: ATLANTA (AP) — A judge on Tuesday ordered rapper T.I. to pay more child support to the mother of two of his children after she claimed he wasn't providing enough money.
Superior Court Judge Bensonetta Tipton Lane told the two-time Grammy winner, whose real name is Clifford Harris, to pay just over $3,000 a month to LaShon Dixon. He had been paying about $2,000 per month.
The judge also said the 27-year-old performer must continue to pay for the boys to attend private school, uninsured medical bills and expenses related to the children's extracurricular activities.
Tipton Lane also awarded the couple on Tuesday joint custody of the boys, ages 7 and 8. Dixon, 28, was granted primary physical custody. The children previously spent about 40 percent of their time with the rapper.
Dixon's attorney, Randy Kessler, said his client is still unsatisfied with the amount the judge ordered T.I. to pay but is happy to receive more child support.
"Every little bit helps," Kessler said. "She was just getting by with the children, while they lived a different life with their father. It can't be complete opposites on the other side."
An e-mail to one of T.I.'s lawyers was not immediately returned Tuesday.
He also has two sons with his fiancee, Tameka "Tiny" Cottle, of the defunct R&B group Xscape.

If anyone knows about child support, then they know that the amount granted is based up what the persons income is. if T.I. was only ordered to pay 3g's then he obviously don't have it like that. and for the person who says that he raps about millions, who doesn't? you have rappers coming on the scene who says that they've been holding all types of paper from way back when, and you believe them? She recieved a standard increase that many of us women here in Atlanta qualify for. This increase was based on his income, so don't get cauught up in the bling bling. Georgia law allots up to 17% of the guys income, but it also takes into consideration the income of the mother. This heffa HAS NO INCOME. SO SHE AUTOMATICALLY WAS AWARDED AN INCREASE! They factor in his other children, her income, living standards, cost of living in the provided zip code..etc.. etc. I live here in Atlanta,and i've expererienced the child support bs. the laws recently changed and is very complex now. What's disappointing about this story are two things:
1) These women, with no skills, can not look at these men as banks. How was she barely getting by on $2,000/month? If she worked that would've supplemented her income to care for her boys.
2) Teach your boys not to have *** with every Jane and Sally Mae. Teach him to protect himself. I constantly told my oldest son that there was no baby making out there for him. And most courts take into account the mother's income. A coworker of mine, with 3 kids, had custody of his children and their mother refused to work. The judge wouldn't even make her work at a convenience store. That's so unfair to the father.

I'm not about to praise this man for doing what he's SUPPOSE to do. Taking care your own kids is standard so comparing him to what some other individual is or isn't doing is a moot point. I think the fact that he can afford to pay an amount of child care that is above some peoples income is equally irrelevant. A court decides each persons level of support based on state law and what that person makes. They don't take half a man's income, not even 30%. At the end of the day, the children that live with you are utilizing 100% of your income and resources. What is asked of a non-custodial parent is meager in comparison. Now in this situation, his income level is so high that yes she's doing herself a disservice by simply living off of it. But all you or anybody can do is what they are suppose to. How somebody else uses or abuses that resource is beyond your control and not worth stressing or having sh.y...t fits online over. The kids are taken care of, and he's paying his "court ordered" share. That's just what it is. I'm a woman, and no other woman can give me a bad name when I'm the only one responsible for my actions and the life I live so please quit with these overused cop out cliche's. They are tired.

okay i am all for a man paying child support because the babies wernen't made only by one. but i do have a question. she wants her kids to live the good life right, so can she afford her half of the good life? can she pay for half of private school, or extra activities. because yes she has primary custody but the boys spend more than a weekend a month with their father. so if that is the case she needs to provide receipts to the judge and he looks at them and then decides okay. is he paying his half is she paying her half? with no job how in the hell is she paying her half? it drives me crazy when you get some women who have it okay and would have it better if they did their part. i am sorry. i am not going to ask my sons father to pay his half of private school when i can't pay mine. nor medical bills not covered by insurance (who is paying the insurance to keep them insured, probably him) or for them to participate in sports. and i view kim porter and the rest that don't do *** the same way. they worked for theirs you work for yours and both take care of the children financially not just one.

I can't believe some of you are saying since his father lives in a mansion then the child should live in a mansion with his mom too. WTH?!!! I don't think so. Child support is for the financial expenses to raise the child, not live lavishly. Living in two mansions has nothing to do with child support.
These antiquated judges need to stop looking at the salaries of the celeb and take into account how many other children he has plus other expenses he's paying. If TI is paying for medical, dental, private school and extracurricular activities, this should be deducted from her monthly support. She should also have her own income.
To me, with the boys spending 40% of their time with their father and TI paying a huge supplement to their mother, plus helped her get a home, she should receive no more than the cost of living plus to clothe and feed the boys. That's it. $2,000/month was fine.
They wouldn't want me to be a family court judge! These women would learn that a baby by a celeb is not the gateway to wealth.
