Yes Haiti is a poor country...but other than that unfortunate fact that makes them no different than the rest of us. Because of my heritage I have had the opportunity to travel all over the world, and there is one thing that I noticed...rich, poor or in between, we all want the same things out of life. First and foremost we all want to love and be loved in return, we all want someone to believe in us and to be validated as human beings. Not to be stereotyped as unintelligent (the way most whites stereotype people of color) or as ugly (the way most of you stereotype Haitians).
When you group or stereotype all Haitians as being ugly you are really showing how ugly YOU really are from the inside out. Sir, many of the countries of the Caribbean boasts records that will put the America to shame..and am not lying sir... for you see...we have come out of the stage of third world... we are emerging as 2nd world and 1st world economies...the UN call us Small Island Developing States (SIDS)...ie, the Eastern English speaking Caribbean...and larger economies like Jamaica and Guyana (which is located in South America..beside Columbia and Venezuela) as Emerging States.. the Caribbean has come a very far way since the abolishion of slavery in 1832...we have fought long and hard, for our own independence...and we are now free.. we fought because we wanted no more tyranny and pity from our colonial masters...we are corageous and smart. in less than 50 yrs the Caribbean has gained a literacy rate that far supercedes the US...we boast a 96% literacy and numeracy rate here.. we have a increased the life expectancy and feel no way, our people boast a longer life expectancy than yours..women in the Caribbean boast a life expectancy of 84 yrs whilst the men trail behind narrowly at 78yrs...and frankly America is sitting behind us...sir our infant mortality rate has lessened significantly in the past 35 yrs...we have have decreased that figure by some 58%...we along with Cuba shares a infant mortality rate that is some 3% better than yours. Our Birth Rate and Death Rates are also steady...we have balanced our population well and we continue to do so.. the major issues plaguing our Dearest Caribbean is the epidemic of HIV/Aids, and social depravity (just like any major city or state it the US)...yes we are burdened by the epidemic and this can be attributed to the tourism product we have here..but fear not, we are working assiduously to counter the mele...our educational campaigns about safe *** is resonating well...we have already been reaping the rewards. the social upheavals experienced by our towns and cities are a mere reflection of what is happening in the US...you see our geographical location has allowed us to emulate all the good and bad from the American society...its a pity! Yes, we basically idolize American filth and moral decadence...we have corrupted the minds of our youth with the American pop culture and that is the reason for many of our social ill health today. Sir, the next time you talk... I dare you to read before you speak.
A country's development is based on what is called the Human Development Index (HDI), i could tell you so much on this, instead i beg you try and read all about it on the internet. this will make you better qualified to speak to our level sir. oh..i almost missed this point...the Caribbean is the birth place of true beauty...given our potpourri of races...we have the great mix...we share a record with the exotic South America..i wonder if its the proximity? could it be that beauty can be dispersed like plant seeds..well whatever the case..we sure have plenty growing here. the last 10 Miss Worlds and Miss Universe i have watched...the top tens had atleast 4 Caribbean women...namely: Jamaica,Trinidad, the Domincan Republic and Belize...
Jamaica has won the Miss World Title 3 times...and we have been in the top 5 a whopping 5 times...the top ten a staggering 14 times and the other minor times we have made the top 15...so what does this say about the country? Infact, we are ranked at number 3 on the all times best performance list...if u think am making this up...go do the research... Jamaica has produced the TWO GGREATEST black models of all time..Naomi Campbell and Tyson Beckford...yes this country has it like that! We have produced the Greatests and the Worst...just like America! and before i wrap up..i wanna just say that the Caribbean has produced numerous NOBEL Laureates...in Economics (Arthur Lewis; UWI), English Literature (VS NAIPAUL, Dereck Walcott), Physics(Neville Ying...JAMAICA...UWI)...so tell me...name one Black American NObel Prize winner...just one!

Ok all the ignorance in here got my head spinning...first I'd like to say I love all my Black people. That being said how come Black Americans try so hard to seperate themselves from other Blacks of different nationalities sometimes? How come the Haitians defending themselves feel it is absolutely necessary to state that they are exotic or that not all Haitians are dark skinned? Do you all REALLY love yourselves? Is something wrong with being a Black Haitian who doesn't look like they got indian in em? Sounding like the fools that always talking that 'I got Indian and Irish in me' but never bothered to inquire about what part of AFRICA their ancestors came from..make me sick.
