as the election gets closer and closer my hopes of him winning are deminshing b/c i think that the "final" votes are all goin to come down to race other than politics or what that person could do for this country, and there are many, many, folks out there who dont want a black man for president and would do anything to keep him out, so i wouldnt be surprised at all if he didnt win.......i hope he does though, we'll see.
Talk to your people. I am still running into nuts who claim they are not voting and without any good reason. This is the time that they should be showing movies such as Selma, Lord Selma which is about black people trying to obtain the right to vote. Where the minister put, negative websites about the Obama campaign and told the church that "Obama is pro- choice for abortion, and Jesus does not want him in office"!!!! I was very up set when I went to church today and was forced to listen to this one sided sermon. I feel that every should have there choice of who they want to vote for. However it is not acceptable for a pastor to give a sermon, encouraging members to vote for Mccain. I feel like the minster was completely out of line!! ***

Many whites? How about MOST whites? Obama doesn't even come close to winning unless most registered white voters vote for him. African-americans and hispanics make up a small percentage of the electorate. Obviously the black and brown vote will help him, but to win he must win STATES, some of which have just one black person in the whole state like IOWA. Yes, many of these whites are showing their true racist colors, however, to be the first black president, Obama needs a majority of whites to vote for him. And this is why he has a commanding lead.
Just got home from volunteering. I took my son with me so that he could see how it feels to truely "be down for the cause". We covered 120 homes in St.Louis, Missouri county today and 110 yesturday. So for only 2 people have stated their not voting for Obama and 1 has stated he's still undecided. However, most of the people I've encountered are Obama supporters both black and white. Obama has organized his campaign very well. However, we need more people to drive non-drivers to the poll. It's that serious!

I can appreciate all the skepticism but polls are always unreliable when a certain side's candidate is down. They use the polls to show slight advances or even when they're candidate is on top but when he's down, suddenly polls can't be trusted. It's more about being a sore loser than it is about wanting accuracy. And then there are some who use it as a trick - if they can convince you that your candidate isn't doing as well as you thought, it takes the wind out of your sails and suddenly you're not so inclined to advocate for him or even vote. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. And trust me, I'm not into conspiracy theories - it's true. Politics can sometimes be devoid of logic...like Obama's Aunt's status with the INS being leaked a few days before the general election. Feel free to disagree with me, though. I'd actually like to know why pundits and supporters can be so fickle when it comes to polls.

@dteacha: Clinton didn't get rid of welfare. He put a 60 month cap on it for people who've been using as their life long job. I'm sure by now many of them have found ways around that cap too. A crook is always thinking of a way to beat the system.
I know people who've been on food stamps over 10 yrs. Now that's just trifling. If you continue to have children you can't afford, you will stay in poverty. That's the bottom line.
