Loyality is becoming more of the rare. How many sistas would be with a man who and only a pot to *** in? Then he is suppose to dump the nonblack woman just to marry a black woman who wants to bask in his glory???? There are some sistas who may be with a man who starts out with a little. I am from the dc area and that is(in my opinion) a fantasy. Sistas in the dc area are very into who you know, can you get them into special clubs and parties and other nonessential items. First, I used to live in DC and I totally agree with you on the vibe there....Its nice that there are a lot of professional black folks, but ***, I have never come across more superficial negroes in my *** life as I did there.
Loyalty in general is more and more rare....And that applies to people across all races and backgrounds. The most important thing is to find someone who loves and supports you for you...And when you get into marriage, then its about someone who has your back through the good and the bad....If a man or a woman finds that, they would be a complete *** fool to throw it away for a superficial reason.
No race has the market cornered on loyalty or faithfulness....I hate the broad generalizations that people make on here, especially those about black women and men...There are loyal and supportive women of all races just like there are selfish and superficial people of all races. Derek found a woman who has stood by him both when he had nothing and later when he had it all...He is blessed for that.

As a lot of guys can attest to the fact that when you put on lotion and leave the house and then has to drain the lizard it can cause problems. You wash your hands afterwards and the antibacterial soap strips every bit of lotion off your hands. Men don't usually carry a purse so they never have backup lotion. Dude's date doesn't look like she would have a emergency bottle of Jergens in her purse so basically he is screwed.
Solution; Black men in interracial relationships should start asking their dates carry an extra bottle of lotion for emergencies.
@Godwell i see your point. i have heard black people say many a day "they jus like us". But never have i heard a hispanic say those words. Black people has always tried to associate theirselves with something they are not. You here the "my grandma half white she got hair to her waist" or "thats that indian in our blood". People do not want to be associated with afican blood.

I could not have put it more eloquently...beautifully said...I happen to see Derek and His wife at church in NYC and the way they interacted with one another...you could tell this man truly honored and loved his wife..as she did him..and when you looked at them LOVE is what you saw..and color never became a question.
