: You hear so often about celebrities getting arrested for doing the wrong thing. Well not this time. MediaTakeOut.com has learned that Travis McCoy, the lead singer to the group Gym Class Heroes, was arrested yesterday on assault charges.
Well here’s what happened. The band was midway through a show on Tuesday night when McCoy noticed that an audience member was hurling racial slurs at him. Travis invited the concertgoer onstage. And when the unnamed man lunged at him, Travis busted the man in the head with a microphone.
And there’s more. MediaTakeOut.com learned that immediately after the altercation, McCoy apologized to the audience, stating, "When someone calls you something that's ignorant and that offensive, you have to bash their head in with a microphone."
Maryland Heights Missouri Police Department officials later arrested MCCoy, who was released on $500 bail.
the dude that called him that was saying it because he might feel that this guy "travis" thinks he is white. besides why pay for a ticket to see someone just to call them names? thats just pure hate.....he went there just to see if he could get away with it. it wouldn't matter if the fan was white or black i would probably react the same way travis did. even other blacks don't realize that not all blacks consider them selfs ni/g/ge/rs because it's ignorant.
He *** have just beat him down, but put his foot in his @ss while he was on the ground. One day these arrogant racists will learn to avoid unnecessary @ss whoopins. The punk who said that mess was just jealous of him because he is a star and now his dumb @ss will most likely try to sue to get paid knowing full well he initiated the confrontation.
@ imabadchic Flag post this happened in st. louis.. per Reliable media reports.. the concert goer was a black guy and he was arrested as well. He's still in jail because he had an outstanding warrant on another charge.

I can't believe that some of you didn't know that Travis is mulatto. *** E ways, I met Travie a few years ago when they were still Indie. He's one of the coolest musicians I've ever met. Real sweetheart, and I wish him the best in all his endeavors. This kinda surprises me because when we met he doesn't seem like the type whom would throw down, but I guess I was wrong. It's actually kinda hot that he stood up for himself like that. You know what they say...If you stand for nothing...
I thought being where he was from and being in the genre of music he ws in, would make him use to that, but just because he's heard it before doesnt mean the offender cant get an *** beat down. What makes you think that a rock star isn't gonna whoop someone's ***...The first person that commented said "is he even black"...what do you live under a rock or something..Yes he is black..I honestly think he is biracial..but there is black in him..plus why does a person have to be black for the *** word to sound offensive..All my friends are from many different races..and if someone came up to me and called me the *** word and my white friend or spanish friend or asian friend just stood there and acted like the word was nothing..I would cut them off right there..I think that Travis thinks that because he is in a band with his white friends that nobody is gonna call him the *** word..The fact that he stood up for himself is a wonderful thing..I don't think I ever heard of a rock person being a nonviolent person..have you?....I applaud Travis for standing up for himself..BTW..I wonder how many people are going to say "who is Travis McCoy" or my favorite "what is Gym Class Heroes"..rotfl..
Plus for you people that don't know..Travis raps to a rock beat..or sometimes a rap beat..but Travis is a rapper that is in a rock band..its funny because they will play his cousin on BET right now..you know that song that goes "Put the lime in the coconut and twist it all up"..and Travis is in that video..but BET won't play any of his songs
