Science and religion do not have to be mutually exclusive. The books I recommended were not religious per say, but give possible hypothesis on how the two subjects are not totally disjoint. My dissertation was on the Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4GI and p97. Don't do yours on this...save yourself a lot of headaches.

For the record, Im a Medical professional and have worked with ***-patients and what pleanty of them tell me? Well, all of them began with some disfunction or abuse as a child.How they have been fondled or molested mainly by family members or an untrustworthy adults. I will give you this, the European DID *** up the interpretation of the bible, and many still have it wrong. They used it also as a tool of control.
But I urge you, before you have another conversation about the bible, read it. Completely. It may take a while, but at least you'll know what you're talking about when you do. I recommend you start at the beginning of the new Testament (Matthew, Mark, and Luke are pretty much the same story from different perspectives)

Studying the bible doesn't actually constitute going to church or listening to your grandfather talk about it. I like history, so I studied the history of the eras in the bible and modern day religion. What I found were too many things to discuss on this platform. I should probably write a book. But just read it. You don't have to agree with it. But read it so you'll know what it actually means.

By the way, I studied the common version, King James. But I understand the language, or better said, what the meaning of certain words are at particular points.
