@ ugottaluvme - "JUST FOR ME" is still a relaxer. Its just mild. The same thing you could you, except it has a child's face on it for marketing purposes. Speaking as a hairstylist (13 years, son! LOL) I never suggest a child get a full relaxer until they are about 9 or 10. But if you arent gonna maintain it properly (as often as you do your own), then dont even do it.

The pic doesn't show much, BUT I will say that i'm truely an 80's baby (born in '78), and BACK IN THE DAY (when only entertainers sported weaves, etc.), BLACK MOTHERS always made sure theior daughters hair was done. BLACK MOTHERS DID NOT PUT EXTENSIONS OR WEAVES IN THEIR DAUGHTERS HAIR! I miss the days of seeing little girls wearing their hair braided nice and neatly by their mothers (AND THEY DIDN'T PAY THE AFRICAN BRAIDER TO DO THEIR DAUGHTERS HAIR), and do little black girls even wear beads in their hair anymore? ***..just too grown nowadays.
My lil mami, 9 years old has beautiful natural hair like her Mommy. Locks just flowing down my baby's back and she is gorgeous with it. By the time she is 13 her hair is going to look incredible. Black women,we have different options when it comes taking care of our hair. Explore wearing your hair natural if not for yourself do it for your daughters.

I bet your daughter looks like the little princess she is with her locs. When I have children I will not destroy their hair and put them through the torture of a perm. Natural hair is divine and the sooner we realize that the better of we will be.

Do people actually stop to think about the effects of relaxers on the body, I mean if you have to apply it with gloves then surely it cant be that good or safe right? I received an E-mail a while back talking about the dangers of chemicals on the body and it spoke of relaxers claiming that they can cause cancer (although I'm not really sure of that)they too mentioned it can bring on early puberty, which is maybe why you'll get some young girls rocking big breast and big bumper at the age of nine, it makes you think.
Well, my daughter's hair is really thick, so I keep it plaited with beads in it...
On the story, do NOT ever perm/relax a toddler's hair...when I was younger, I remember this 3 year old girl that had her hair permend, and she was BLINDED!! Don't remember if it was permanent or temporary, but she had patches over both eyes and couldn't see... apparently the chemicals affected her eye nerves internally... so be careful!!! (not sure if it makes sense, but hopefully the point comes across!...lol...)
This girl that works with me, her mom permed her hair that young! Guess what? She's *** near bald at the top of her head now because of her mother's ignorance!!! You want to know WHY the mother did it? Because she (the mother) has two older children that has "good" hair, and she didn't want her baby girl with her natural, nappy hair feeling left out!!! Aint that some ***!!! People got seroius problems for real.
you know i can't tell if that is a perm in that childs hair or not cuz it does look like a hair piece just put on top of that baby's head and the pic is so grainy i will say however that my daughter will be 3 next month and she rocks the *** and barretts and colored rubberbands just like a little girl should i do have a friend that knows absolutely nothing about the texture of my daughters hair b/c my daughter is biracial so she has 2 different textures in the front its more wavy and in the back its more coarse and she asked me why i didn't just put a perm in her hair i had to explain to her that it would make her hair break off and fall out due to chemicals and that it isn't something you should do until the child is at least 10 years old. it just goes to show that not everyone knows the chemical affects on kids even if it seems like common sense to most of us.
that baby is too young to have her hair straightened. her hair will break off and plus she needs to look like a three year old. I got a relaxer at maybe 6 or 7 but I got it taken out b/c my hair was turning red. I didn't get another one until 11 years old. mothers, don't get your daughter's hair relaxed too soon b/c it will get damaged.
