I have a teenaged son and I know what he is capable of. I will always defend him, but I won't say anything to make things worse. Right now, its not a loy of real evidence against him but if she keeps talking that may put him away. She needs to keep her mouth *** and just let the lawyer do his job. If asked for a comment, all she needs to say is that she loves him and stands by him.....thats all. If she keeps talking, it may kill his case

The woman is crazy but I don't think her son killed the Hudson family simply because the police assumed it was him, they didn't do any further investigations, they arrested him on the first day or next day after the murders and who knows it might be a friend of this girl who is she is talking about. I am in NO way supporting him, heck maybe he did it but the police should keep on looking at other people as well and not focus on this one guy because he has a history of attempted murder.

Eventhough his mother seems uneducated, I would want my family out there proclaiming my innocence also IF I DID NOT DO IT!!! We would just do it differently. I think the police needs to do some more investigation rather than jumping to the obvious. I thought the boy was in custody when the child died. I think the underlying case is related to drugs and per the boy's mother the gun was found in Jenifer's sister house so why was she not questioned. I think they the brother, the sister - they were all involved in drugs - selling, using - they owe some drug dealer money and this is the result. Police needs to do some more investigation
This isn't the first time an entire family has been murdered. It is a sad unfortunate incident for all parties involved, especially those that have lost a loved one. Personally I think there is more to it than what has been reported to the public. I am not a criminal minded person, str8 hood, nor are forensics my area of expertise. This case has to be solved, and it will be at whatever cost. There are too many loop holes in this story. First of all THIS YOUNG MAN WAS ARRESTED THE SAME DAY THE MURDERS HAPPENED....WAS THERE NO FORENSIC TESTS RAN TO SEE IF HE *** A GUN????????? That is the first question that popped into my head. IF HE DID THIS IT WAS KNOWN BY OFFICIALS THE DAY HE WAS ARRESTED. I can't give an opinion on his guilt because the man is innocent until proven otherwise. This entire tragedy is so sad because people lost their lives over NOTHING. It is also devestating to the loved ones left behind that have to endure all of the details surrounding. I hope the family remains prayerful, and rely on one another to get through this.

Well said. We are all on the same page where this is concerned. This mother is making some noise, but an even better thing for her to do is to go talk to the streets. They speak and they'll speak to her a lot quicker than they'll speak to the police. And what a point about the people in that neighborhood. A lot of noise was surely made when this horrible incident went down, somebody heard something, but they aren't speaking up. If the brother sold drugs, this could easily be a robbery and they knew they had to go in their crazy if the brother was as large as reported. He wasn't going to let them get it easy. The police have obviously closed the books on this and this wouldn't be the first time that an innocent person was charged with a crime they didn't commit. Not to mention that fact that they were under a tremendous amount of pressure to solve this particular case because of its high profile. It's much easier for the police to pin it on the easiest and most obvious person. How handy it was for them to have a son-in-law/father that had a criminal record such as William's. His mother had better get on it and figure out who really committed this crime, it sounds to me like she's the only one on his side. When the whole world is against you, as ignorant and uneducated as she may sound, I would take her and be proud in a heartbeat.
Someone also needs to look at who the brother did business with. William was living ghetto great, so why would he do such a thing. Look at who the brother purchased drugs from. Did he owe them money possibly? And look at robbery as a possible reason. Something ain't right. Keep speaking up Mrs. Balfour, someone is going to hear you.

OH AND BY THE WAY, the reason there's a moratorium on the DEATH PENALTY in Illinois right now is because they've discovered through new DNA evidence that they've killed too many innocent men on deathrow, most of whom were Black, and they have current cases where evidence is pointing to some deathrow inmates innocence. Yal need to hear this lady talking to Nancy Grace. Yes she DOES sound ignorant, and she is not helping. I understand that's her son but let a lawyer speak. First the mother said he was with two girlfriends on the day of the murder. One in the morning and one at ***. Then she blamed Julia for planting drugs in his car, then he didn't want Julia but he was with her the day before, then her older son Raymond told her this and that. Wow! Wether or not he did it, he deserves a fair trial. I wish Jennifer Hudson well. RIP to her mother, brother and son.

Well Balfour's mother should be advised by her son's lawyers to STFU because she is putting out a lot of unneccessary information out there and contradicting herself. She says he LOVED Julia his WIFE, but yet had 2 or 3 other girlfriends on the side, one who is currently pregnant.
She also states "How could my son have done this alone"
Balfour has also lied his *** off to the cops. The cell phone pings have him in the vecinity of the Hudson house around the time of the murders, while he told cops he was waaaaay on the other side of town.
He also tells the cops he took the train and used his metro card or whatever to take the train, but the card was never swiped his card and the surveillance cams at the train station shows he was never there.
They also catch his *** on video driving his ride to some remote spot when he claims he didnt.
There was gunshot redidue on the steering wheel of HIS car. The car who's title was under HIS name.
He is shown on camera to be wearing one set of clothes earlier in the AM and then changed into a different outfit later on.
He had threatened Julia (which she admits but said she never thought he woudl go through with it and never reported it) and threatened her family because he was angry that she received a Bday present from another man, thus giving police a motive.
He may not have acted alone, but it looks like he did have some involvement. And if he doesnt want to "snitch" on anyone else involved in MURDER, then i say let him hang and go take that blame alll by himself since he wants to play stupid.
One of his "girlfriends" also has come forward stating that he asked her to provide an alibi for him and lie to the cops and say he was with her.
I bet she has been making excuses for him his whole life. Lady, your little boy is a criminal..accept it. She was on Nancy Grace talking about the car jacking he did. She said the man should not have jumped on the hood of his car while he was stealing it! She needs to *** it up. The CPD have got evidence (we just don't know what they got) and now they are getting ready to nail his azz to the wall! I don't think he did it alone but he did it. There was a mention of crack but it jumped out and jumped back in before anybody could find out what was going on. I think that Julia is on that pipe but that's another talk show!!!

She's not trying to represent him in a court of law, but she is the only one that is trying to defend him in the court of public opinion which has already convicted this man. That's her family and she should the best she Knows how. How effective it is, or how damaging it is, remains to be seen. But when you grabbing for a lifeline when drowning in quicksand you don't have time to worry about looking pretty or which hand to reach with event hough panicing may cause you to drown sooner.

However, in my opinion, it is NOT that hard to believe that this is a crime of passion. Being from Chicago, I can say that Chi town brothers are CRAZY. They can dip all day long, but don't you try and move on with your life, they SNAP.
I don't wanna pass judgements, but with the facts of the case just now coming out, it makes total sense to me that he could be guilty.
He was there with Julia the morning of the murders and they argued about a gift she received from another man for her birthday, which was the day before the murders. They both left the house as she went to work. He repeatly threatened to kill her whole family. There are many eyewitnesses to this. He reportedly has done it many times.
Sadly, I know William's type. Anger can make you snap. It really can. Jason was killed in his bed, while still sleep. The mom was killed in the living room after the gunshot came through the front door. And Julian was taken from the home.
If this was a drug hit, all three would have been killed in the home, point blank. But this was CLEARLY about hurting Julia, which is why her son was taken from the home, and then later found. The killer wanted to torture her. This crime was to hurt JULIA. It makes sense to me.
None of us know the whole evidence of the case, so to say, Yes he did it would be a bit presumptuous, but he certainly had opportunity and motive. He also more than likely had help.
I would leave this case up to GOD and pray that he would allow the justice system to come thru for once. And I pray that whoever is involved would be brought to justice.

Nearly 13 years after that 1996 evaluation, Balfour last week was charged with the slayings of the mother, brother and nephew of Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson, the sister of his estranged wife.
State *** recently reviewed by the Tribune, including confidential child welfare records, show Balfour never found the stability that might have helped him.
Balfour spent most of his teens in correctional facilities and on the streets, repeatedly running away from *** and relatives' homes. His mother was an inconsistent presence at best, and there would be little contact with his incarcerated father.
His mother, Michele Davis Balfour, declined to be interviewed for this story on advice from her son's attorney. She has previously declared her son's innocence and stated he was being unfairly singled out because of his criminal record.
When Balfour was born in 1981, his family already had endured years of violence, incarceration and drug use.
Balfour's maternal grandmother went to prison in 1969 for manslaughter, his mother told a state worker. "She reportedly killed her boyfriend because he abused her and put her eye out," a report noted. His aunt and uncle used drugs, his mother said, and the aunt lost children to the child welfare system.
Seeking a change, Michele Davis married Raymond Balfour Sr. in 1978, but they separated five years later. Michele told workers that he had killed a man and become abusive. In 1987 Balfour was convicted of murder and sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Eventually Michele Balfour began to abuse her older son, Raymond, records show. Once she tied him up, put a sock into his mouth to keep him from "hollering" and beat him. Other times, she would strike him with a belt or lock him in a closet, sometimes in an attempt to control him, she admitted to workers.
In 1993 the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services found credible evidence Balfour was physically abusing her son.
William suffered also.
"Mother was physically abusive to her sons," a 1995 report states. "She has stated that she can do nothing with them to control them. William and Raymond . . . do not like when she hits them."
As a teenager William idolized his older brother, who has since developed an extensive criminal record. The brothers began to commit juvenile crimes, records show.
The boys became wards of the state in 1995, though Michele Balfour kept her youngest child, a girl.
"Michele . . . does not want William to return to her. She feels that she cannot handle William," one record states.
By this time, William had joined a gang, the Gangster Disciples. In 1996 he was arrested for possession of heroin, an arrest followed by many more, including one in which he and his brother were joy-riding in a stolen car.

Respectfully, 90% of families in america have a long criminal past. Especially your Presidents. All of these record companines and movie studios we get our entertainment from were started by monies from prohibitoninsts. Some of the people we respect and revere in our culture have done far worse than the Balfour family. That family history, past criminal record, and breakdown is SUPPOSED to mean absolutely nothing in a court of law. Its about THIS case. and they're going to need more than the *** evidence they have to convict him if he has people like his Mom in his corner.

I knew Balfour had anger issues and now I see where they stem from. His moms has fault for her son having his problems as an adult and now she wants to stand there and defend him like she raised a good boy. Maybe she's defending him so hard because of her own guilt for not being a loving, nurturing parent?
The media has brought up all of this stuff about his past including his juvenile record which is DEAD WRONG. It will be *** near impossible for this man to get a fair trial because in my opinion, the jury pool has already been tainted. Where are you going to find 12 people who have not heard about this case, who have not formed there own opinions and who are going to be willing to make a decision based on the evidence presented to them in order to find him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt or release him? In my mind right, there are many reasonable doubts.
This is a high profile case and because Jennifer Hudson has become “America’s Sweetheart” people want to see justice served and they want it served quickly. But justice is not always swift and I don’t want to see an innocent man sent to prison for the rest of his life or possibly executed because the police rushed the case and didn’t follow other possible leads or motives. I also don’t want the truly guilty party or parties to get away with this. If Balfour is truly guilty then he give him that Sodium thiopental, Pancuronium and Potassium chloride *** but if he is not guilty and he is executed you can not take it back. And to the ignorant idiots who have been making comments like, “How could you defend this child murderer and you have children yourself? You are the devil!” and other asinine comments, if I were Balfour’s attorney that would be my job. As an officer of the court, your duties are to uphold the Constitution for the United States. I am not going to join in on the lynching while this man’s Civil Rights are being trampled on.

Then he was held on a possible parole violation. THey just arrested and formally charged him Monday. Legally it is not an arrest if you are not mirandized regardless if they took you in hadncuffs or not. NO ATTORNEY FOR A PAROLE VIOLATION...I'm sorry. its interesting to me how so many people's view of this case can vary so widely. people got information form whack sources, and some got whack information from credible sources and we form our opinions off of these. private attorney = private dollars. HOW CAN AN ATTORNEY SPEAK FOR A CLIENT HE ISN'T EVEN ALLOWED TO BRIEF...LOL? WHEN YOU ARE IN A PAROLE VIOLATION HOLDING PROCESS YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED A visit from an ATTORNEY OR family. (remember his mom when she was complaining they would not let her see her son or him see a lawyer...this is why)Even if he could afford one there is no way they could be an effective spokesperson if they can brief their client. If he had a private attorney the first time he would've been allowed to see his client would've been at the parole hearing.
Everyone is against William simply because (1) his track record and (2) the police has pretty much painted him guilty. If the public is going by either two to validate their opinions, then he is not guilty. This man could be innocent or had help, but if we all listened to the public, he would be found guilty or found guilty alone. Everyone is going with their emotions instead of evidence. That's not how a case should be handled when people life is on the line. Jennifer Hudson is a major star and her supporters want justice for her. We all want justice for her but not this way. Even tho Julia's husband was a troubled teen, he could still be very much innocent. As of right now, there hasn’t been any concrete evidence against him. His mother is his only voice right now. Everyone has pretty much labeled William the bad guy. But before William was labeled the bad guy, did anyone bother hearing his side of the story 1st?! That’s because he hasn’t been giving the option to share his side. It’s one of the reasons this case hasn't been solved because there's more to it then one side. His mother made great points. As a forensic, their job is to take in every piece of information and put it together!

@ LYoung I think people think because they live in a decent neighborhood, drive a fancy car and have a good job they are exempt. On the contrary it could be very easy for one to find themselves in trouble with the law.

As the case progresses and eventually goes to trial, I will be waiting to hear if William Balfour: had any scratches or bruises if gun *** residue was found on his hands or on the clothing he was wearing if DNA was extracted from the defensive wounds on the victim and if so does that DN match Balfour's DNA
