I had to comment on this one. KEKE (Not KiKi) is such a fabulous young woman and will do nothing but succeed in the industry.
About a year ago, I was in LAX returning home and KeKe was such a sweet heart - I think she was only 15 or so then. Anyway, my baby girl looooooves her so much and do you guys know KeKe called my baby????????? It made my daughter's year! lol
My 9 yr old little cousin LOVES Hannah Montana, so I asked her if she ever heard of Keke Palmer?
She was like...'yeah, I like her, but I LOVE Hannah Montana. This girl has all of HM's memorabilia, cloths, books, hats, a bike...SMH
She plays with black barbies and whatnot, but I made sure I went to Keke's website and hipped her to her. I also found her some wallpaper to put on my laptop for when she comes over.
It's cool to like white girls, but kids need to see themselves through their own who are actually doing something positive and I blame her mother for letting the Disney Channel raise her. Not to mention, her playing that *** song 'If I Were A Boy by Beyonce O.U.T.!! I can't STAND that *** song. She sings it to the high heavens and had the nerve to ask me why does Beyonce want to be a boy?? When I caught myself explaining to her, it didn't sound right. :-/
But, when I was her age, I was singing Anita Baker songs and had no idea what they meant. So, I can understand that. Somewhat.
Funny thing is...my little cousin came over one *** and had me googling all these ghetto dance videos, one in particular, called the stanky leg. I had NEVER heard of such a thing. SMH. So, now we can get a picture of the environment she's in.
She's 9 and has a great personality, but I don't like it when she talks ghetto and brings her learnt behavior to my house. But, I make sure I put her in check and I really don't care if she goes back and tells her mom. Bottom line is she respects me b/c I take time out with her. We play video games, watch scary movies. I literally turn into a kid. I miss her when she leaves :-(
She also saw the movie The Ruby Bridges Story for the first time and was glued to the TV screen and wanted to watch it AGAIN when she came over. I get chills when she's in that mode. I also think every young Black girl should have a copy of Cinderella w/ Brandy and Whitney Houston and The Wiz w/ Michael Jackson. I'm not discriminating, but children are vulnerable at a young age. They don't know what they want, what they're doing or what they like. So, you have to guide them. Not follow the TREND! It'll pay off later.
I think that she is a very great young *** coming into the game a very young age. But of course Hollywood has to make her act like she's a white girl by acting and sounding white...she d*** didnt sound or act that way in Akeelah & The Bee or Madea's Family Reniuon! They have her on her new t.v show kissing some young white kid...why the hell can't she be kissing a black guy?!? Hollywood makes me really sick sometimes but I guess if she wants to keep gettin that paper,she has to do what is on the script! I aint mad at her cause she is doin the d*** thang. Keep it up KiKi...represent for the people. Later folks
