That’s right guys – according to our pals over at Lainey Gossip, Tina Knowles was NOT allowed to Style Beyonce for the shoot. Here’s how they’re putting it:

LOL so no one peeped the visibly all black looking girl was put to the back and all the lights were front and center? Well at least the brown-black looking boy got some shine huh? I see a sea of mulatto. It's all good...represents diversity right? It's about time some major media outlet refused her, but I remember when they were doing the *** In The City movie Beyonce was orginally to play the role J Hud played but Beyonce only wanted to wear the House of Dereon mess. And the powers that be wasn't hearing it. When is Tina gone to realize that she is not a true designer. She has had no formal training and hasn't she notice that no celebs request her skills. If she was fire some of the A lister would give her a call. The only celeb that's a fool enough to wear that mess is Beyonce. I can't believe Beyonce didn't tell Vogue it's her mother designs or she goes. I guess Beyonce did have a little sense on this one.

The dark skinned girl being placed in the back was the first thing I noticed in that picture. You would think if Beyonce cared or had enough clout, she would have rearranged the positioning of the kids. THAT'S IF SHE CARED!
Most people believe that Beyonce and camp has enough power to have Tina styling Beyonce at any photo *** they choose. However, obviously Vogue was threatened by them, nor did they care ABOUT THE KNOWLES/MRS. JAY-Z CARTER NAME! lol
Vogue is just as big, if not bigger, and powerful and, I'm sure they gave Beyonce the impression of, "If you want to WALK and not do the photo *** because we are not going to use your mother, THEN BOUNCE."
Usually people(model/ actresses) don't have control over how they are dressed or presented for a ***. She was paid for this therefor the magazine directors,editors and stylist have control over her look(head to toe) for the magazine. Bey usually looks good in mags(which are probably never styled by tacky tina but rather the stylist for that particular mag)but her everyday life and promo pics for her dereon *** is another thing all together.
Nevertheless Bey still looks absolutely flawless.

@dreamdoll out of all the things I touched you only commented on the movie role. I'm quite sure that I'm correct about that role being for Beyonce. I can't remember the show I saw it on. Why didn't you touch the children in the pic. Because you can't justify it. It's a shame that Beyonce and Solange's father is dark yet they refuse to respect dark skinned people. Did you see the add for Dereon with the one little dark girl in the back. And please to give me that there is hardly any dark skinned people in the world.

Maybe b/c I grew up in a different culture so I look at things differently... yeah, racism does exist in The Bahamas, but black people have been in power since our independence in 1972, so the white Bahamians and others have very marginal influence in the media and the government and in how we view ourselves as Black Bahamians...

We all know *** well Vogue wasn't going to let Tacky Tina style the *** and have Beyonce looking like some tacky 1980's Solid Gold dancer.
I too find it kind of interesting that they only featured predominately mixed and light skinned kids in the photo. It seems like they only threw in the two dark skinned kids as "tokens", and they stuck them in the back and off to the side. However I doubt Beyonce notices or even cares about stuff like that, all she cares about is herself and her cover.
@Safari: that's a good point you made about the Dereon ads, I remember the one you're talking about, it featured a white girl and a mixed girl with blonde hair and blue eyes in the forefront, and the dark skinned girl was way in the back. Now that is something the Knowles definitely had control over versus maybe not having as much control over a magazine ***.

I remember that, when she lost that "*** in the city" role to J Hud becuase her camp kept insisting on using thier line of clothing for the fim. They casting directors pretty much said, "*** you, we'll pass and go in another direction". I think she learned her lesson from that loss and the camp kept her mouth *** for the vogue cover. Bey run, girlie, run from your mother's clothing line FAST!!!. LMAO. This is sooo hilarious.

You maybe reaching on this one. Those kids are from a dance troope in the Bronx. Anyone who knows NYC knows the bx has more Ricans per square mile than roaches. I grew up in ny and we would called it Los Bronx. Lol
And isn't the girl right next to her brown? ============================================== Nope. They still could've gotten a more diverse group. This is just an AD remember. The AD is selling a point. So while it's necessary to showcase dancing. It's not necessary to show all lights...unless they wanted to. And believe me they wanted to.
Two questions then---let's say you're correct, and it's a majority PR thing---why is the black girl still in the back? And no, to the other poster who threw out maybe she wanted to be there? Umm a young girl asking to to go to the back? <blank stare> Majority is one thing. But to have only 2 black lookings kids in the ad?
And another question---so ads are true to life except when it comes to depicting Michelle Obama and her kids? a LIGHT SKINNED Alicia Keys WITH LIGHT SKINNED kids as Sasha and Malia. See what I mean? They change the rules when it's beneficial to the cause and the cause in America will ALWAYS be "White is right and if you can't get white, get light".

The thing is, the others can be black too, but that is the game they play with us. Never show dark black, give enough so that you can still say it's an "ethnic" "diverse" group all the while folks is like, "whatdahellistherace?"

More diversity? If these are the children enrolled in this particular dance program what do you want them to do rent some darker kids? To be honest all those kids look Latino (or mixed with), including the brown ones.
I agree with your overall point, especially the Allure photoshoot. It wasn't just Alicia/Michelle, Paula Patton was in that same issue portraying Billy Holiday, and Chanel Iman/Althea Gibson. I found that all to be incredibly disturbing.
However, on this particular photo... nah.

How many photos were in the mag?
I read the article about this too and yes this was a kids dance group from Washington Heights NY that beyonce surprised with the ***. For people that don't know, Washington Heights is a predominatly Latino community so that is why the children look "light" or "mixed" as everyone on here is talking about. Even the darker children are most likely Dominican.
@Conscious1 --- I noticed the SAME thing when I saw that. I noticed that the one dark skinned girl was in the back and was a "chubby" dark girl. The rest were basically light skinned, mulatto (hispanic) looking even. Very very interesting..and someone like Beyonce doens't have the SENSE she was "supposedly" given to have brought this up.
