To everybody commenting on Beyonce, why not see the movie first before you say anything else about how she's not "Oscar worthy." I agree that she wasn't in "Dreamgirls" but have y'all seen "Cadillac Records" to make an well-informed decision about how she's done in this movie? Y'all got the bootleg or something? As far as her acting goes, I agree that she wasn't all that great in her past movies, but I will say that you can tell that she is working on it b/c it's getting better. "Dreamgirls" is one of my favorite movies and her acting wasn't greatest but it was better than it was in her previous movies. I'm gonna go see the movie first and then I'll judge her acting based on how she does. (My main reason for seeing the movie is b/c of it's interesting storyline.)

And another thing, I don't get what's so wrong with setting goals and trying to achieve them. Y'all act like she's sitting up there trying to physically steal the Oscar. I won't deny she is talented and hardworking and I am not trying to come off negative, but I highly doubt this. As a singer, I think Beyonce is a good performer, but she's clearly not a very strong actor. And that's the truth. It just hurts my heart to see so many hard working actors struggling for years to get their big breaks, closely studying their craft, while these singers/rappers get cast for these roles almost "automatically" because they're big names and have been in the industry, and will help sell tickets. What also hurts me is that some black actors who have been in this business for decades are so UNDERRATED, but yet so talented. And this very very mediocre actor is sparking up talk of some "Oscar Buzz." She must have made a DRASTIC improvement on her acting skills. I don't mean to sound like what you guys would call a "hater", but this is a very touchy subject for me because I am a young black actress, and it has definitely been a struggle. But before I say anything more, I'll have to see the movie first.

The movie is not based around her character. It' based on Addrienne Brody's character. Who created the record company. She is just one of the many singers that were on the label. Please learn your music history please. Also read Etta's biography then maybe you will see why she was not a good choice for playing her. We have to stand up and say to these people that they can not choose who we see as our talent and how we are represented. Angela Basset played Tina Turner and Killed it. She was not a singer at all, but you thought she was the real thing when you saw the movie. You thought Larry Fishburn was Ike for real. Now that's Oscar winning acting.

pinkloy, Hollywood is crazy but I think the new appreciation for independent films makes up for it a bit. Studios want to make money and often choose big stars to work toward that end, but independent films are often really artistic pieces, genuinely artistic and good, I mean. And there are indie flicks and several actors and actresses from the genre generating tons of Oscar buzz as well. So, my advice to you is rest easy for at least truly meaningful films and performances are being celebrated at last.

I think that people are beginning to confuse Beyonce's singing ability with her acting. I haven't seen the movie yet, but every movie she has been in has centered around her singing at some point in the film. I personally believe that in order for her, as a performer, to seriously be considered for an Oscar, she is going to have to step outside of her comfort zone and truly act. That's just my opinion.

It must not take much to get an oscar nowadays...There are a few african american actresses who are better than her on their worst day so I doubt that it happens.

girl, the world is about variety. Everyone is not going to enjoy the mature artist, let's be realistic about this thing now. I am not a huge Beyonce fan, but i did like her last cd. As i get up in age,,(i am now 29 and holding)...i like artist like John Legend and Mary J Blige more now. It's just a matter of choice and taste.
