I will start by saying I don't have the financial means NOR the INFLUENCE that Mr. Cosby does. Secondly, you say he has changed MILLIONS of lives. That simply an over statement. More blacks youths may be attending college now but thats in comparison to low numbers in the past. It still doesn't compare to other races let's say for instance hispanics. Now, what I propose is far from implausible (although the dramatics that accompany that is worth an honorable mention). It is very possible. Who is saying that he has to come out of pocket w/ the funds to undertake such a potentially uplifting project. LOANS, which he would more than qualify for, even if that weren't the case, the vocational school would pay for it's self, much like running a government funding assisted living home, only on a much larger scale. You elaborated minimally on what YOU choose. Not what I asked. My question is what purpose did him shinning a light on a situation that many people of all cultures knows exist. No one is asking him to be a savior, mine personally is if he cares enough to challange black men to do better, I challange him who IS in position to help, to do just that. Other than that, who cares about his opinion. Him helping college student who have obviously helped them selves, is nothing, it makes him an elitest of sorts. NOW as far as me caring about what ANY particular race thinks; you are sadly mistaken. I have been turned off and let down by my own people so very long ago, that I took measures to insure I get the life and lifestyle I both, deserve and desire. I stand in the midst of other cultures who freely discuss how they see minorities. Largely because I'm on the arm of my white accomplished husband. You mentioned you live in ATLANTA, last month on our way to D.C, we stopped there for a couple of days. I can't express how anxious I was to leave there. Quite frankly the presence of that many black people is not what I consider a vacation. I am critical of my own race, I just don't do it on a podium. I accept that there is much room for improvement and I leave it at that. Because I am in a certain position I don't clown people I know how aren't as well off as I am by pointing out where they went wrong. If I open my mouth at all it is a sincere effort to help them do better. Lastly as far as the man power to accomplish something like I propose, STAFF. No different from the workforce program put in place by the govenment to transition women from Walfare to working. He could simply appoint a board (useually board members get recognotion, not pay) to oversee the program in different cities.Who would'nt want their name attached to a project like this, particularly with Mr.Cosby at the helm. FYI government housing sits on regular parcels of land, there are no stipulations as to what happens to them once CONDEMNED, I doubt seriously any manicipality would'nt be receptive to someone renovating and abandoned eyesore, and bringing jobs and hope into the community. It's easy to sit back and point out others faults, that does'nt take a genius. It's does however take character and courage to change the lives of a people.
