TMZ has since issued the following retraction:

@ Foxy90210 i dont know how the bail system works in LA but in TX you only have to post half to get out...which is nothing to chris. BUT i think its a lot of stories floating around. IF a weapon was involved they should have kept his *** in jail. the only thing im believing is YES something happend serious enough for the police to be involved and YES he went to jail..they got it on tape. BUT how the argument started and who hit who..ect nobody knows except chris and rihanna and maybe the police..but hell they might not know EVERYTHING...especially IF rihanna is trying to save chris
Well we all know how young people and how their attitudes and tempers can escalate. I bet they were both fighting each other. I don’t think Chris Brown just punched her. I’m willing to bet she hit him first, that is why he pulled the car over and got out. Yes he couldve just walked away, but some women will hit a man and think they won’t hit back. T M Z has confirmed Rihanna is the named alleged victim in the Chris Brown case and the allegation is that she was assaulted with a deadly weapon.
Law enforcement sources tell us the crime report calls the incident assault with a deadly weapon -- we do not yet know the nature of the weapon.
The crime report gives the victim's name as Robyn Fenty -- that's Rihanna's real name.
Enough with the Herpes rumor! lol Geez she had a cold sore and unless we were all present when her blood tests came back you dont know if its Herpes I or II and I is NOT necessarily a sexually transmitted disease, anyone can get it on contact with any inatimate object the next person touches that the infected person has come in contact with. And plus how do we know Chris wasnt the one who passed it on to her. I've seen dude with some crusty chapped lips before!
Anyway, this dude is on punk status. i read a report on T M Z i believe that Rihanna actually got out of the car to walk her azz home while they were arguing and Chris got out and followed her on some "dont u walk away from me when I'm talking to you bich" thing.

@ girlygirl...I agree, this is one of those experiences that alot of people go through. So hopefully they both know that they are not right for each other and move on. It takes something like this to happen for people to realize that their relationship is not going to work!!!! Maybe that will be the case for both of them.

Instead, the normally affectionate twosome were embroiled in a domestic violence drama that left Brown, 19, booked on felony criminal threats charges and posting $50,000 bail after turning himself in to the LAPD on Sunday at 6:34 p.m. PST.
Sources say that Rihanna (real name: Robin Fenty), 20, was the victim in the alleged assault which occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday. Responding to a 911 call about a disturbance, the LAPD took statements from a female with visible injuries, who named Brown as her attacker.
Just hours after the incident, witnesses spotted Brown and Rihanna leaving the London Hotel together around 7:30 a.m. on Sunday.
Later that evening, during the Grammy telecast for which both Brown and Rihanna were no-shows, bodyguards for the couple were seen moving their luggage out of the London.
The ramifications of BrownÕs arrest? Already charged with making criminal threats Ð defined in part as a situation where the victim Òis in fear for [his/her] lifeÓ Ð the R&B singer may face additional charges at the discretion of L.A.Õs district attorneyÕs office.
To help him face the legal storm, Brown has hired attorney Mark Geragos, best known for defending convicted murderer Scott Peterson, Winona Ryder after a 2001 *** arrest and Michael Jackson during his child molestation trial.

The company would not go as far as saying they are dropping him completely, saying Brown should be "afforded the same due process as any citizen."
