What he unfairly did was to form a girl's group with the intention of his daughter being the lead while the rest just became back up. This is the same scenario that eventually caused the bitterness, that lasts til this day, among the Supremes. You don't start out as the Primettes, then Supremes and then one has an affair with the record label owner and rename a group Diana Ross & the Supremes.
