: What a year 2008 was … There were many highs and many lows. Here were our biggest stories of 2008:
5. Jay Z and Beyonce’s wedding – the entire thing was such a fiasco. Remember when Bey had to be snuck into the ceremony in the back of a moving truck … LAWD those were some good times…Here are out top 5 LOSERS of the year:4. Nick and Mariah’s whirlwind romance, engagement and marriage – We were shocked by it all … but we reported it FIRST!!!
3. Celebrities getting their homes foreclosed – The recession is real and the free-spending celebs are feeling it. In 2008 Dame Dash, Fantasia and T-Boz from the group TLC all got their homes foreclosed.
2. Jennifer Hudson’s family being brutally murdered by brother-in-law William Balfour.
1. Barack Obama winning the U.S. Presidency – Of course.
5. Kimbo Slice – Dude was gearing up to be one of the highest paid fighters in mixed martial arts. And then he got knocked out by a jab from some no name dude who wears ladies underwear … SIGHAnd the biggest winners of 2008…4. Tavis Smiley – Dude started talking out the side of his neck about the man who was trying to become the first African American president in American history. His credibility is over … and it’s about a wrap for his career.
3. Janet Jackson – Sorry Janet fans but even y’all gotta admit she had a bad year. Her album Discipline flopped , she got dropped by her label and she had to cancel her tour – reportedly because of poor ticket sales. On the bright side, she’d preggo – so she’ll be getting tons of press exposure in 2009. Maybe she can turn things around.
2. Rapper DMX – In 2008 DMX was arrested 5 times, his wife left him and he was admitted to rehab for crack addiction. Things can’t get much worse for dude.
1. Dame Dash – Two years ago, Dame Dash was on top of the world. Today he’s broke and can’t even afford to make his car note payment … that’s the recession for you.
5. Jay Z and Beyonce – They finally got hitched, Beyonce launched a successful new album, and Jay Z is finally being recognized as one of the world’s greatest artists. These two are on top of the world right now.Of course 2009 looks to be a very interesting year. We expect to see a lot more celebrities going broke. We also should get a glimpse of Mariah and Nick’s new baby - and Janet and Jermaine’s. We’ll get to find out which female artist will be the successor to Beyonce and Rihanna. We get to watch Wendy Williams’ new syndicated talk show. And we get to find out how this whole Jay Z-Neyo-Jim Jones beef stuff plays out.4. The cast from The Real Housewives Of Atlanta. These chicks were just a bunch of nobodies at the beginning of the year. Now NeNe, Kim, Sheree, Lisa and Eric Snow’s wife are all household names. Of course, we have to take a little credit for their fame … or infamy …
3. Nick Cannon – Dude started off the year as a Z-lister and ended it vacationing in St. Baarts as Mr. Mariah Carey. Now that’s a come up.
2. Rihanna – We’re not sure exactly how she did it, but Rihanna managed to become the hottest female act in the world. Not only did she pass Beyonce in terms of overall album sales, but in 2008 ole no-singin’ Rih Rih managed to top Beyonce as the most-clicked-on celeb on MediaTakeOut.com
But of course, the biggest winner of 2008 had to be our new Prez Barack Obama. A lot of folk tried to hate on him early on … but he weathered the storm and pulled off what many thought was impossible.
And best of all we get to see which celebs can step up their fashion game in the ’09 … and which ones turn into a hot steaming mess.
We can’t wait….
