: MediaTakeOut.com just caught wind of a juicy bit of news. In 2000 NFL plyer Fred Lane, a running back, was shot twice and murdered by his wife Deidra.
Word on the street was that Fred and Diedra Lane were having martial problems and during an argument Diedra shot him twice. Charlotte, N.C., assistant district attorney Gentry Caudill said the first shot "blew out Fred Lane's heart," and "As Fred Lane lay there dying Deidra Lane walked through his blood and put the shotgun up to his head and blew his skull off."
MediaTakeOut.com learned that Diedra managed to avoid first degree murder charges because of Fred Lane's previous spousal abuse. Prosecutors, concerned that Diedra wouldn't be convicted, accepted a manslaughter plea agreement. Diedra was sentenced to eight years in prison, plus credited with three years of time served from a previous bank robbery larceny conviction.
But today, Deidra gets out of prison. Here’s how the the AP is reporting it:
The 33-year-old Lane served about six years in prison for voluntary manslaughter in the 2000 death of her estranged husband, Fred Lane. It was numerous reports from Fred's friends that she was the agressor. Now she's going to get out find another pro athlete and take them out. This woman hasn't learn anything. This is a perfect example of how it is best not take sides until all of the story is heard. If he had not been killed and would have snapped first everyone would have been calling him a wife beater, and all other sorts of names. It's sad how a man has to die in order for people to feel sorry for him.
She's being released already? Wow. I saw her story on Oxygen's show "Snapped" about 2 yrs ago. This hefer was scandlous! She was spending her husband's money like water, abusive towards him and when he was leaving her, she killed him and tried to say it was self-defense. This hefer comes from a wealthy family but she is selfish and greedy. Fella, stay away from this one.
I meant fellas. Also, Diedra and her friend came up with a plan to rob the bank her friend worked at. Diedra came in with a wig and glasses and walked up to her friend, like she was robbing the bank, her friend gave her the money and Diedra left. Her friend played it off to look like a real robbery had took place. The police found out they both conspired to do this. I believe her friend pleaded guilty and I think when the defense found that out that's when she took the plea to manslaugher.

I saw this story on "Snapped" and was very outrage and disgusted by her sentence. Comes to show you how our justice system is a f@*king joke. She may think, that her a$$ has got away with murder, but karma is a ***@*cka. She will pay for what she did one way or another. I'm not a religious person, but that's real talk.

Ok now in seeing that i was a c.o at the prison she was released from today during the time i was there i had a chance to get to know diedra. In the state of north carolina if you take a life you did wrong. So you will be punished. But in her case there were some mitigaing factors. for one. She tried to get help when the abuse started. speaking to the carolina panthers owners and managers. They were no help. Going to charlotte mecklenburg police dept *** stuff with them. they were no help. arguing about the paternity of the baby. according to snapped. ( by the way regardless of the contact a televison show will imbellish stuff just to keep ratings high, just look at how many people referenced the show on this blog. i have never watched snapped but i heard about it from yall and others on here.. ) well back to the paternity .. from the story she told me i guess the paternity of the child would be in question. if your hubby tied you down to a bed and let his foot ball team members run a train on you while your screaming begging pleading to be let go and to stop and no one would listen. God for big Charlotte panter's favorite son is once a gain disgraced and show to have flaws in the public eye and bring a bad look on the queen's city fav football team. THis is what was told to me from her mouth. I can ask the hubby his side of the story. Idont know about the bank robbery and such i just know of what she said due to the questions that were asked of her by me. It looks to me they both had issues and needed some bad mental health assessments. But when diedra was crying out for help before it got to that point. where was the help. the one's that are sworn to protect and serve?

Investigators said Lane waited at the couple’s south Charlotte home for her husband to return. When he did, she *** him once in the chest then once in the head. Prosecutors say she wanted to cash in on his $5 million life insurance policy but her attorney said she was abused and feared for her life and for the safety of her newborn daughter.
Rosinski says his teammates testified it was the other way around.
"They came out in the press and later in the trial and said this was the guy who was abused," he said.
Although she was charged with first-degree murder, Lane ended up pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter. The maximum sentence was 10 years.
"The sentencing can be controversial because people might view that as injustice, but in fact if that's the range, that range has been set by the legislature," said Sandra Jordan, a professor at the Charlotte School of Law.
Lane will now be on supervised probation in South Carolina.
Deidra Lane also served time after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit bank robbery. She has to pay back the $41,000 that she took from the bank.
Ok so i have read the comments and I tried to keep my thoughts to myself. This story makes me second guess ever being quick to offer up an opinion on situations I know nothing of,it just so happens I know this person and I know this story well.. while I wouldn't think i would react the same as she would to the abuse, i must let the bloggers know that deidra is a very very beautiful girl, not violent prior to this, raised in a priviledged home with a prominant father. If you see her video of her release on today you will see for yourself how much not like the mugshot she looks (she had just given birth. Please don't judge, they already had a trial and jurors for that. Abuse is abuse and while I can offer no explaination for the bank robbery,I refuse to judge what made her snap with Fred Lane. Rape, verbal, and mental abuse will make you think a different way. She has a college degree, and 2 beautiful children. I only pray that she makes better decisions in the future. wow...i really don't know what to say....MURDER is wrong period. But in this society its either kill or be killed...especially when you are in a DV situation. I am praying for his family but I am ultimately praying for the children involved.
I read somehwhere else that her brother was doing bank robberies and he got 114 years...now that's the part that boggles me..robbery 114 years...murder 8 years..CRAZY
