: MediaTakeOut.com just caught wind that yesterday Island Def Jam fired Jermaine Dupri. Here's how the NY Post is reporting it:
JERMAINE Dupri has left the Universal Music building. Dupri was president of Island Records until he was unceremoniously booted on Wednesday.Dang ...A source said, "After [his girlfriend] Janet Jackson's album and tour bombed, he basically didn't come back to work. He still collected a paycheck, but didn't bother to do anything that he was supposed to do, like find artists, release records or actually show up.
Executives tried to talk to him, but he just lost heart."
Dupri was widely blamed for Jackson's album flop as he insisted on letting her get her way on song selection and production of the release, "Discipline."
MTO step your game up. dupri will continue to produce and write songs, and he's also been doing photography. i doubt he will need to sell drugs. and janet, as "reported" above, wanted to select the songs she wanted and dupri let her, so he's partly to blame but she's more to blame thinking because she's janet she can just sing whatever kind of song and we will buy it - no ma'am (FOH)
Somebody will pick him up. He still has brother to brutha, right? He will lose his mind instead of his heart if Janet ever leaves him. I bet he pinches himself every morning because he can't believe he's with Janet. Janet just has to look outside her comfort zone to come up with some hits. We know she has no singing abilities so she has to focus on up beat songs.
Jermaine will be fine, I think he still has some of them old stacks left and good investments. If all else fails, they can sell the pictures of the new baby to People magazine...although I wonder if they'll get as much as the "other" celebs...like 6million for the Brangelina baby!! Oh...that is if Janet is really preggers, of course.

Janet(and alot of R&b/pop Artists) been Stealing from Hip Hop for more than fifteen years ...thats good for her!
JD has proved his Qualities as a producer. But thats all he is a Producer....not the Writer/ assistant/ Promotional Manager/ street team/ Sound engineer/ PR team etc.
Janet wants everything handed to her on a platinum platter!....Please J we love cause you earned it. Dont try to juss breeze by on us cause of your name!

JD always was a loser to me. He did not mess up Janets career and he ain't sellin' dope. He didn't get Fired MTO if he stopped coming that means he quit. JJ is not washed up or crazy. She's older and is gonna have to actually sing like she used to and write her own ***. She's gonna have to work twice as hard as she used to but honestly I don't think she cares. I am a music lover and a Hip Hop fanatic and I hate when people talk *** about hip hop and don't know the first! Hip hop is amazing and growing but DO NOT give credit where credit is not due. *** THAT!!! Discipline is a good fckin cd. They only released one single.. how is that her fault? They have to pay for that and the videos and stuff. They PLAYED HER OUT, I feel bad. That cd is hot and some of those songs could've went to Number 1 on the billboards. There are songs of all types on that cd i love it.

Jermaine was in love and allowed his emotions to make unwise decisions with regards to Janet's career. There was a formula for her that was established way back in Milwaukee when she was younger - but the girl is 40 now and BG music just isn't selling today.
Someone with some wisdom and forethought - along with some producing and writing skills should have thought long and hard about how to bring Janet back into the limelight. In this business, you cannot stay away for long. The time between albums gets *** and ***. There are more and more records coming out daily and the competition is more fierce than ever. New artists are hitting the scene harder than ever before- independant labels, websites, myspace and other forms of distribution and getting the message out are taking over the old-fashioned record companies. The only thing they have is the abiltiy to distribute- and that's been called into question too. The "B"side players are moving up the ladder at a fast pace. Personally, I'm glad about that.
As for Dupree - he's long been over. In my opinion, he has lost his vision for the industry, his love for the music and his ability to call into play the new artists on the horizon. Like I said - he's in love and his insight was damaged and allowed him to make some very unwise choices.
In my world - when you don't report to work - you get fired. He got what he got. It is what it is.
