: MediaTakeOut.com just got some interesting news. Apparently, the United Kingdom has named its SMARTEST PERSON – and it’s a 2 year old girl.
2 year old Elise Tan, who is half Malaysian and half Nigerian, began speaking at five months old and walking at eight-and-a-half months. Even though she’s only 2, she can now name 35 capital cities, identify the three types of triangle, spell her name aloud, read the words “Mommy” and “Daddy” and recite the alphabet.
MediaTakeOut.com learned that when officials at the genius group Mensa learned of Elise’s talents, they tested her IQ – and were shocked to see it register at 156. To put Elise’s IQ into perspective, the average person’s IQ is 100 and Albert Einstein’s was 160.

At just two years and four months, Elise can spell her name aloud, read words Mummy and Daddy, recognise drawn letters, name all three types of triangle, name 35 capital cities, draw a circle, recite the phonetic alphabet, recite the normal alphabet, count to 10 in Spanish, count to 20, and do very basic maths eg 1+2=3.
She can also name all her colours, including distinguishing between pink and purple, brown and black, name several shapes, including hexagon, star, circle, square and rectangle, and also name many animals and their noises. (ANI)

I think not allowing her to identify her own race is a prbloem. look at tiger woods. he clearly looks black but desn't acknowledge that he is. People of color were once counted as 2/3 of a person. Which meant that the law of the land, rights, priveledges did not extend to them.
Now it is 2009, and some of you are pulling the essence of this law forward. She is a British citizen. She should be referred to such. With her various ancestries footnoted.
The world will see her as British and judging by her hair, mostly non-black. The good news here, isn't that people will credit her achievement to the black race, perhaps, more Asians and perhaps Asian women, will open their hearts to people of substantial African bloodlines.
This is a great story! Pretty little girl and it looks like her parents are raising her right. Hopefully she grows up and and does amazing things with her intellect!

With the exception of her nose, she looks like a carbon copy of her mom. And in fact, she would more readily blend in with your basic South East Asian than she does any give African.
The President of the United States, may be considered black, but he looks sorta black and in my view has the soul of a black man. And, most important, he has courted this identity. This child doesn't even look black. And, the British are very territorial about their heritage.

My opinion is MINE, love it or hate it. And her being intelligent is only a benefit or blessing, if she USES it to help society or others. If she grows up and decides to be pompous and have a superiority complex like some intellectuals, then her INTELLIGENCE really doesn't mean anything to..

Elise is such a beautiful little girl;she looks big to be only 2 years old. more Black parents need to follow her parents example and purchase educating toys or books for their children when they are babies. She will probably attend an ivy league college such as Oxford University in England;By the time she reach 18,her i.q may be 300! I wish her well.
Of course she's smart. *** don't play when it comes to education. In 2006 according to a census that was taken *** held more degrees than any other ethnic group when you compare their numbers to other groups in the U.S. and this was a census taken in the U.S. They beat out whites, Asians, hispanics and all other African and groups here as well even though *** make up a smaller percentage. In the culture if you don't have at least a bachelors then it's considered a failure. 9 times out of ten if you meet a *** then they either have a degree or their working towards one.

I guess my son ha a high IQ. He just turn three in January. He already reading on a kindergarten level, can spell my name as well as his father first and last name. He knows how to type(about 20 words accuracy), surf the net, check email, can count to 30. I was watching her on the news and she was naming the capitals of some countries. Then they cut to people(adults) on the street and most of them couldn't name one. So, give her the credit she deserves. Most parents these days are too busy teaching their girls Chris Brown/T.I songs and how to booty dance and don't take the time to teach them anything worth while.

Every country defines blackness different. To me, if a person say they are bi-racial, then I consider them that. In America, the white man inslaved the light skinned mixed people with the black, which he helped to produce light skin, and even brown-skin African Americans back in the day.The old Black American elite were mostly all bi-racial, Fredrick Douglas, Booker T. Washington, W.E.B Dubois & even the President! America use's the light skin black as a buffer because they fear dark skinned, it reminds them of Africa and their shame. Now, most blacks are mixed in ever shade and complexion.

What I always like to know is...How do they pick up, retain, and comprehend sooo much info!?! It's been proven that using flash cards, playing Mozart, etc doesnt significantly increase a child's IQ... so I'm guessing that it must be some type of photo graphic memory...but that still doesnt explain the comprehension part....i need to do some research.
this girls something special... giving shes the youngest to be considered by Mensa. shes either going to be a huge success when shes grown up or a tragic story. that kinda gift can either make you or brack you. giving shes only 2 still, they come out with these stories every year or so in the uk. when all the hype & media attention falls quite for her, there will only be another "youngest and brightest" to take the spot light. leaving this girl and many b4 her sitting in the dark with their 'gift'.
I don't think that this girl is the female equivalent of Barack Obama. While President Obama favors both parents, right down the middle, this child clearly favors the mother.

Actually, the ideas that I espouse, are "out of the box". Versus, well, back in the day, if you had one drop of black blood, well, you were supposed to be considered African or Negro.
