Now a days weave is a fashion statement. Just Like your clothing it allows women to change up and experiment with varying colors , lengths and textures for a certain "look".
Also, Adding length allows you the diversity and., texture, and fullness that your natural hair may lack , due to the humidity , such as hot weather.
Weave tends to last longer, and takes the pressure off or having to style your own natural hair everyday.

I dont think braids are a bad thing.. Corn rows are good in my book.. Not braids that hang from your head.. I have cornrows, and I personally look way better with hair then without and I am studying to be a lawyer.. my hair has done nothing to my brain.. So when people say Allen is getting his grown man.. He is makin money regardless.. THERE are tons of people who have nice hair that is cornrowed and they are proper gentlemen.. If AI and his family felt like it was time for the braids to go, then I think it was a good idea. For some of yall that may not know this, he started his braids about 12 years ago All-star weekend, and it was a big deal back in 97. I credit AI for opening up a can of worms that will be seen as the downfall for many a blackman and lovers of "da culture". I don't remember seeing too many dudes walking around with braids before AI "made it cool"(Leroy from Fame). Then he started getting tatted and everyone lost their minds.
AI's influence on the hip-hop culture was probably bigger than any rapper. I think that may be one of the reasons the NBA refused to allow him to drop his album. He changed the game with the braids and tatoos. He invented the jewelry game. Then he took the car game to another level. In the hip-hop culture, his name is synonymous with "party" "ballin" and "VIP section". Oh and let's not forget about having an entourage of thugs "down for whatever". Look at your favorite rappers and b-ball players over the past 12 years, and think about what part of AI's steeze they bit. The one point I forgot to make in my previous post, was that AI and the rest of the entertainers that went the braids and tats route all have plenty of money and probably don't have to make any character impressions to make more money. The rest of us are judged by how we look, and braids and tatoos scream "ghetto", "hood", "rebel", "*** term thinker", and the list could go on. I didn't say it was right, but it is what it is.
