: GREENSBORO, N.C. - (AP) Janet Jackson has postponed three more shows because of an undisclosed illness. '
Her publicist said in an e-mail late Saturday that Jackson was postponing a Saturday show in Greensboro, N.C., one on Sunday in Atlanta and a third on Tuesday in Fort Lauderdale.
A statement from Jackson said she arrived in Greensboro, N.C., hoping to perform there Saturday, but a local doctor advised that she not perform after it became "evident" she was not fully recovered.
Representatives for the 42-year-old singer say she became "suddenly ill" and was hospitalized Monday night in Montreal shortly after she arrived for a show. She also canceled concerts in Boston and Philadelphia on Wednesday and Thursday.
Jackson's publicist did not elaborate Saturday, only saying she was "recuperating." The note said Jackson will return home, at her doctor's direction, for further treatment.
In the note Jackson asked people to keep their tickets for the postponed shows, and said the promoter is working to reschedule dates.
Jackson is on her first North American tour in seven years.

To all of the people that says she's pregnant, I concur. That was the first thought that came to mind when I heard that she had postponed another concert. It makes sense, she just needs to retire fully and be a mommy. Her career is not what it use to be and she isn't either. I don't understand these entertainers, shucks get in and get out! Make way for the up and coming artist and let it go.
For anyone figuring she's pregnant, think again. Janet has been pulling these stunts in every tour she's done. So unless she's been pregnant on every tour she's done in her career, methinks that's not the issue. I've been to every Janet tour she's ever done (though I have no interest in seeing this one), and EVERY SHOW she did here in Philly were rescheduled "due to illness".
I mentioned on here a few days ago that 1 of my best friends is a Sales Exec with Live Nation. And he told me that this illness issue of hers is caused by low ticket sales on this tour. So far, she's only had 2 sellout shows out the first 11! The Philly show only had sold 4,700 tickets in a 21,000-seat arena before she "fell ill". The BankNorth Garden in Boston had sold only 3,500 seats in that 20,000-seat building. And the remaining shows on the tour ain't doing much better. At least, in previous tours, ticket sales weren't an issue when she "fell ill" & had to postpone shows. But now, just like with her record sales, her tickets aren't selling either - which makes the "illness" look more related to poor ticket sales.
So for the Janet Freaks (I love her too, but we gotta be realistic) who never wanna admit that she's fallen off in the sales department just because she's an "icon", enough is enough & it's time to stop pretending the fall-off isn't happening. If Beyonce or Alicia were to sell ONE LESS COPY than usual, some of you'd be telling them they're washed & to sit down. Yet Janet can sell 10% of what she used to, and some of us are saying "Huh? NOO SHE'S DIDN'T FALL OFF! IT'S CUZ OF THE SUPER BOWL 4 YEARS AGO! UM, IT'S THE RECORD BUSINESS, NO ONE SELLS BIG NUMBERS ANYMORE!!" Oh no? Tell that to A. Keys or Beyonce or Mary J. or Timberlake or Ne-Yo or Chris Brown or even Lil Wayne -- ALL of whom are still putting up huge numbers to this day. Just my 2 cents, thanks.
I hope she gets well soon. You people have to remember that before she is an artist she is a HUMAN BEING! she gets sick just like the rest of us. I'm just hoping it's nothing serious. and for all you people talking about her age and that she's through, STFU!!!! Janet is a pioneer. If it wasn't for the Jackson family, half of these *** artists of today wouldn't be *** becuz they wouldn't have nobody's style to jack! (yep I said it). So respect her! and again, get well soon JJ!
@ matman12600 maybe they do appear to an older crowd now...but Im under 20 and me and all my friends would KILL to see Michael perform live. He is a legend. All the Jacksons have inspired so many people. her tour is a bust and they will save more money canceling the shows than putting on shows that cant sell tickets. point blank. this is all a stunt.her "people" release statements to the press saying that she has some illness, that she was in the hospital, out the hospital-blah blah blah. Janet, just cancel the whole tour, call it a day and start doing shows in Vegas like Cher and Toni Braxton. you will definitely sell those shows out with no problem. Toni didnt have a hit records in YEARS but her Vegas shows were always sold out. I couldnt get a ticket to save my life! so Janet, I recommend you do the same thing Toni did. I love me some Janet but Im not paying $200 for a ticket to see a 42 year old woman perform hits from 1985 and on top of that, try to be all current and up to date and gyrate her body like a 25 year old, its just too sad. I would rather listen to her songs on my ipod and check out her old videos on you-tube for free

There are many elements to the reasons why its slow sales.
One..the ECONOMY. TWo the ticket prices!!! Three. Janet's Music isn't what it used to be, in fact, things started declining after the "Janet" album in 1992. When Jimmy and Terry started following "trends" which was not the "better" way to go. Even though that record was still better than others out there..but was a far cry from Rhythim Nation and Control.
Production VALUE has incredibly slumped since early 90s. Music has been cheapened from eating "Neuhaus" chocolates to Russell Stover (removing the higher cocoa content) making it a cheaper quality product.
And further more, Jermaine Dupree is not helping Janet's career. He's thin on musical talent and doesn't get it! Why are we choosing our music to be of poorer quality and lack of so much talent? Even the musicians in the 40s through the 80s were far superior than what we have the choice of today. These people can't even play instruments and only know how to sample real artists from the 70s and 80s.
Let's get a clue people and start pointing those facts out to the youth..and make them hear the difference.
