Editor's Update #2 - Obama won his first 2 towns - Dixville Notch and Hart's Location, N.H. Obama defeated McCain by a count of 15 to 6 in Dixville Notch, where a loud whoop accompanied the announcement in Tuesday's first minutes. The town of Hart's Location reported 17 votes for Obama, 10 for McCain and two for write-in Ron Paul. Independent Ralph Nader was on both towns' ballots but got no votes. The towns have 115 residents between them.
Editor's Update #3 - Exit poll update. Apparently the networks are keeping EXTRA TIGHT tabs on exit polling information. So tight that our usually reliable network source was unable to get the info. All we're being told is that things are "looking good" for Obama in Virginia. We'll have numbers sometime after 5 PM. Check back then...
Editor's Update #4 -The first exit polls for the 2008 election have been released - though not poll numbers but, rather, perceptions on particular issues.
The key concern to most voters, far and away, was the economy, which 62 percent of respondents say was foremost on their mind.Iraq, once thought to be the chief issue of the election, was chosen only bt 10 percent of voters are their primary concern.
Meanwhile, nine percent of voters said terrorism was the top issue, the same number who listed health care.

I had to do the absentee ballot, but my dad did the early vote and waited in line for 6 hours! But, it's okay. It's for the greater good. The feeling he felt when he finally cast his vote was well worth the wait. I have never been so anxious and excited about a presidential election before. We're about to make history!

You know, I woke up yesterday and the first thing that popped into my head was, there's a very real chance of another stolen election this year.
You know how sneaky repubs. are; they're already trying to convince dems. standing in line that they are supposed to vote on the 5th instead of the 4th. They probably have way more tricks up their sleeve that we just haven't heard about.
Then it occurred to me that if McCain steals this election, he will be the president and I have NO IDEA what he will do in office. Obama's has told us several times what he plans to do, but McCain hasn't said what he plans to do - he only bashes Obama and/or tries to contradict him. The man doesn't seem to have any real platform or substance, which tells me he's DEFINITELY going to be another "W".
Furthermore, all his "maverick" jive and "war hero" b.s. is just that - B.S. He wasn't a war hero; he graduated BOTTOM 5TH of his class, he crashed 5 planes, AND got taken prisoner, but was released when they "found out" that his dad was a general. Hmm, I wonder how they "found out".
That's no hero in my opinion, and I certainly don't want someone with that kind of war experience in charge during wartime.

There is definitely trickery going on. ******************* I don't think there is any trickery going on. i think the suburban people...(at least the ones here) voted early. i live and work in a suburban area and as i passed i noticed the long lines all week. So they are all done with voting. A lot of blacks have waited until the actual day of. That's an option as well as it is just a good thing. It means that we just have record turn outs and a lot of new voters. a CNN analyst said last *** that he felt that in some areas black turn out would be in upwards of 97% of registered voters..old and new showing up. lol! everybody that is black and can vote ..are out voting today. it's amazing.
There's definitely trickery going on in the hoods. The Rachel Maddows show exposed it. How they give them broken down machines. The longer lines to deter people from voting. They did a whole rundown of how they try to suppress the minority/poor/young vote as that's usually the demographic of the Dems.
That Kennedy guy spoke about it. How to steal an election. His book is titled somethign to that effect. He used to do work for the Republicans but got sent to jail and now he's dishing the secrets.

Honestly, the brevity of Obama being the first Black president just hit me this week. I voted for him in the primaries because I liked his health care plan better than Hilary's. It have never seen so many people out to vote @ my precinct. I got to the polls @ 0645. There were at least 250 people in front of me, but was orderly and went smooth. It was funny watching the expressions as people walked into the building to see the line wrapped around the hall and into the gym. I saw first time voters who couldn't have been more than 18 years old and elders who couldn't vote back in the day. I get "misty" thinking about how they must feel to go to the polls in Mississippi to Vote for A Black Man to be the Leader of the Free World! It's A Wonderful Day! I was at the polls at 7am PST. Of course there was already a line wrapped around the building. Of course it was like 6 black people and the rest were the conservative whites in my neighborhood. Why can't we be at the polls standing in line when they open? I know a lot of non-black people are voting for Obama but it would have been nice if we all could have rallied together for a moment or two this morning before going to work. We wear the T-*** but do we wear the conviction?
And why were the police at the polls? Not to keep the peace. Of course not. They were there to give tickets to all the non-regsitered vehicles. Pulling over black people and asking for license and insurance, etc.
They are doing whatever they feel they need to in order to keep that Black Man out of office.
The last thing we need to do *** is act ignorant. I am excited if he wins and saddened deeply if he loses but either way it goes I am not going to party, get drunk, drive home, and get arrested becuase that is what they expect us all to do.
Lets be intelligent w/ this triumph. We are already too vocal w/ our intentions so "they" know what we are planning to do before we even do it. Praise in silence. I've been up since 3am, I was at my polling place at 6am on the dot! There was a line and only one machine, seemded crazy to have only one machine when record numbers of voters were expected to turn out. All the poll workers (old white women) all said they had never seen a line. One said in the 10 years she's been working the polls there had NEVER been a line. After watching the final debate the other ***, it dawned on me that Obama could actually win this thing. If that happens, there will be a lot of people (some of our co-workers
included) who will be afraid that an Obama presidency will usher in the end of days. They'll be watching us on November 5th (the day after the election) for signs of the end times.
To keep the peace and keep a lot of folks from getting nervous, I think we should develop a list of acceptable celebrations and behaviors we should probably avoid - at least for the first few days:
1. No crying, hugging or *** "Thank you Lord" - at least not in public
2 No high-fives - at least not unless the area is clear and there are no witnesses
3 No laughing at the McCain/Palin supporters
4 No calling in sick on November 5th. They'll get nervous if too many of us don't show up.
5 We're allowed to give each other knowing winks or nods in passing. Just try to keep from grinning too hard.
6. No singing loudly, We've come this Far By Faith (it will be acceptable to hum softly)
7. No bringing of barbeque ribs or fried chicken for lunch in the company lunchroom for at least a week (no chittlings at all) (this may make us seem to ethnic)
8. No leaving kool-aid packages at the water fountain (this might be a sign that poor folks might be getting a break through)
9. No Cupid Shuffle during breaks (this could indicate a little too much excitement)
10. Please no Moving on Up music (we are going to try to remain humble)
11. No doing the George Jefferson dance (unless you're in your office with the door closed)
12. Please try not to yell----BOOOO YAH!
13. Just in case you're wondering, Doing the Running Man, cabbage patch, or a backhand spring on the highway is 100% okay.

I will feel like I took my place in an historical event instead of backing down in defeat before even giving it a chance to become a reality. I had to go out and support that man because he represents me well and I appreciate him for that and I want him to feel that. The least I could do was vote. Imagine if no one went to vote because they felt the way you did...we would look like fools. Not taking advantage of the right our ancestors have shed blood for in the first place. Let whats gonna happen happen but at least I know I did my part.

So, check this out. Deerfield Beach, Fla. is one hour south of Palm Beach. Nearly 400 people were planted firmly in line at 6:15 this morning, waiting for the polls to open at 7:00 AM. There is one voting machine to accommodate all of them.
The area almost entirely African American. Many of the people never have voted before. One woman was 101 years old. She was wheeled into the polling place and on her way out she said that before she died, she wanted to vote for a black man.
Election monitors noticed a man in line who appeared to be a voter. Turns out he was a saboteur, telling people the Democrats were supposed to vote at a different location.
Some of the voters said they were robocalled last ***. The message -- Democrats weren't supposed to vote until Wednesday.
UPDATE -- Election officials just delivered seven more voting machines.
