Here's how the NY Daily News is reporting that it's going down:
The "Material Mom" has reportedly signed paperwork to adopt a 4-year-old girl from Malawi - the home country of her adopted son David ... Madonna,50, will reportedly fly to Malawi with new companion Alex Rodriguez to pick up the girl, Mercy James, whose grandparents are unable to care for her.The chick just signed the divorce papers and now she's taking a kid with her latest jump off??? Now we're all for giving a needy child a new home - but we ain't too sure about this here...."It breaks our hearts to know she will leave us, but adoption is best for her," the girl's grandfather said.
I don't know, but I still bothers me a tad bit how all these white celebs are adopting these African kids as if they were the latest fashion craze or something. I mean, what could these people really teach these kids about their culture as they get older?
Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I just have that feeling.
However, I know all kids deserve a good home, So if Madonna and Alex can provide that for this child, then more power to them.

Exactly ! Some people are very quietly making a difference and not using their adopted children as photo ops. Also many Black celebs and athletes are doing wonderful things for children in our community but don't get the media attention their white counterparts get.For example Magic Johnson has started businesses that empower communities and Oprah started a school for girls that can eventually educate and empower thousands for years to come. Adopting one child is great...FOR THAT ONE CHILD but investing in our community like what many of black celebs and a few others have done QUIETLY, I belief will be far better for the black community in the long run.

Wealthy blacks don't adopt children? How do you know? There are PLENTY of blacks from all tax brackets adopting children b/c they want to or b/c they have infertility problems.
There is a difference b/w wealthy people and celebs. This is also why I don't know what to think of these celebs. Celebs are flaunting them like accessories.

As you read her grandparents don't want to give her away and want to keep their granddaughter with them but don't have enough to provide for her. Why does Madonna have to break up families like this. I don't have a problem with people adopting children but when they have a family who wants to keep them but need a little assistance then why can't Madonna help her family stay together. It would give me a much better feeling to know that I helped a family keep a child and not lose a child. There are plenty of children who have not one relative to take care of them or family at all to adopt. Instead of separation why can't she just help the girls family. Madonna has the money to do this.
