: NEW YORK (AP) — A representative for Janet Jackson says the singer has been hospitalized after falling ill shortly before a concert.
According to statement released by W&W Public Relations, the singer canceled her concert in Montreal on Monday after she "got suddenly ill" during her sound check and had to be rushed to the hospital just before show time.
The statement says Jackson is being monitored at the hospital and hopes to reschedule the show. No further information was given about Jackson's condition.
A phone call placed to W&W after hours went unanswered, and a representative did not immediately return an e-mail seeking more information.
Jackson, 42, is on a North American tour.

probably anxiety attack. either that or they lied because of poor ticket sales. in this day and age, the way the economy is acting up, no one is trying to pay over 100 bucks for concert tickets for someone who has reached her peak. I love Janet, I grew up on her, but I have rent to pay and I cant see myself paying 150 bucks for a ticket to see her at this point. maybe 10 years ago, but not now. all of her songs that I love are from 1986-2001.nothing really past that. This is getting old. When Janet doesn't feel like performing she suddenly "falls out". I'll never forget I had FRONT ROW SEATS to her Rhythm Nation concert in St. Louis back in the day. She did one song and then ran off stage, and never re-scheduled. I was beyond disappointed and furious. I've never had front row to anything since, and I got one song out of it. Of course I hope she is alright, but this has happened many times so I am suspicious of how "sick" she is.
You can tell quite a few very young people post on here. Since when is 41 or 42 considered "old?" Janet looks great, dances great and is still a young woman.
I guess to someone who's <19 or 20, 41 seems old to you. Well, its not.

Janet Jackson Released From Montreal Hospital Singer's Rock Witchu Tour scheduled to resume Wednesday in Boston.

Janet Jackson has been released from the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal, a hospital spokesperson told People.com on Tuesday (September 30). She was discharged after spending two hours at the hospital on Monday *** for a still-undisclosed ailment.
"Yesterday evening she was checked into the Royal Victoria Hospital and left a couple of hours later," Rebecca Burns, the spokeswoman for the McGill University Health Centre, which operates the hospital, told People.com.
The singer, currently on her Rock Witchu Tour, "got suddenly ill during the sound check" in Montreal and had to be rushed to the hospital, a rep for W&W Public Relations told TMZ.com. E! Online reported that Jackson hopes to reschedule the tour stop.
The tour, which also features LL Cool J, is slated to continue through October 22, although Jackson's Wednesday show at TD Banknorth Garden in Boston has been postponed "due to illness," according to the venue's Web site. Her Philadelphia concert on Thursday was still on schedule at press time.
It's been a bumpy tour — and year — for Jackson. On Friday, she postponed a show in Detroit due to "production constraints," according to TMZ. Last week, Jackson announced that she would be parting ways with Island Def Jam Records after just 14 months. The singer's publicist noted that the label agreed to dissolve the relationship upon Jackson's request.
In March, Jackson released an album that reflected a return to her mid-'80s Control era in more ways than just the title. But since debuting at #1, the album has sold disappointingly, according to SoundScan. In interviews, Jackson hinted that she was unhappy with the way things were working out with the label.
Monday's ailment isn't the first illness that Jackson has battled this year. In April, while promoting Discipline, Jackson missed an appearance on "Saturday *** Live" due to illness. Boyfriend Jermaine Dupri told MTV News she had bronchitis.
