: Who would have imagined that Beyonce’s Lifetime-esque Movie Obsessed would do 3 times as well as Oscar winner Jamie Foxx’ The Soloist. Well that’s EXACTLY what happened. As MediaTakeOut.com told you on Saturday, Beyonce’s film pulled in $28 million – and Jamie’s pulled in a little more than $9M.
Hollywood insiders are now starting to wonder whether Jamie Foxx’ statements to Miley Cyrus (i.e., when he told her to "make a sex tape... do some heroin... and become a lesbian and catch chlamydia") could have caused his latest movie to FLOP!!
Well, now MediaTakeOut.com has learned that Jamie is looking to bury the hatchet for good. He’s already issued a number of public apologies for his statements. And now he’s getting his 14 year old daughter to apologize to Miley on his behalf. Here’s what Jamie said in a recent interview:
"My daughter has written a letter to [Miley]. We're going to get that to her and like I said, I don't want to defend [my statements]... you can't defend it."Jamie ... you really need to keep that girl out of YOUR MESS!!!
It had nothing to do with those Miley comments. The Soloist is a serious movie for an adult audience. Not the kind that makes real box office $. It should have come out last fall with all of the other Oscar movies. Just bad timing.
And Jamie apologized a week ago already on the *** Show so it aint about the box office.
Well the 'At The Movies' gave The Soloist a 'skip It' review. And we all know nowadays teeny boopers are the primary movie goers, so I don't think the Cyrus situation had anything to do with this movie having bad numbers.
As far as 'Obsessed' goes, Bey didn't even release this movie to be reviewed by critics, because she know they would dog the schitt out of it.
And even if it did make 28 mill this past weekend, so what? Compared to the opening weekends of 'Monsters vs Aliens' and 'Fast and Furious': Those movies left this one in the dust!

Didn't see Obsessed (waiting until it comes on Netflix) but The Soloist was terrific (Jamie's performance was Oscar-worthy). Some films are designed for boxofffice gold. This film is designed for oscar gold. As long it's critically acclaimed then a film is never a flop. I chose to see FAST AND THE furious and my sis saw obsessed. She came into my theater when she finished with her film and when fast and the furious was over then we could not stop talking about it. She never once mentioned "obsessed" and she's a bey fan and the type to talk about something on end when she really likes something. Wow, "Obsessed" is really forgettable as I knew it would be. Fatal Attraction is the film to beat.
That was a movie where people have to pay attention to the story line and sit there and be patient, because it was (DEEP) ***.i.g.g.a.s can't do that.... His movie DID NOT flop! hell it came in 4th and i think the reason it didnt get higher is because they really didnt advertise this as much. Hell, i was at the movie a wk earlier than it was scheduled to be release thinking it was out. "Fighting" and "Soloist" did about the same at roughly 11 million. They didn't do heavvy marketing for that film but it looks good I'm going to see that and "Observe and Report" as well as the soloist when I get time. Most young people got suckered into seeing "Obsessed" and when it was over they wished they hadn't. even though I like Idris from his previous work "unborn", "Daddy's little girls" and many other films as well as ALi Larter (Heroes, Final Destinatiom and many others) I stayed way from this film obsessed because the storyline was recycled and the actors are not as great as the actors for Fatal Attraction. Many people complained about the storyline lol. That ending for fast and furious was FIERCE. I LOVED IT!! I might watch it again. Vin Diesel and 2 others produced it and made bank. That film brought in 73 million in it's first week. That's legendary for this type of film. Vin is sitting pretty right now. Cha Ching.
I went to the movies this weekend and Obsessed was playing on 4 screens, while The Soloist was only playing on 1. I do not think it has anything to do with the comments that Jamie made, it is just that this movie is not backed by a major studio, so it is getting less exposure. 9m is good when you consider that only it has 1/4 of the viewings of Obsessed.
