I tend to disagree. Black kids are NEVER adopted. I don't have anything against people adopting bi-racial but I do have a problem with people adopting foreign (African, Asian, Chinese, Korean). There are 1,000's of black kids here in America that needs love and help too!

It is pretty ignorant to criticize him for adopting a biracial child instead of a black one. Had he adopted a black child, you all would be criticizing him in the same way Madonna and Angelina Jolie were criticized. He would've been accused of adopting a black kid because it's the new trend.
I don't care who celebrities adopt or for what reason, be it a trend or whatever. At least some previously unlucky child is being cared for and now has a chance at a wonderful life. And who are we to tell anyone who to adopt? We're not paying the child's medical bills and other expenses! Therefore we have no say.
Also, if we as black people would stop abandoning our children(and we do, at an alarming rate), so many would not need to be adopted.

What MTO didn't state is that his wife had two miscarriages and that he also has an adopted daughter. How do you not know that they just fell in love with the little boy? How do you not know that he adopted him before the Hollywood craze of adopting kids? Stop assuming and research for correct information. It must be an American thing to believe everything you hear. The fact that Hugh Jackman adopted a "local" child rather than a "designer" kid from Africa or Asia,etc, should be commended, the race is entirely unimportant. EVERY child should grow up in a stable environment. But let's not forget that it is sometimes easier to adopt a foreign child than is it to adopt in the States. I happen to know several regular (non-famous) white people that have tried to adopt black children only to be told by state social workers that they would be considered only if more suitable (black, perhaps?) adoptive could not be found. So who's fault is it now?

Growing up I actually had a friend who was black that had been adopted by white parents as a young child, so it does happen in rare instances.
I just want to say something in response to everyone criticizing Hugh saying he should have adopted a black kid instead of a bi-racial one. If it is true that most black kids aren't getting adopted it infers that neither white nor black couples are adopting these kids so I think it's a little unfair to criticize only white people, that they have a mentality that a black child isn't "good enough". I'm wondering why there isn't a call for black couples to adopt children in foster care. Just putting it out there...

I have 2 adopted children. And they are black. And I have raised 4 foster children. It ain't easy. The adopted kids I got at birth. The foster kids between 6 and 18. The foster kids fight you like hell but you gotta stick to it. They tend to blame the world for the situation their parents, or lack thereof, have put them in. And they tear up your sh!t. Windows, cars furniture when they get mad. Be prepared to spend money on fixing things. But after about 6 months they settle down and you see their attitudes mellow and they finally realize the world is not out to get them. I have had my heart broken when a crack mom has sobered up in time to regain custody of her children. I had a child for 3 years and the court ruled the child should go back to his mom. It tore me and the kid up. So don't come at me like that because you don't know me. When I speak about adopting black kids I speak from passion and from history.
@whatwhatwhat: I give you credit for fostering children because I know that *** is not easy especially when you are dealing with older children who know full well they have been abandoned and have psychological and emotional issues as a result. I think that's the reason so many couples look to overseas adoption versus adopting here. Most of them want babies, not older kids.The majority of people today are lazy when it comes to parenting as it is. They don't want to deal with an older child who may come with "baggage" and that's why so many of these poor kids in America never get adopted.

And, what the fu<*** does "pure black" mean. All my family members are black, but I pretty sure theres some other races involved somewhere down the line. Does that make me impure?
If you've never adopted a child then *** cho' *** phuckin' mouth, and be happy for these kids. In the end thats who its all about.

Ain't that the truth. I tell my kids they have 2 jobs in life. That's to do good at school and to have fun. That's it. I think that's how adults have to look at it too when raising foster kids. The kids have no responsibility. Give them none. Except get good grades and have fun. They will start taking on more all by themselves when they calm down.

For all of you on this "pure black" tip sh@t.......How you feel about Brother Malcolm X???? How about Frederick Douglas??? Both were teq Bi racial people.... MOST of our historic, liberation figures are teq bi racial and in NO WAY pure black ( with the exception of a few). In the US there is NO seperation between Bi racial and black... Bi racial IS black. You would be HARD PRESSED to find a PURE negro in the African American population anyway...... So STOP hating if you have not adopted any "pure" black kids your *** self. Get a clue and an education!
