: MediaTakeOut.com just caught wind that rapper Ice T is going hard against rapper Soulja Boy. Here's what he said on DJ Cisco’s Urban Legend mixtape:
"F*ck Soulja Boy! Eat a d*ck! This n*gga single handedly killed Hip Hop.And Ice T has some more fire for another teenage rapper - Hurricane Chris:That shit is such garbage man. We came all the way from Rakim, we came all the way from Das EFX, we came all the way from motherf*ckers flowing like Big Daddy Kane and Ice Cube, and you come with that Superman sh*t? That shit is garbage.”
“Hurricane (Chris) take them f*cking beads out of your hair n*gga! Man up. You n*ggas is making me feel real f*cking mad about this sh*t.LMAO at Ice T - a man who's had a perm in his hair for the last 25 years - talking slick about someone else's hair.
*** THATS SOME HATIN *** LOL LETS KEEP IT REAL ICE-T WASNT THAT HOT EITHA WHEN HE WAS OUT I KNOW WE SUPPOSE TO GIVE RESPECT TO SOME OF THESE OLD HEADS FOR BEING IN THE GAME BUT LETS BE SERIOUS IS HE ONE OF YA FAVORITE GANGSTA RAPPERS OF ALL TIME?
WE KNOW MR. CRANK THAT IS ON HIS CORNY *** BUT ITS FOR THE *** KIDS YO LETS GET SERIOUS HERE WITH THE HATIN ON THE YOUNG MC'S
Ice-T isn't lying. I don't listen to hip hop at all these days. Hip Hop is dead and buried... People are quick to say "stop hating" when it's not hate at all. The pioneers of Hip Hop had to kick doors down to get the lifestyle of HH accepted, Now these young *** kids that don't wanna go to school think they can just sit down in front of a computer with the fruity loops software, create a beat, pick up a mic and get millions. They are no doubt alot of good artists out there that can possibly bring HH back, But the ratio of good artists and "wanna be hit makers" are like 10 to 1.
Isn't this the same *** that has been wearing a pony tail in his head for at least 20 years? Why doesn't he talk sideways about snoop or any other old rappers with the same hairstyle. I'm sick and tire of these old *** rappers trying to get some tv time because they are now lame.
He must be mad because the single he dropped last year went double foil.
Anyways, um didn't hip hop start off of party music? Doesn't the music or culture runs in circles with what's popular? Rakim didn't create hip hop! That *** was party music from the jump then went to a conscious state and back to a party state. How can one rapper destroy hip hop? He didn't make anyone buy his cds and since I'm from the south, the genre of music he makes have been around for YEARS!!!
Ice T needs to eat a *** for being a jealous misunderstanding ***.
YEA IM ONLY 19 AND LIVED IN 3 DIFFERENT REGIONS IN THE COUNTRY. HIP HOP ISNT THE SAME ANYMORE, BUT ITS FOR A REASON. THINGS CHANGE OVER TIME FOR THE BETTER. I WOULD LISTEN TO RAKIM AND THINK I CANT GET CRUNK TO THIS, DONT GET ME WRONG THAT *** IS RAW. ALL IM SAYIN IS I LIKE TO SEE BLACK PEOPLE DO GOOD. *** I WOULD OF MADE THAT STUPID *** SUPERMAN, AND SUPERMAN MYSELF STRAIGHT OUT THA HOOD.
i heard about this on the radio this morning....i never remember ice t rhymes goin hard, he need to stop acting 2. wtf he hatin on little kids for? they are teenagers...he is in his forties...they doing what they like to do and they have a huge fan base probably much bigger than ice t ever had. he need to go sit down somewhere...he and his plastic doll.
SOULJABOI IS WACK ...BUT HE DID NOT KILL HIP HOP HE JUST TOOK A COUPLE OF STABS AT IT WHILE HE'S DOWN....I SAY CASHMONEY RECORDS STARTED KILLIN HIP HOP WHEN THEY CAME OUT WITH BACK THAT A/S/S UP YA'LL WAS LOVING THAT *** THINKING IT WAS HOT . NOT SEEIN THE FUTURE OF THINGS TO COME HUH. NOW LOOK WHAT HAPPENS. NOW ALL DOWNSOUTH FOOLS THINK THEY CAN RAP. LOL THEY SHOULD FIND ANOTHER NAME FOR WHAT THESE DUDES ARE DOIN . CUZ IT'S NOT HIP HOP..AND F/U/C/*** LILWAYNE.
I agree wit Ice-T.....these bumps then helped destroy hip-hop which is a flop right now.
Anybody doing a Superman dance needs some help. Unless it is on the Cartoon Network or Seseme Street, where his lil' a*s belong.
Hurrican Chris is already a U-G-L-Y F*cker and those beeds in his hair don't help out his cause. Maybe they can get together (both SUSPECT) and retire together.
Now Superman that!
I doubt Soulja boy killed hip hop single handedly, there were and still are many many more who are doing just that. Plus, eras pass and styles change to be stuck on the old.
Ice T. got some nerve talkin with his wannabe *** old @ss. He tries so hard to act cool that it shows. He thinks he's a *** cause he got an overly surgically enhanced white chick who used him for his money and fame.
Its kinda silly for an old @ss man to be picking on a young kid. His ancient *** should be in the country somewhere rockin on a creaky rocking chair and feeding the pigeons.
I HAVE TO SAY HE'S RIGHT. HE'S NOT HATING HE'S JUST SAYING IT LIKE IT IS AND SOMETIMES THE TRUTH SOUND LIKE HATE BUT IT'S NOT. IT JUST HURT FOR SOMEONE TO HEAR IT. BUT WHAT I DON'T LIKE ABOUT SOULJA BOY IS THAT HE TRY TO DISS OLD SCHOOL RAPPERS AND NEW ONES IN A SLICK WAY. JUST LIKE SAYING HIS FAVORITE OLD SCHOOL RAPPER IS 50 CENT. AND HE'S BETTER THEN ALL THESE RAPPERS CUZ HE SELLING CD'S. HE'S NOT SELLING CD'S I THOUGHT SO TO BUT HE'S SELLING A LOT OF RINGTONES. THAT SUPERMAN I THINK FINALLY WENT PLATINUM I THINK BUT IT DID SELL 3 MILLIION RINGTONES.
HE HAS EARNED THE RIGHT TO SPEAK HIS OPINION.....THE GAME HAS TURNED INTO SOMETHIN COMPLETELY DIFFERENT TODAY. IT AIN'T ABOUT LYRICS NO MORE, IT'S ABOUT YOUR IMAGE...AND THAT'S A SHAME IN A WAY, BUT HOWEVER YOU CAN MAKE YOUR MONEY OR YOUR OWN LEGACY, I SAY DO IT. SOULJA BOY IS JUST A REFLECTION OF THESE NEW AGE KIDS THAT PUT EVERYTHING ON THE INTERNET AND ON YOU TUBE....I DON'T HATE SOULJA BOY FOR THAT. BUT ICE T CAME THROUGH WHEN IT WAS WAY HARDER TO MAKE IT IN THE INDUSTRY. IT WAS WAY HARDER TO GET YOUR FOOT IN THE DOOR, AND HE'S VENTING ABOUT THE STATUS OF RAP. I'M FINE WITH THAT, IT'S HIS OPINION....AND HURRICANE CHRIS DOES NEED TO TAKE THE BEEDS OUT, HE'S NOT 10 YEARS OLD!!!
I REALLY DONT CARE TOO MUCH FOR SOULJA BOY BUT I HAVE TO SAY SOMETHING BECASUE ICE T IS JUST TOO DANG OLD TO BE TALIKNG ABOUT SOMEONE LIKE THAT WHO IS OLD ENOUGH TO BE HIS GRANDSON
FIRST OF ALL WOULD YOU RATHER HE SELL DRUGS ON THE STREET OR GO AROUND ROBBING PEOPLE.
SECOND WHEN HIS RECORD CAME OUT WASNT IT THE NUMBER ONE SONG FOR WEEKS...SO IF PEOPLE ARE STUPID ENOUGH TO BY HIS MUSIC THEN HE WOULD BE STUPID NOT TO MAKE THAT TYPE OF MUSIC AND GET THE KIND OF MONEY YOU ONLY WISHED YOU HAD.
INSTEAD OF YOU TRYING TO UPLIFT THE YOUNG BLACK MAN CAUSE HE NEEDS ALL THE HELP HE CAN GET YOU ARE TRYING TO BRING HIM DOWN.
WAKE UP!!
WOW..JUST FROM SPEAKING TRUTH...I HAVE TO BE LABEL FROM NY. OK I AM FROM NY BUT THAT AINT GOT NOTHING TO DO WITH WHAT I SAID....DONT GET ME WRONG THERE ARE SOME SOUTH RAPPERS I LISTEN TO. BUT MAJORITY ARE CLOWNS, JUST WANNA SING AND DANCE WITH MAKE UP ON LIKE BLACK ENTERTAINMENT FROM BACK IN THE 50'S AND 60'S ACT " SILLY " OH THAT IS A TITTLE OF A SOUNG. *DUMBAZZES*
Soulja Boy is a *** child and I would rather hear a child rapping about a dance he made up rather than how many dudes he ***, or hos he ***, or kilos he sold on the block! Ice T need to sit the *** down...walking round here with a life-size plastic *** made by Mattel and got the nerve to be embarrassed bout hip-hop! In the words of Xzibit- "*** PLEASE!"
I AGREE WITH ICE T
SOILDER BOY IS WACK
HURRICANE CHRISS SONG IS A'IGHT BUT HE DOES LOOK *** WITH THOSE BEADS IN HIS HEAD /
AND ALL YALL SAYING THAT ICE T IS HATING
NEED TO LOOK UP WHAT HATING IS
ICE T IS A LEGEND
SO HE CAN AFFORD TO TALK ABOUT ANOTHER RAPPER
SOILDER BOY OR HURRICANE CHRIS WOULD LO0VE TO BE IN ICE T'S SHOES
NEXT YEAR ...WE WONT EVEN BE TALKING ABOUT SOILDER BOY OR HURRICANE CHRIS
WHEN A PERSON HAS BEEN IN THE GAME FOR AS LONG AS ICE T HAS YALL GOTTA GIVE HIM RESPECT
HURRICANE CHRIS AND SOILDER BOY ARE THE RAPPING EQUIVALENTS OF
RAPPIN DUKE...YOUNG BLACK TEENAGERS..,..THE DOVE SHACK....YOUNG MC.....THE ULTRAMATIC MC'S.........D-NICE.........357........ETC
louisianaboi, where you been? you're one of the reasons i started posting, cutie! LOL On the topic, he has to do something so no one forgets about him... unfortunately, hip hop is garbage now and it's not Soulja Boy's fault. The Gov't realized it had a real moneymaker on hand, started payin' ni##az, upgraded from gold to platinum, from benzes to phantoms, now it's all the little black kids dream... but true story, he seems to forget that these are teenage artists who make music for teenagers and kids, just like kriss kross, ABC, etc. they *** be listening to anything else... Teach your kids that there's so much more to be than a rapper or basketball player. it's or job as parents, so step up!
How could someone with one hit kill Hip-Hop??? Everyone give this boy too much power. Hip-Hop didn't die ***!!! ...and Soulja Boy is a kid, do we really expect his music to be mature or serious??? I love Hip-Hop but I've come to except the golden era of Hip-Hop has passed!! However that still doesn't excuse most of the songs today.
here we go again another hater he can't even talk the way he use to wear his hair im so tired of these old kats hatin on dese young kats soulja boy and hurricane chris could be his sons they wanna blam these youngin for that state of hip hop but it's these grown azz *** they act like snoop da brat flavor flav and jermaine dupri who r all old heads neva wore beads stay true 2 da hip hop history they actin like wat solja boy and hurrican chris is doin aint neva been done
I agree with Ice-T to a certain degree as far as the delivery of music. I feel the same way on that because anyone can just come up with a good beat and hook and call it hip hop. However, to talk about Hurrican Chris's hair when he's been wearing a perm and ponytails for year is wrong. I hate when the older generation talks down on the younger genertaion when they have done everything under the sun themselves. Just because the younger genertaion does it different from how they do it doesn't mean that it's wrong. This is one of the reasons why the younger generation act as they do because no one what to be a role model to show them how it should be done. Instead of running his *** mouth on how to do something he should lead by example. If I Ice-T wants to set an example, he should start off by cutting his hair first!!!
*** Ice-T its like that. We know that Hip Hop has changed and as always most new rappers are One hitter quitters. Just like Yung Joc, The Party like a Rockstar dudes(don't even know there name..LOL)who had huge hits now where are they at now. Hip Hop is not about the quality of the content but how much you can sell on ringtones. I don't agree how Ice-T came at Soulja Boy but I understand the frustration with the wackness that is coming out today.
F^ck him! That high hella *** ***!gga always talk about the "white man" ***!G YO FAMILY IS THE WHITE MAN! I'm tired of old *** *** hating on youngins getting money! Soulja Boy ain't hurt nobody! And he actually turned people on to Hip-Hop all those ring tones he sold! All those white kids mimicking him! Superman was the hottest song last year! Everybody and their grandmama know it! Stop hating! He isn't going to be around for 10 years!
ICE T NEEDS 2 SIT HIS OL A$$ DOWN & STFU AND GO DO SOME MORE LAW & ORDER SVU EPISODES........HIM BEIN A COP & A CRIMINAL IS THE BEST THING HE COULD EVA B.........OH AND A *** FR BACK IN THE DAY. HE HAS A LOT OF NERVE 2 CALL SOME1 ELSE IN THE RAP GAME WACK..WHEN HIS A$$ IS WACK. YEA SOULJA BOY IS CORNY & HURRICANE CHRIS ONLY HAD THAT 1 HIT....BUT THEY TEENAGERS (AND EVRY1 OVA THE AGE 21 KNWS THESE TEENS WILL MAKE UP DUMB SONGS & DANCES AND CALL THAT *** HOT, THEY ACTUALLY THINK IT IS..LET EM HAVE FUN ***)...WAT WAS HIS EXCUSE WAY BACK WHEN?. HE WANNA TALK SIDEWAYS TALK ABOUT THE PEOPLE THAT ACTUALLY PUT THAT *** OUT INCLUDIN HIS OWN ***..WHICH HE THOUGHT WERE HITS........NEXT!!!!!
WHAT ICE-T SAID IS THE TRUTH!! WE GREW UP LISTENING TO LEGENDS OF THE GAME: BIG DADDY KANE, NWA, ICE CUBE, KRS-ONE, MARLEY MARL ETC. TO HAVE A LIL YOUNG F*&KER LIKE SOULJA BOY (HE'S JUST THAT A BOY), HURRICANE CHRIS IS A "HOT GHETTO MESS"
HERE YOU GOT CATS LIKE: LL COOL J, REDMAN, ICE-T, RAKIM, TUPAC, BIGGIE ETC. OUT HERE KNOWN FOR THE HIP HOP MOVEMENT, ARE GETTING KIND OF DISRESPECTED BY THESE SUPPOSED TO BE RAPPERS RAPPING ABOUT ***@! I GOT THIS AMOUNT OF MONEY, I GOT THIS PRESIDENTIAL ROLEX (JUST PLAIN GARBAGE) I KNOW THE NEW MOVEMENT, I WOULD HAVE TO CALL IT "SH*! HOP" CAUSE NOBODY RIGHT NOW ISN'T SAYING ANYTHING THE PEOPLE REALLY WANT TO HEAR!!! EVEN JAY-Z IS AS TIRED AS HIS NAME!! (TRUTH) NONE OF THESE NEW RAPPERS REMEMBER WHAT IT'S REALLY ALL ABOUT!! THEY JUST SEE THE MONEY, POWER AND THE WOMEN!! THE RAP GAME IS SO TITTY NOW I'M THINKING ABOUT MAKING AN ALBUM WITH MY MOM ON THE TECHNIQUES 1 AND 2!!
SO BASICALLY ICE-T WAS BASICALLY SAYING IN A ROUND ABOUT WAY THAT SOULJA BOY, HURRICANE CHRIS, PLIES, ALL THESE NEW THUNDERCATS ARE DISRESPECTING THE LEGENDS WHO BUILT THE HOUSE THAT RAPS!!!! WHAT HAPPEN TO THE DAYS OF RAPPERS BATTLING IT OUT TO SEE WHO WAS BETTER THAN THE NEXT THAT ***??? WHAT HAPPEN TO HAVING A SHOW THAT EVERYONE COULD STILL MAKE IT HOME SAFE WITHOUT THE FEAR OF DYING AFTER A RAP SHOW???
ALL THESE "NEW" RAPPERS BUT WHO IS REALLY "TRUE TO THE GAME????"
he right....
but he's dead wrong....
see i dont have a problem with soulja boi or hurricane chris... i have a problem with Record Labels tryin to make every song sound the *** same....
Ice t was around when we had cats like the rappin duke, fat boys... and even heavy d... they were all gimmicks dawg... same with 69 boys but i bet you azzes was *** sure at a house party doing the tootsie wrong...
soulja boi is a kid rapper... i dont have a problem with him... hurricane chris: he does have a point with them beads...but the little cat got a hunger to him that i like...
But still, why do you all give Soulja Boy credit for being a 17 year old rapper? Foxy Brown was 16 when she debuted and made a hip hop classic with 'Ill Na Na' so I still have no sympathy for his country ***.
@ Broken Silence, LMAO! That *** you said about Ice T and his white man loving *** was some real ***! So true.
@eamarsha Let me get this correct, you would rather your KIDS listen to SOULJA BOY instead of "kill a B-----h or f--*** a b----h?" So, "*** slap day h-e" is a better choice for you KIDS? Is this your definition of setting an example? Have you listened to his CD? It is not the best CD for a kid to listen to. This is disturbing being that your are a parent.
What he said is the truth but it ain't gon change nothin. Being an older cat, you sometimes just gotta look at these young dudes, shake ya head and keep it movin. No matter who comes out and how many people say they "takin it back", that'll never really happen cause most of these young heads don't wanna hear that. Most of em don't read so how are they gonna overstand what a conscious artist is talking about. And nowadays all people wanna do is dance anyways so they don't care too much about the words, just the beat.
And for the person up top who said they would rather let their kids listen to Superman must don't know what Soulja Boy is talking about.
Lyle Flag post Soulja Boy credit for being a 17 year old rapper? Foxy Brown was 16 when she debuted and made a hip hop classic with 'Ill Na Na' so I still have no sympathy for his country ***. ^^^^^
with two of the best MC writtin for her .... Jay-z and Nas... ----------
Okay you gotta point! But trust me, Inga does her own *** (my cousin used to chill with her in Tompkins PJs) and still was a lyrical ***.
Soulja Boy just rapping about his *** ass report card.
I totally agree with Phorable1.... Soulja Boy is gettin his money and having fun while he does it. Personally Ice Cube needs to suck a D***!!! Soulja Boy is making music for his generation! About time an artists acts his age!! SB is abviously not a gangsta, so he makes music of what he does....DANCE!! What is Ice Cube doin these days??? Besides dressing up like f-ing Elvis??? Did he sign a deal with Vegas???
That's a real good plantation mentality you have that “… IS RETURNING TO DANCE”.
Look at the state of the union: gas prices are out of control, massive destruction in the US due to natural disasters with no help for the displaced (KATRINA STILL CONTINUES TO RAVAGE THE LIVES OF VICTIMS), foreclosures across the nation, lowest spending on public education, more prisons built than colleges; so just like master (record labels) did "Let's let the slaves have a *** of singing and dancing so they will be too busy having fun to think about running away." If these kids had some Public Enemy, X Clan, or even if REAL HIP HOP like Asheru, Mos Def, or Immortal Technique saturating the masses like cough syrup drinking Lil Wayne, maybe these kids could be conscience again. Instead the youth are running around chasing “chains and whips”. *** didn’t master give us enough of those?
Besides “Superman that hoe” is not a positive phrase if you took the time to find out what it REALLY means you sure wouldn’t want your kids reciting that garbage. So what he’s making money, slave masters did too, the same way –AT THE EXPENSE OF OUR CULTURE, HERITAGE, and SENSE of PRIDE. So what’s really different?
Do you all realize that "super soak that hoe" means *** on a woman? Or that "superman that hoe" means *** on a woman then putting a towel on her to make it stick to her like a cape? Real appropriate for a youngster huh? Do you want your kids running around singing THAT now? How about have your kids sing this to YOU.
Here's another POSITIVE MESSAGE from Sold out Boy
Just got my report card all F's, went up to the teacher's desk THROW SOME D's ON THIS ***.
What a GREAT ROLE MODEL, someone your kids should listen to.
I LOVE ICT T AND I RESPECT THE FACT THAT HE IS A LEGEND. AS A PARENT, I'D REATHER HAVE MY CHILD LISTEN TO SOULJA BOY (I DON'T CARE IF ALL HIS MUSIC SOUNDS ALIKE) "SOULJABOY" IS A FUN SONG FOR KIDS. SOULJA BOY DID NOT RUIN HIP HOP. HIP HOP STILL LIVES. IT JUST BRANCHED OUT INTO DIFFERENT STYLES. LOVE IT OR HATE IT. I'M SORRY "T"-I STILL LOVE YOU BUT LET THE KIDS BE KIDS. SAVE YOUR BEEF FOR AN ADULT OR YOUR CRAZY *** WIFE. SHE'S THE ONE WHOSE MAKING YOU LOOK LIKE A FOOL-NOT A ***.
I feel what Ice is trying to say but what needs to realize is that just like he had his time to shine, this new generation has there's also. Times change, music changes....nothing you can do to stop it. This hip-hop nowadays is targeted towards the young bucks, not the old heads. My kids listen to it, hell, I even enjoy some of the new music.....Ice, stop hatin on the kids and go back to attending to your 'Barbie Doll' named CoCo. He aint even have to go hard on the youngins like that...
ok I was happy that Ice-T spoke up against these wack *** young bucks but I have to agree that hes giving Soulja Boy wayyyy too much power..that little f*cker could never be the only reason why hip hop sucks..there were people before him and people after him that will be the reason why hip hop turned into some fake *** manufactured bullsh*t..and like someone said on a Lil Wayne post, this is something that people will never agree on..the young bucks will for the most part defend certain lame *** artists because thats what they grew up on..they didnt grow up on the legends like I did..they didnt see hip hop in its early stages and they cant connect with the reason why hip hop was brought to life and its significance to our people..the youngins see it as entertainment..the older heads look for substance, a message, a flow, a style, some meaning..its something we can agree to disagree on
Saintlewis, I agree. I remeber pumping the purple tape until it popped. I bought like six of them joints. Ice T is right, KRS and them were uplifting us, giving us lessons, self-esteem as black people as a whole. I got my ten year old open. I loaded up her i-pod with nothing but old school hip-hop. I mean she is allowed to choose some of the stuff on there, but I love to hear her singing MC Lyte, and Self-destruction and Audio two. We have to educate our children about music, just like our parents educated us about music, come on my mom always used to tell us where the samples in songs came from.
ok i wasn't even gonna log in but he has a serious point..even tho he is kinda hating he is right at the same time..soulja boy is pretty wack and none of his music has a message whatsoever...
oh and why did MTO find the worst lookin pic of ice t?? he has cut off that awful long hair already, please get some current photos MTO!
*** ICE T COON PIMPLED FACE ***...HIP HOP BEEN DEAD...HE'S WALKING AND CARRYING AROUND LIKE HE'S SOME LITTLE HIGH SCHOOLER WITH SOME MAN LOOKING PLASTIC WHITE BYTCH AND THINK HE HAS TO RIGHT TO CALL OUT A YOUNG TEENAGER...WHY IS HE PICKING ON SOME LITTLE TEENAGER? WHY HE DIDN'T GO AT DIDDY FOR ALL THE SHINY SUITS AND THE BLING??? WHY HE DIDN'T GO AT CASH MONEY? NELLY? WHY DIDN'T HE GOT AT ALL OF THE COUNTLESS OF OTHER ARTISTS OUT THERE??? YOUNG BLACK MEN SOULJA BOY'S AGE ARE DROPPING OUT OF SCHOOL TO LIVE ON THE STREETS ROBBING, RAPING SELLING DRUGS,, AND MURDERING PEOPLE FOR A LIVING...IT DID NOT START WITH SOULJA BOY..HE CAN GO TO HELL...HE'S A WEAK LAME *** BYTCH FOR GOING AT A LIL TEENAGER WHEN MEN *** NEAR HIS AGE HAVE BEEN *** UP THE GAME FOR SEVERAL YEARS NOW...DRIED UP ***. HE GETS THE HO SIT DOWN AWARD.
Hip Hop died with Biggie, this aint Soulja Boy's Fault. For some reason the youth because interested in all this down south twang music, frankly it irritates me. If I hear one more song about some candy paint drippin, or somebody dippin in a club I will scream. Lil Wayne included. YEAH I SAID IT! North-East Coast rap all day.
I'm little torn on the subject. Like Lyle said you've always had gimmick rappers and rappers who where more on the pop side, like the Fat Boys, Digital Underground, Kriss Kross, and Kid *** Play.
And Old School rap didnt always deep rooted messages. Remember songs like "Radio" from LL Cool J, and "My Adidas" from Run DMC? But, these cats did have good lyrics. Its was all about beats and Ryhmes.
LL was 17 when he made "Radio" and as he grew so did his subjects matter. I remember when Common first came out, he was rappin' about video games and all kinds of silly kids stuff, but at least WAS rappin, and the lyrics where good. As he grew so did his content.
Know hip hop has become, a producer driven industry, the MC is not as important when it comes to making hits. The problem with Soulja Boy is that he has no lyrical, or production talent. He's total garbage.
I do agree that those braids on Hurricane Kris look absolutely stupid. Those are what 9 year old girls wear.
@emarsha. I agree with you. I am not a soulja boy fan, but my daughter is and I would rather her listen to his music then some of this other music that talks about *** and violence all the time.
It's always said that parents should to contol what their children listen to and not put the responsibilty on the artist. With that being said. Wack or not, I am glad soulja created some music that my child can listen to and I hope he continues to do so......
Who ever hates Ice-T, but loves Soulja boy are stupid f***s who don't have a life. Everyone says "you're a hater" or "you're just jealous" because they cannot handle hearing the truth. Soulja Boy's music is *** and i got props on Ice-T. "Superman dat ho" is sh#t, not music and you stupid a$$ Soulja Boy fans need to recknognize that. Ice-t, Keep doing your thing homie!!
P.S: Your wife is beautiful!
I agree with Ice T...even though he is a grown *** man he *** had came at dem kids like that but his arguments are valid....and i read some one up there saying that hes making music for the kids....when i was a KID i wasnt listenin to bubble gum rap...im from brooklyn...we listen to real hip hop like nas biggie pac big l jay z wu tang i can go on and on....thats making music for the kids excuse is ridiculous....im very upset at where hip hop is right now....all of this marketing *** *** and gimmick stuff....i been listenin to hip hop music since i was 5 years old....on the real alot of these southern artist really aint got skills like that....alot of em cant freestyle...alot of em cant battle....how dare they call themselves MC's are hip hop artists....not allsouthern artist are wack...i would say out of all the southern artist ive heard 90 percent of them are garbage...hip hop aint dead yet but its truly dying and its sad....
Get this old dude out of here he is just mad cause no pays him any mind anymore...face it these kids are the future of hip hop and if you dont like them dont listen...I may not agree with all the music they put out but I do repsect their hustle and appreciate they arent telling kids to kill each other in teh street and f police like ICE-T was in his day...he is just mad because he got fired from Law and Order.....hahahaha go somewhere
the problem is that these young artists dont stay hungry..so they dont grow and mature as an artist..do you think LL and Run DMC were making millions of dollars when they first started like Soulja Boy is? hell no! LL was a *** and still living at home with this grandma in Queens..but he stayed on his grind and made it big, it took him a while though..there are old school acts who are pioneers and legends, and they are still broke..they didnt get record deals worth millions like these young cats are getting..these days, these wack *** rappers make one song and can make millions off of that one song..they have ringtones, internet deals and tv and concert appearances that they get paid loads of money to do..its a *** shame..why is a legend like Big Daddy Kane struggling to make ends meet, but some pimple faced teenager with no lyrical skills is able to live large and get more airplay and magazine coverage and video play than someone with actual skills..its a f*cked up business..and now, its all based on hype and illusions..none of it is real anymore
whats real funny to me is that Negros are really tripping on kats half there age well in this case 3x his age. music via it be rap, hip hop, blues, classic whatever is a tool to express yourself.. granted im from NY so this downsouth *** to me is to much but there are ppl that like it and based on the location nobody can really say hip hop is dead up north focus more on a hard beat and lyrics and in the south they focus on *** that will make you snap your fingers and jigg with it east cost is more real talk im in the ghetto woke up trying to survive, hoping i make it to the age of 24 and even now they have there version on dance music (hip hop ) just listern to music from the bay area yaddadamean (whatever).. point being different locations have there own meaning of hip hop and until ppl realize that there is always going to be talk about hip hop being dead.. when to me its really not it just advancing on a bigger scale one old heads cant understand (there just like the elders in church unwilling to make changes or see change)
nah you cant have your own meaning of hip hop...hip hop is where it is...NY mothered and birthed this beautiful thing called hip hop....my argument is just that alot of these so called rap artist are calling themselves mc's when theyre not...you being from ny would know what a tru mc is...what the true essence of hip hop is...thats break dancing djaying and rapping thats real hip hop...all cuz you spin records it doesnt make you a hip hop dj...people cant even scratch anymore...i dont even listen to the radio anymore cuz its all *** ***....im just saying i dont knock the south for what theyre doing but dont call yourself an mc when your not....
i do understand where he is coming from but hip hop has saved countless lives. much respect to NEW YORK for showing a nation of black men how to hustle clean money. even ice-t himslef would have been lost to the streets if it wasn't for this artform. even though i don't listen to hip hop like i use to .....let these young dogs eat.
ice-t been sold his soul years ago.....i can't take advice from a man who goes to the beauty salon for a touch up...SORRY
mzzliahs75 who said hip hop died with biggie....hip hop starting dying after gimmicks and marketing came into play and not skills...listen i know lil dudes from myhood 10,11,12, years old thatll smash alot of these southern artist in any level....its sad no one has skills anymore...big up LUDACRIS the real hip hop king of the south aint no one seeing that man....and please dont bring up T.I. cuz yall mustve not heard that stomp remix when they was beefin and luda smashed his ***
another thing hip hop got raped and ***...s/h/i/t/s dead man.....being that we don't own our own distribution.. we will never see a positive influence in hip hop because it is not controled by us. what our young kids see on TV is enginered to distroy them. anybody that talks positive will be *** down and not played. ice-t even sold out his artform when it was convenient. since he making money in other ways besides music he talks like this. i agree with him and yes he is a legend but he also can't be trusted.
well he is right about soulja boy someone had to stop acting like they liked his music & finally someone said the truth it sounds like that boy has some mental *** problems or like hes havin a seziure when he "raps" especially in that song donk yikes, but if ice keeps talking about people wearing beads & beretts in their hair hes gonna have snoop on his case
I can't beleive Ice T is making this comment. He said that SoulJa Boy music is garbage (hold on I'm not a fan of SB, but you have to admit the cong was catchy), don't ICe-T remeber when they called his gansta rap GARBAGE and how it was having a negative effect on the youths. People wake up, we live in a society that changes day to day, what's hot now will not be hot next week. Ice T should no that 4 sure. Daymun, T back off and let the youngin get in where he can fit in...if you made an album now it would not sell half of what Soulja Boy sold. Juat talking the truth
@truehiphop..Im from NYC and I have to agree with what youre saying..hip hop is a culture..not just about songs..and I dont feel any of these younger cats appreciate it or even try to acknowledge it..theyre all about the money..the cars, the hoes, the chains..they dont care about what hip hop really entails..what it means..they just want a fat check..since hip hop artists werent getting paid sh*t back in the days, they did it for the pure love of it..thats why its full of substance..its something they lived and breathed..they spent hours writing rhymes..practicing their dances, perfecting their tags for graffiti..they put their heart and soul into it..these days..everything can be over-hyped and over produced, so talent doesnt matter..its a *** shame..I think Ice-T is just discontent with the state of hip hop music..hes not hating..at the end of the day, hes a legend,.Soulja Boy will never be a legend..so hes not a hater hes just not happy with the garbage thats being put out there
man i can speak on this hip hop subject for days...Im from NY period..im obligated to stand up for my culture...my real hip hop culture...im tired of seeing people rape my culture and deface its true essence...i dont knock anyone from doing what they do...but im stating facts...90 percent of southern artist aint got skills....if you look at anyones top 10 mc's of all time youll probably find 2 southern artist on there...majority of the time its all eastcoast and a couple of west coast dudes...but everyone in the world knows the best MC's are breed out of NY period....everyone knows that NY rappers have the most skills and are the best lyrically...one thing i big up on the south are the beats...i personally love the beats....great producers are breed from the south...hip hop in general is dying....we need to take over our business and stop letting the white man make profit of our talents...lets make this money and put it back into our communities
This is a terrible look on the part of Ice T's career. Many proclaim him to be one of the established "legends" of hip-hop, and yet, he has to revert to levels of feuding with a minor for attention. This would've been more appropriate coming from his son, Little Ice. Then again, he's probably just mad because "Superman", and "YAHHHHH" got more airplay in his home than his songs. Wait a minute...What was his last hit?
Okay. Now I can see why he's bitter. Soulja Boy's racking up off of songs with no meanings, and he doesn't even have one! Life's hard B****! Get A Helmet!
I don't care much for Soulja boy or Hurricane Chris either. But getting mad and going off on them is not gonna make ppl like them less. Their audience is mostly ppl under the age of 18 anyways (with a few over 18 lol)and they loove them. It's funny how grown *** men give these lil niccas that much attention by going off on them and calling 'em names. They ain't even worth it and it ain't even that serious. They are pop rappers. Get over it ppl. Instead of these old cats bytching about it, get up and make some real hip hop for ppl to listen to or find some talent who can deliver it. And not only that, but promote it or just *** da hell up and quit bytching about it. It really don't make you look good.
well you can tell who the young people are on this post..theyre the same ones who buy soulja boy records, who buy Lil Wayne records and who have no f*ckin clue what real hip hop is..all they keep mentioning is how much money these young fools are making..thats what they base quality on..well, cant say its their fault, they didnt have the honor of growing up on the pioneers..they came around when the bulls*t music started selling, so thats all they know
IM REALLY DITTIN TIRED OF DESE FLOPPIN *** ARTIST DISSIN MUSIC OUTTA ATLANTA, MY HOMETOWN!!!! IF OUR MUSIC SUCKS THAT *** BAD, Y R WE RULIN, YES, RULING DA ENTERTAINMENT WORLD RITE NOW AS I SPEAK?????!!!! IT'S NOT A SOUTHERN MOVEMENT, THIS A *** ATL MOVEMENT!!!! AN 4 DA RECORD, DIS WHOLE COUNTRY CRANKIN' DAT SUPAMAN SO HATAZ GIT OFF MY CITY *** FALL BAK!!!!!!!,
I do agree to an extent with Ice T. The rap nowadays is garbage in my opinion, and obviously catered to a younger audience. I grew up in the 80's/early 90's when rap/hip hop were at its peak and the best content wise.
At the same time however, this rant is coming from a man who once upon a time rapped about killing cops.
In my opinion, hip hop died when it stopped being thought provoking and fun, and started becoming more violent and sexually degrading. Unfortunately if that's the kind of music kids like and buy nowadays, then what can we do? It is what it is.
Man *** them!!! All teenie Rappers rap like THAT!!! They aint say nothing bout BOWOW ROMEO LIL ZANYE Raz B All nursey ryhme having dudes bout how hip hop was dead... they jus hating cuz Soulja Boy KILLED It with YUEL!!!! *** didnt mention Pop it Of Boyz Soulja boy REJECTS!!! With Crank dat Batman!!! HATERS!!!
Whateva ICE T, doe he not remember that when he was making his Gansta Rap Songs the media said how he was corrupting our youths of the day. Well, as the times change the music change, your parents didn't like your music and you don't like the kids music. No problem, you probably won't like the next generation either. But, you must admit, no mater how much you hate Soulja Boy (me, me, me) it was a catchy tune that had you singing along, one hit wonder or not...Ice T needs to let the youngin get in where he fit in...just like Hip Hop did for him...because beleive it or not Ice T is nor never wsa HipHop.
To be real, if Ice T was to drop a CD today, it still would not outsell Soulja.
I have to agree with Ice T for some things, I mean, hearing that kid screaming yaaaaaaaaa b!tch yaaaaaaaa in our ears is not what I thought hip hop is; his music is good to dance with in a club, you cant deny 'crank that', I loved that but now calling soulja boy an artist is very too much lame on music, not even talking about an hip hop artist, he is just a kid who had the opportunity to find someone to produce his 'crank that' track, ppl liked that he sold a lot, then they made an album which was surely a huge mistake cause, there is no talent about this child, I mean please, I bet nicca doesnt write his own texts, can not even do a freestyle; he is truely a commercial artist; where will he be in the next years? the second single was already a flop. Only youngsters who wanna have fun listen to those 'superstars youngsters'. All they do is put some club songs or some to please ladies and all to have their money and go; just like Bow wow and other wack. I mean at 15 to 18, what do you really have to sing/ rap about? They are singing/rapping things they dont even know or experience (and not only them).
But I still think Ice T was not the appropriate person to say that, but I highly support his thought. And its not only soulja boy, today, youngsters are wack as hell, ppl want talent now , we're tired of the same sh!t, not only in hip hop, but in the whole music industry.
And it's not hating please, the truth, I was myself thinking the same thing, I'm sure a lot of grown rappers think the same; And dont say he is too old to say that to young soulja boy, I mean who is going to tell these kids that the hip hop music industry is not a playground? Bow Wow maybe? Hell of no, a grown *** man!
MTO PLEASE STOP WITH THOSENUMBERS TO TYPE *** IT!
ICE T NEEDS TO SIT HIS RETIREMENT A** DOWN SOME WHERE....FIRST OF ALL DUDE IS YOUNG SO OFCOURSE HE'S GOING TO MAKE MUSIC THAT YOUNG PEOPLE CAN RELATE TO. HE'S NOT A HARDCORE ARTIST, HE MAKE HITS FOR THE CLUB AND RELATED DANCE CRAVES. AND HIP HOP IS NOT DEAD, ITS A DIFFERENT GENERATION OF ARTIST, AND THE REASON MOST PEOPLE FEEL THIS WAY IS BECAUSE THERE IN THE LATE 30'S EARLY 40'S AND TRY TO RELATE NEW ARTIST TO THE WAY OLD ARTIST DID IT.... I'M COMPLETLY SATISFIED WITH TODAY'S HIP HOP, ITS MORE POSITIVE, LESS BEEF, AND HAS MANY INFLUENCES BEHIND IT..
also i hate when alot of people from southern states take it as hate...its just facts...cuz anyone please anyone name the top 10 mc's of all time....heres mine but not in numerical order
BIGGIE PAC NAS BIGDADDY KANE RAKIM JAY-Z EMINEM(I HATE TO PUT HIM THERE BUT LYRICALLY HES A BEAST) LL COOL J SCARFACE BIG L (R.I.P)
Remeber folks this is the greatest mc's not hip hop pioneers
i agree w/ ice-t these new nig*az can't rap for sh*t and everyone knows it thats why dummies bring up record sales like that means they make good music or something.......... these nig*az out here makin dance moves touchin they heels and sh*t like some little girls......nig*az get socked in the chest for that type of sh*t...........
Wow! He's wrong for that! To each his own! While he was making "Cop Killa" peeps were saying that we were wrong for listening to that gangsta *** and we should listen to more empowering and happy people like leaders of the Nu school, the guys who made that song that goes "to the east my brother to the east", Sister Soulja etc. They said the HE and ***.W.A. and everyone that first started calling women *** and hoes and claiming to be pimps was the cause of hip hop dying. I dont even think that Ice T's music fell into the category of hip hop, I think they called it gangster rap back then and rappers like Marley Marl and a tribe called quest was considered hip hop. And speaking of death, didnt the L.A.P.D. file a lawsuit against him because after he came out with cop killa, young black men started *** cops in the face for no reason and one guy was paralyzed behind it among others killed?(that was a dumb lawsuit) If we do not evolve then we will all have to listen to the same rap song to the same verse behind the same 3 beats since 1979?
He kills me. Ok, I will agree that with this new school rap, it is HORRIBLE. It degrades women, talks about killing, and selling and doing DRUGS. We need to uplift our people, we can alredy see a decline on our young black youth. Every other day, something happens. Everyone wants to glorify negativity. I was born in 80, and I can remember a time when guys were respectable to women and wanted to have a good career. Ice T, has some nerve pimping out his white wife, and his lyrics, how is he respectable. In my book, he is just as immature as these kids today, he needs to grow up. SOME NERVE!
@JADEFOX
POINT PROVEN....THESE LIL KIDS NOWADAYS DONT KNOW A *** THING ABOUT HIP HOP...I WANT ALL OF SOULJA BOYS FANS TO TELL ME WHAT WAS THE FIRST RAP ALBUM TO EVER BE PUT OUT..WHAT YEAR WAS HIP HOP BORN...TELL ME WHO THE GRESTEST DJ OFF ALL TIME WAS...I WONDER IF THEY NOW ABOUT THE ROCKSTEADY CREW...OR IF THEY EVEN SAW THE MOVIE BEATSREET OR EVEN CRUSH GROOVE...MAN THESE LIL *** KNOW NUTTIN BOUT HIP HOP
wait im sorry plz explain to me because who said hip hop had to be all real gangsta when is a *** gonna be able to relax let his press and perm hair down and just do him. If you don't like it don't listen to it. and lets be real T wasn't all that back in the day anyways and he still trying to stay relevant by being on law and order Loves that show LOL but he barely a actor either so why is he talkin. Heres a question why are all of you rappers trying to be actors and pretend like yall don't know yall are whack.
You know what I have a quick temper and mouth after thinking about it he kinda right but still I stick to my last question and the point if you don't like it don't listen to it but I give it to him he right all it is now is a way to publically degrade women and be dumb LOL. but now c'mon most of you talkin *** still do the superman and prob. still call someone on the phone and say HEY BABY. HAHAHAHAHAHA lets be real just because T spoke don't mean you have to switch it up bunch of *** followers.
I don't believe he said that, but I feel the same way excluding the profanity that's not called for,but they suck! Honestly I don't consider their music to be hip hop I think its just some catchy tunes for little high school kids and some adults. We should let them have their shine through because what would they have to listen to? The teens today could understand the realnest of hip hop they could only understand silly little frases like Ah Bay Bay or Superman that Hoe...
Man soulja boy, hurrican chris, ice-t etc. are not the reason fro hip hop dying it's fools like rexchap & ISIS that killin it by sterotyping the south. Nobody was saying the South was wack when OUTKAST, SCAREFACE, LUDACRIS etc. were hot. Why so many Northerners feel they are the only ones who can tell a story of substance??? Nobody was saying the West was wack when ICE CUBE, SNOOP etc. were hot. Black people (us) are killing hip hop because we can't even come together in the same d a m *** country. Everything is East, West, South & North Coast...NO UNITY. AIN'T NOBODY start s h i t but the Radio Stations and the Television. The only reason anything became hot was because of the these two things. If a person just had to hear the beat and lyrics only (without it being played 100 times on the radio and without a video) many of the artist from each coast wouldn't be hittin on s h i t. People both young and old now base many of their liking to a song because of a video or if it was drilled in their head from other communication avenues such as radio station, clubs etc. Stop the self hate first and then maybe we can have better hip hop. If you pay attention both to R&B and Rap the artist mostly talk about somebody hating on them and that is only a reflection of how we feel and treat each other. There are plenty people in mainstream media that speak positve and with substance from all coast but keep it real you ain't checkin or them. WE ARE KILLING HIP HOP NOT THE ARTIST OR CORPORATE AMERICA...stop buying the *** h i t and instead buy REAL s h i t...We the buyers control hip hop!
Also the sad thing is the South is always imbracing every coast's music either it be west, mid west, or north but for some reason we gets no love. We even so much embrace my lip gloss is poppin, chicken noodle soup, ballin (Dipset), DMX with all that d a m *** barking, Lil Kim with her ghetto *** (No matter what people say-look at that video again...lol), Cameron with all that pink s h i t on and I can can go on for ever but trust me you know what I'm getting at. All I'm saying is each coast has their share of foolywang but the south embraced it all and showed much love to all and all we ask is the same respect. Take the good with the bad like we do with your city period!!!
Sooooo the plot thickens. I respect Ice's comments, but he needs to realize that this is a new era. The game is forever changing and this is the times of "Crunk Music." Soulja Boy is geered toward a broader spectrum of people, children. If he tried to go gangsta, everybody will probably reject him, just like they did Cris Cross when JD tried to make them Gangsta. Bigups to Easy E, 2-Pac, Biggie, Ice Cube, Big Daddy Kane, Run DMC. There are artist like 50-cent and Lil Wayne whom are considered more provocative, hard-core rappers. Ice needs to chill and understand that there has to be variety in this world that we call "Hip Hop". We see that he like variety when it comes down to woman. Hell, he picked a snow bunnie to marry. Black men could be digging in his *** about that!!!!!!!!
Might I add that this is a world of profit margins and popularity. Hip hop use to be about the lyrics and the depth of the words spoken, but in a whole, not anymore. What sells is what is played on the airwaves and in the media. The record companies don't make a real profit off of artist unless they hit the one million mark. It is the people's choice that makes this industry stay afloat. Unless you are signed by an independent company, the record execs are making all the ***. Soulja Boy is profitable and easy to market. Coincidentally, Lil Wayne just sold a million, so there is variety in this game. What "real" parent is going to buy their ten year old child gangsta rap. We have to be open and stop the hatting and let everyone make some money off of this industry because there is plenty to be made. Like the old saying goes, "Don't worry, be happy!"
here we go wit all da statistics and *** but lets be real soulja boi jus doing somethin he love to do ice t may be a legend but he must show respect to younger gen. and da comment about da south cant rap *** u crazy hip hop aint dead it lives in da south new york rap is done and west coast is straight trash
Man i'm kinda surprised Ice coming at these lil' dudes like that. That nicca like 40 plus and these boyz ain't even legal yet. Talkin' bout they killin' hop hop....man dem boyz is just havin' fun and gettin' paid! What Ice need to realize is that they not makin' music with the objective to become one of the top ten rappers of all time...they makin' music that their peers can party to and have a good time. Man i'm gettin' tired of people complaining about what hip hop is and what it ain't, let's talk about gettin' money! And Soulja Boy is definitely gettin' money!!! Now Crank dat Bit*h!!!!
May the truth be told. While I share the same sentiments as Ice T, in regards to where hiphip/rap is today, its changing and it will continue to do so. I'm from the big daddy kane, Rakim and I cannot forget the trensetter and teacher himself "Blast Master KRS-One" era. This era in hiphop defined a generation. Hiphop redefines generations. And I believe we are witnessing, the surge of a new hiphop generation. Artists, such as lil wayne, soulja boy, and hurricane chris are representers of a new and authentic sound and generation. Some may feel these artists are hot, some may feel they are wack. If you come from the golden era of hiphop/rap i.e. Kane, krs, juice crew allstar, marly marl, red alert, nine, nas, ultramagnetic mc's, Run DMC, LL cool Jay, digital underground, featuring tupac, EPMD, Das Effects, The Hit squad, de la soul, The jungle brothers, A tribe called quest, Leaders of the new school, mc lyte, sal *** peppa and the list goes on. My point is, the artists represent a generation, particularly those of us from about 30-45 represent the golden era of hiphop/rap. The new arists represent the new offsprings of hip/hop from the ages of 15-25. this doesn't mean that someone from the golden era can't feel the new generational sound of visa versa, its all about what floats your boat Peace!!!!
P.S. I never considered Ice T one of the best rappers in the game, in fact I always thought he was wack with an old school sound. But hey that's just me... His acting career however is off the hook. I love what he has done in colors, new jack city and now law and order. There always a place for some in entertainment. The process of finding the niche is what takes a while, for some dreams to come true.
Some listeners or artists from the east coast don't understand all types of music from the south. we embrace what we like, and disrespect what we don't. Jay Z, Nas, Pac, and Biggie, represent some of the greatest influences in East Coast hiphop and thats one of the reasons its a difficult task, encouraging east coast listners or rappers to full embrace dirty south hiphop, we are not used to it. At least a good portion of the east coast. Its not about hating the south. I don't think you could hate what you don't understand or feel. You could just express your oppinion on what you like and what you don not care to like, in regards to what you feel is real hiphop/rap.
You know what? I am so sick of people talking about Hip Hop ain't this no more, Hip Hop is dead, the South killing Hip Hop. STFU!!! I am an older person and yes I do believe Hip Hop has changed. I remember rocking to Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Pete Rock and CL Smooth, Dana Dame, Slick Rick, etc. And of course the GOAT Tupac. Sometimes I get sick of the way Hip Hop is now but I understand that with time, comes change. I know when I was younger, my parents probably talked bad about the music I chose to listen to. Like why is she listening to that garbage? And our parents were probably saying the same thing, that music isn't what it was before. I would just like everyone to get over the fact that Hip Hop is changing and stop *** about it. Live with it. Besides, didn't Ice T put out a song called F^ck the police? What he wants everybody to make songs like that? GTFOH Ice! Worry about your siliconed ***! If you don't like it, don't listen to it!
@BROWNSPADE All those rappers you just named influenced hip hop in a whole not eastcoast hip hop...remember where this started at aiight...
Also some one up there said that eastcoast rap is dead....obviously that person has never traveled the world...out of the usa people out there know NY rap music reign ssupreme...it took a NY label (DEF JAM) to sign the man ludacris who really put the south on the map...I mean you had master p and cash money but listen to those lyrics str8 garbage..all im saying is that rappers nowadays need to be mc's....I'm obligated to defend my culture...we originated this...people from around the country embraced but turned it into some gimmick and marketing ***/h/i/t/....please lets bring hip hop back....the rap battles on the corner streets or on your block or wherever anytime any day...the dj competitions....if you dont believe in that dont call yourself a hip hop artist....just call yourself the whitemans money maker
Is this the same MOFO that had that whack *** show on MTV where he was trying to make rap stars out of a bunch of kids who didn't even know Wu-Tang from Naughty by Nature. I know music is no where near the way it was, but *** thats why its always an unnecessary beef between artist. That boy aint sai nothinabout Ice-T. He probably don't even know who this fool is until now. Ice-T, go make sure your COCO got cha money. And these kids aint killin HH, you did with that last tired *** album
also ICE T is a garbage rapperhe aint even mentioned for *** except that cop killer ***..but i dont knock that song cuz it was in a time where police officers were beating and killing black people for no reason so i wasnt mad at the song....id play that *** today due to what happened to SEAN BELL in jamaica queens(RIP)
He got his nerve talking about anybody. He walk around with a white chick with a fake butty. Anybody that fake has no room to talk. I love the music (Soulja Boy and Hurricane). Gets you out of your seat dancing instead of bangin on other black men. This idiot has no sense and to be honest *** be allowed to speak about anything with his fake self. I grew up listening to Ice T but evidentially he NEVER grew up.
@ rajah82 Nas said it first Hip-Hop is dead. died when ja rule started sing on his albums. i'm tried of dancing music everyday on the radio get back to the lyrics
Hip Hop is far from dead, its just that more people only support these sell out @ss rappers. People like Flo Rida, Soulja Boy, Hurricane Chris. These lables are only going to put out what sells, and thats these corny rappers. And how is Ice T hating when he is only saying what true hip hop fans would be saying. Anyone that says Ice T is a hater is the main reason that these corny rappers are making it. I dont like Soulja Boy or Hurricane Chris and many of these new "rappers" so does that make me a hater? NO!!! It makes me or someone like Ice T someone that is fed up with Hip Hop.
@ rajah82.......Hip Hop is far from dead, stick to the underground. Just because real hip hop doesnt get air time on the radio doesnt mean that it's dead. Nothing against you but that only shows your ignorance making such a comment. I would tell anyone to listen to Royce Da 5'9", Crooked I, The Chedda Boyz, The whole M.I.C camp, Dirty Glove Entertainment, Lil Wyte, and so many others that are truly keeping hip hop alive. But at the end of the day people like Soulja Boy only get over because of white people mostly supporting them. Im no racist, watch a performance of Flo Rida, Hurricane Chris, Soulja Boy on MTV and many of these corny rappers and the main people in the crowd and major supporters of them are whites.
EliteSista I agree! I never knew anyone in my life that f ucked with Ice-T like that. So that *** igga need to sit da f uck down and *** da f uck up! How he gonna tell someone to "MAN" up, when he rocks ponytails and is married to a piece of plastic! Just look at da pic MTO has posted of him, he looks like a f uck boy!
**And to CLAUDOLO y'all NY muf uckaz kill me. You act like when hip hop first came out it was a certain way and that it is supposed to remain that way. Time moves forward it doesn't stand still. Hip Hop has evolved many different ways you had the party hip hop back in the day, political hip hop, gangsta rap, and now it's coming back to the party atmospere. And you stated that downsouth rappers are fools and just wanna sing and dance, WELL what da f uck do you call songs like "Chicken-Noodle Soup" & "Aunt Jackie???" It's the same type of songs!!!! I'm not hatin' I love dance songs, but it is the same thing it doesn't all come from the south! You probably just mad cuz you're a wanna be rapper and your cd's you're trying to sell outta your trunk are flopping! LMFAO
@Truehiphop: I know that biggie,Jay,and nas influenced the game as a whole, I'm just saying the impact of the influence is felt more in the east coast. Take the Game for instance, here is a west coast rapper who sounds so east coast, I bugged out when I heard he was from the west. The power of new york influence is everywhere from west to south but the impact is felt very heavy in the east, new york to be specific.
Peace!!!
Hip hop is not dead, although the industry has been cluttered with every sort of criminal and bad actor who are the true haters because they hate their own people, and they say things to cause other people to continue in the very same hate. The style of music that they are using are something other than hip hop. I like to call it C-rap(***). The true spirit of hip hop is still alive, but its not being financed by the major or minor label because true hip hop never killed a black man, but this c-rap has a body count and all the bodies are black, not white, indian, or mexican just black. So,I support you Ice-T and anyone else who like to bring true hip hop and all the big business it derives, and bringing in to the dark days of hip hop known as this gangsta era which should also be a beginning of the end of all this black on black violence and hatred. Remember that black is beautiful, black is powerful, we are one nation divided only by what we perceive as true.
**I agree with Soulja Boy What is Ice T doing to help the situation nothing!! And why would ya'll give Soulja Boy all the credit for "Destoying Hip Hop", if that is your position it's been dying
but if like me you disagree you know that is not everybody just have different ways of expressing themselves and this is a new age so that means different style everybody can't be famous or stand out if everybody doing the same thing...**
