: Wasn't it Kanye who said that George Bush doesn't like Black people??? Well MediaTakeOut.com just caught wind that the Bush's are doing everything in their power to get away from Black folk. According to a report on Dallas' CBS 11, when they move out of the White House - they'll move into a neighborhood that didn't allow Black people to live there until the year 2000.
Here's how Dallas' CBS 11 is reporting it:
Until the year 2000, the neighborhood association's covenant said only white people could live there—unless they were servants.Wonder if they'll still let Condi over to visit ...Property records at the Dallas County Clerk's office reveal the neighborhood's original restrictions. The covenant of the James Meaders Estates subdivision says, "Said property shall be used and occupied by white persons only except these covenants shall not prevent occupancy by domestic servants of a different race or nationality in the employ of a tenant."
yea *** right...I live in Texas, Dallas area to be exact, and I heard he was moving to his property that his family owns. they have houses out there, its a little outside of Dallas. I cant imagine a place that didnt allow black people until 2000...be for real...People have misconceptions about Texas, the south in general, that *** is whack...it is NOT EVEN like that out here...You're alwas gonna have racist people, but a servant these days? yea, ok...Maybe it was just a rule from hellllllla years ago that was never needed to changed cause its PRIVATE property there are talking about..so why would they need to changed the rule? what if they didnt know about it? Well where else is his azz supposed to live? Harlem? Crenshaw? Compton? It probably wouldnt be a good idea for him to live in a predominantly black area being that he fugged up the economy precisely with blacks and other non-whites, in mind. This story is misleading because I've lived in the Preston Hollow area, where the Bushes are moving, since 1991 and I'm as Black as they come (and a Barack supporter too!). The issue is with the neighborhood association, which tried to create a rule that discriminated against all non-whites. That association and others associations have had to change all discriminatory rules to prevent lawsuits. Blacks and Browns live whereever they want in Dallas. The trick is the property values may be so high that you can't afford to live there. But if you got that paper, its all good! BB

He lives in Dallas, so weather he wants to be around white, black, purple, yellow people they are bound to be close by! he didnt move to the sticks. He lives in the city. How many well off black people have opted to live in that subdivision because a 2 million dollar house isnt cheap. and Most of us in the U.S cant afford it. People should not be disillusioned into thinking it is not racial. The symbolism of it all that you would move into a neighborhood that didn't allow blacks until 2000 is very telling. As they say, birds of a feather flock together.

i just had to get on here and say to the individual who said "what texas neighborhood isnt all white" Houston has the 3rd largest black community in the United States. And in 2006 was right behind ATL. for the most opprotunities for blacks. i dont like George Bush but i dont like ppl. misrepresting my state either.
Now i'm glad George is leaving the white house too but i must set the record straight....the area Bush is moving too probably was whites ony back in the day but not today. the area is called Highland Park and it's one of the richest cities in the country (probabaly why no one of color lived there). Cheney has a mansion there as well as a lot of the dallas mavericks, cowboys and other celebs that live here in Dallas.
Highland Park is also where my characters in Blind Temptations reside and i wouldn't dare place my black characters in a neighborhhod that's for whites only. get it right MTO

A LOT of neighborhoods all over the country had/have similiar covenants that were written DECADES ago. Nobody pays any attention to these covenants because they are illegal and uninforcable. And since homeowners don't read them, they are largely ignored or forgotten. It's just a matter of having a real estate lawyer re-write the covenant. Black people can live where ever we choose too, as long as we have the $$$.
The area is called Preston Hollow which IS A VERY prestigious wealthiest neighborhood in Big D. Bush lived here back in the late 80's till early 90's before he was president and he just had a new house built which is of course very secluded. There are a lot of areas that still have home deeds or covenants (just like some laws) that were never changed after slavery. This is just one of those areas. And there are black people who live in Preston Hollow! Oh and his neighbors will be...Ross Perot, and current Rangers owner Tom Hicks.
Now really....where else would an ex president move too????
