: MediaTakeOut.com just received some BAD NEWS, word is that LL just lost his clothing line. Our pals over at the website Wooha are reporting that Sears has decided that it was time to let LL Cool J go …
Here’s what they’re reporting:
In case you haven’t noticed, LL has basically been silent about his Sears clothing line for the past year…and for good reason. A source at the apparel buying department at Sears has exclusively revealed to us that the LL Cool J clothing line is indeed shutting down due to a lack of sales and forced cutbacks from the Recession.Well … one man’s loss is another’s gain!!! Check out the Sears website for the sale items…We got the drop way back in February but WORD ON THE STREET is now it looks like it’s official. The benefit to the consumer though is that Sears is drastically cutting prices of all LL Cool J branded apparel from 50%-75% off to clear all existing in-store inventory.
The problem isn't really LL's clothing. It's Sears lack of merchandizing correctly. His line can't really stand in there buy itself. It needs to be around other streetwear clothing lines in Sears, inwhich Sears does not have alot of. The reason why their competition (JC Penny has been successful with low cost urban lines is because they merchandised the urban streetwear section much better giving customers diversity in different companies ex. Ecko, Southpole,BK express, and others. Sears has dropped the ball for years trying to attract the minority customer to purchase clothing. My opinion is the buyer doesn't have a clue on what to put in the stores. They need to replace "HER" with someone who knows what they are talking about and understand what is hot in the industry which would also attract minority customers to come in and and buy. Plain and simple. Sears is in Every urban market but gives very little effort in supplying the right apparel suitable for the markets that they are in.
I feel bad for LL Cool J; It sounded like a bad idea for his clothing line to be featured at Sears. The majority of young people and black people rarely shop at Sears. But they should had tried promotion at Wal-Mart, Marshalls and Macy's;even JC Penney would had been better as well.the media should had ran t.v commercials advertising LL's clothes; they could have obtained plenty exposure and sold very well.I still wish LL Cool J luck.
AND I SHOULD OF SAID THIS IN MY LAST POST WHEN YOU MAKE CLOTHES YOU HAVE TO KNOW WHATS GOOD AND WHATS NOT CELEB'S THINK THEY CAN JUST BE A CLOTHING DESIGNER CAUSE THEY A CELEB IT DONT WORK OUT LIKE THAT SERIOUSLY. DIDDY AND JIGGA KNOWS THE MARKET, THEY KNOWTHE HOOD, AND THEY KNEW IF THEY MADE A PRODUCT THAT THE HOOD WOULD SUPPORT EVERYONE ELSE WOULD FOLLOW AND LOOK AT THEM BOTH NOW AND I HATE DIDDY WITH A PASSION BUT HIS GEAR IS OFF THE CHAIN CAUSE HE KNOWS THE MARKET AND HE KNOWS WHAT WE THE HOOD WANT SO HE WENT FROM THERE.......
You also have to understand that what others may think as garbage, from the manufacturers standpoint, it is very difficult to construct a quality low cost item and make much profit from it. Something has to give. So what most manufacturers do is produce a lesser grade item where they can make a product and make a profit at the sametime. If you see a tee *** priced at 7.99 that means the wholesale cost was close to 4 dollars inwhich you can't do a whole lot of embellishing because you are limited.
You have to understand from both sides why things may seem cheap or poor quality.
oh please! it dont matter if they bring it down that low, ppl still aint gonna dem ugly clothes! ppl arent buyin the clothes bcuz its a recession, they are not buyin it cuz its ugly! *** apple bottoms is doin jus fine and they clothes aint cheap, u know why cuz they clothes look good! ll cool j's clothing line was doomed from the get-go :)
it's a *** shame that people will support g-unit and some of these other rappers' ***,but a positive brother like l.l. can't get no love. *SMDH* black people always wanna support *** and/or people who are already filthy rich and don't need no more money.a lot of black people are sooo *** irresponsible with their money.(alot but i DID NOT SAY ALL.)as far as people talking about sears...ain't a *** thing wrong with sears. i go there for housewares ALL THE TIME,and even got my comforter set for my bed from there and it is very nice. guess y'all must be used to wal-mart.
