or symptoms occur. Signs and symptoms of gonorrhea may include:
Thick, cloudy or bloody discharge from the *** or vagina Pain or burning sensation when urinating Frequent urination Pain during sexual intercourse

HIV HIV is an infection with the human immunodeficiency virus. HIV interferes with your body's ability to effectively fight off viruses, bacteria and fungi that cause disease, and it can lead to AIDS, a chronic, life-threatening disease.
When first infected with HIV, you may have no symptoms at all. Some people develop a flu-like illness, usually two to six weeks after being infected. Early HIV symptoms may include:
Fever Headache Fatigue Swollen lymph glands Rash These early symptoms usually disappear within a week to a month and are often mistaken for those of another viral infection. During this period, you are very infectious. More persistent or severe symptoms of HIV infection may not appear for 10 years or more after the initial infection.
As the virus continues to multiply and destroy immune cells, you may develop mild infections or chronic symptoms such as:
Swollen lymph nodes — often one of the first signs of HIV infection Diarrhea Weight loss Fever Cough and *** of breath Signs and symptoms of later stage HIV infection include:
Persistent, unexplained fatigue Soaking *** sweats Shaking chills or fever higher than 100 F (38 C) for several weeks Swelling of lymph nodes for more than three months Chronic diarrhea Persistent headaches

Genital herpes Genital herpes is highly contagious and caused by a type of the herpes simplex virus (HSV). HSV enters your body through small breaks in your skin or mucous membranes. Most people with HSV never know they have it, because they have no signs or symptoms. The signs and symptoms of HSV can be so mild they go unnoticed. When signs and symptoms are noticeable, the first episode is generally the worst. Some people never experience a second episode. Other people, however, can experience episodes over a period of decades.
When present, genital herpes symptoms may include:
Small, red bumps, blisters (vesicles) or open sores (ulcers) in the genital, anal and nearby areas Pain or itching around your genital area, buttocks or inner thighs The initial symptom of genital herpes usually is pain or itching, beginning within a few weeks after exposure to an infected sexual partner. After several days, small, red bumps may appear. They then rupture, becoming ulcers that ooze or bleed. Eventually, scabs form and the ulcers heal.
In women, sores can erupt in the vaginal area, external genitals, buttocks, anus or cervix. In men, sores can appear on the ***, scrotum, buttocks, anus or thighs, or inside the urethra, the tube from the bladder through the ***.
While you have ulcers, it may be painful to urinate. You may also experience pain and tenderness in your genital area until the infection clears. During an initial episode, you may have flu-like signs and symptoms, such as headache, muscle aches and fever, as well as swollen lymph nodes in your groin.
In some cases, the infection can be active and contagious even when sores aren't present.

Genital warts (HPV infection) Genital warts, caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), are one of the most common types of STDs. The signs and symptoms of genital warts include:
Small, flesh-colored or gray swellings in your genital area Several warts close together that take on a cauliflower shape Itching or discomfort in your genital area Bleeding with intercourse Often, however, genital warts cause no symptoms. Genital warts may be as small as 1 millimeter in diameter or may multiply into large clusters.
In women, genital warts can grow on the vulva, the walls of the vagina, the area between the external genitals and the anus, and the cervix. In men, they may occur on the tip or *** of the ***, the scrotum or the anus. Genital warts can also develop in the mouth or throat of a person who has had oral *** with an infected person.

Hepatitis Hepatitis A, hepatitis B and hepatitis C are all contagious viral infections that affect your liver. Hepatitis B and C are the most serious of the three, but each can cause your liver to become inflamed.
Some people never develop signs or symptoms. But for those who do, symptoms may occur after several weeks and may include:
Fatigue Nausea and vomiting Abdominal pain or discomfort, especially in the area of your liver on your right side beneath your lower ribs Loss of appetite Fever Dark urine Muscle or joint pain Itching Yellowing of your skin and the whites of your eyes (jaundice)

Syphilis Syphilis is a bacterial infection. The disease affects your genitals, skin and mucous membranes, but it may also involve many other parts of your body, including your brain and your heart.
The signs and symptoms of syphilis may occur in four stages — primary, secondary, latent and tertiary.
Primary These signs may occur from 10 days to three months after exposure:
A small, painless sore (chancre) on the part of your body where the infection was transmitted, usually your genitals, rectum, tongue or lips. A single chancre is typical, but there may be multiple sores. Enlarged lymph nodes. Signs and symptoms of primary syphilis typically disappear without treatment, but the underlying disease remains and may reappear in the secondary or third (tertiary) stage.
Secondary The signs and symptoms of secondary syphilis may begin two to 10 weeks after the chancre appears, and may include:
Rash marked by red or reddish-brown, penny-sized sores over any area of your body, including your palms and soles Fever Fatigue and a vague feeling of discomfort Soreness and aching These signs and symptoms may disappear within a few weeks or repeatedly come and go for as long as a year.
Latent In some people, a period called latent syphilis — in which no symptoms are present — may follow the secondary stage. Signs and symptoms may never return, or the disease may progress to the tertiary stage.
Tertiary Without treatment, syphilis bacteria may spread, leading to serious internal organ damage and death years after the original infection.
Some of the signs and symptoms of tertiary syphilis include:
Neurological problems. These may include stroke and infection and inflammation of the membranes and fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord (meningitis). Other problems may include poor muscle coordination, numbness, paralysis, deafness or visual problems. Personality changes and dementia also are possible. Cardiovascular problems. These may include bulging (aneurysm) and inflammation of the aorta — your body's major artery — and of other blood vessels. Syphilis may also cause valvular heart disease, such as aortic valve problems.
