She was saying that we treat our veterans so badly that in the future the only way we could have a military is to have a draft. She said we would need a draft to s "send people to the gates of hell". Many of us still have a thinking that it doesn't matter to vote because of this and that, or whatever theory we come up with. You know what I'm saying. In 2000, if more people had stepped out to vote, it would have made a difference. I'm 19 and still young in thought, but this is my first time to vote, and I want to express my choice, cause I feel that I have too. Gov takes taxes (MONEY) out of my checks, I feel I need to have say in how my hard earned money is spent, we all should. Lets express the importance of registering to vote to our peoples, friends, family members, and people we don't even really know, we might meet some cool people like that. The purpose of that ladies speech was to call for better treatment of veterans not for a draft. While She did mention a draft would be needed if we continue to treat veterans this way the speaker nor mccain is calling for a draft. The speaker is calling for better treatment of veterans. That is the important part of the video not some off hand statement that is used to draw attention to urgency of the issue. Again, the issue at hand is the mistreatment of veterans. If I thought they were calling for a reinstatement of the draft, I would be upset to, but that is not the case at this moment.
Okay I'm with all the F#CK McCain comments, but did anyone else notice that he didn't say a damn thing about a draft. She did to demonstrate how bad it is and he said he agreed with everything she said. You can't put words in someones mouth like that. That is what is wrong with the political process. I don't really care who wins...nothing that matters to me will change...gay marriage won't be legalized on a national level(not that I want it too that just an issue people are concerned about), the draft wont be reinstated, abortion won't be banned, we will still be in iraq, gas prices are going to be what gas prices are going to be...Black people think Barack is going to be the silver bullet for all the problems of the black community he won't since the problems with the black community aren't government related. Plus the president doesn't have as much power as people think. People don't know anything about the way government works. They need to take a course in us government. It is a system of checks and balances...congress and courts have just as much responsibility as the president for what goes on. He didn't say we needed a draft but at the end that woman basically said that if we dont have a draft we wont have anyone to chase Bin Laden to the gates of hell. McCain said he doesn't disagree with any of that. He should have disagreed with a need for the draft. I am a veteran myself and I know how hard the Army works, I was in it for 6 years. I’ve noticed some of the posters are arguing “semantics.” Does McCain agreeing with what the woman said mean he would reinstate the draft, or is he simply agreeing with what she said about the poor treatment of veterans?
Well, in the world of McCain “semantics” is a VERY important word. By his own definition, since he DID NOT state that he didn’t agree with a draft being reinstated, it is not only reasonable, but absolutely correct to assume that he would indeed reinstate the draft under the premises that Bin Laden must be captured while at the same time waging war in Afghanistan, continuing the occupation of Iraq, and perhaps preparing to defend our allies that are [EXPLETIVE] off Russia with the installation of OUR missile shields.
People have to remember that this is a guy who said after 9/11 American’s should NOT have been encouraged to just proceed on with their lives as usual, but instead (during the heightened patriotism that ensured) should have been encouraged to join the national guard, reserves or one of the active duty branches of service. This is a guy who fancies himself as some great military mind…yet during “his time” he graduated at the bottom of his class, instead of being an “ace” got shot down, and then proceeded to produce propaganda pieces for the Vietcong….now like junior (bush) he wants to achieve glory on the backs of America’s military, like some child playing war with green plastic pieces that they could really care less about….no direct effect on themselves.
“Semantics” are important here….Mr. Straight talk meant what he said, directly or indirectly…his slowed mental abilities just aren’t quick enough to process a lengthy question/statement (break it down) in the manner where his answer hides his true intent/beliefs.

Most other countries have a draft system, and it doesnt mean you're getting shipped off to war, especially in peace time. It would actually help some of the low life's running around without any guidance to learn some discipline and make something out of themselves, instead of sittin on mom's couch playing ps3 and xbox smoking weed all day.....think about it.

McCain is trying to start a new cold war with Russia and he is also having ambitions on targeting Iran. Now you and I know that the troop numbers are not that high. And in order to get these troops he is going to continue "stop loss" which will keep troops that have served multiple terms in the military, take low-income people in, or because they are desperate they will try to reinstate the draft.
Before Bush, I never thought a country with no WMD would be invaded. I never thought after a hurricane a president would avoid his own people for five days. But under the leadership of the neocons anything can happen. It is Murphy's Law, the worst that can happen does happen.
