: MediaTakeOut.com just caught wind that actress Janet Hubert, the first Aunt Vivian on the Fresh Prince of Bel Air is writing some kinda tell-all book. Apparently she’s still hot about getting fired and replaced from the show in 1993 by actress Daphne Maxwell Reid.
Here’s what she said about Don Cheadle’s minor role on the series:

Do you know how much staying on a show as successful as that could've gotten her more work once it was over? Loved the orignial Aunt Viv she was some kinda spicy on the show...She had a mind of her own..Its ashame that we as people don't know how to treat others, as much as I love Will Smith, I can see him having a big ego..It's ashame he didn't realize that everyone has a job to do and the original was doing a great job to make the show work on a whole..the Daphne Maxwell Reid was terrible on that show and I love her also..but she didn't work. wills a big star and what happend like 15 years ago isnt going to affect him now. everyone else from the show seemed to like him. no one else said anything.

I luv aunt viv complexion. She had nice skin tone and you could tell she was a dancer because she had a lean muscular figure. I liked her sassiness to the show and thought her character kept it real although the character lived in a nice neighborhood. The other one was pretty too but boring.
But that is just me though.

I think she's gotten where she is because of Will. Jada really didn't have that much star presence until later on after her arrangement with Will. Cause you know divorce is not an option.....

Wow, I always wanted to know what happened with that whole situation! Fresh Prince is and will always be my favorite show!!! But I notice that this happened a lot, with the first cast member(dark skinned) being replaced with a light skinned cast member! It has happened on family matters, fresh prince, and my wife and kids...don't act like yall don't notice that! It's a shame too because I thought the 1st aunt vib was the best. She was very strong willed and played the role perfectly. When the new one came in it seemed like she didn't know a *** thang! But that's still my show though!

Funny thing no one seemed to ask themselves why is it that Will Smith is the only one still making movies? And to be honest he was one of the worst actors on that series.
The new Aunt Viv was BS, she was/ is married to Reid, who if i'm not mistaking was an exec. producer together with Quincy Jones. Thing is *** is as *** does. Will Smith HAD to do something in order to get where he is. It wasn't until 2007 will has been cast for different kinds of roles. So how can you claim he's one of the best actors. Please!!!!

I loved her as aunt Vivian. Her figure was so nice. I think she was much better than the other lady who played Aunt Vivian because the other woman seemed to homely for me plus the first aunt vivian was way more believable. But, what I can't seem to figure out is how everybody continued watching the fresh prince after she was replaced like it was nothing? Even I didn't really notice the difference until now. For some odd reason I still remember how Harriet was replaced by that lady who played gina's mama off of "martin". I guess I remembered that because the second Harriet was terrible actress.
I always thought that Janet Hubert was a brilliant,beautiful and talented actress.She played Aunt Viv way better than Tim Reid's wife,Darlene.What Janet is saying is very true.There were always clashes on the set between Will and Janet,he was responsible in her being fired.I feel that Janet should have gotten her due and the respect that she was entitled to.Hollywood are full of racism,and cutthroat dealings . Fresh Prince of Bel Air no longer had that spark once Janet was fired.In fact,not long after janet was gone,that shows ratings began plummeting and then,the season ended
I loved the 1st Aunt VIV. She played the role to a T. And then along came this high yellow, boring *** character to play Aunt VIV. Don't get me wrong, I am light skinned and I have nothing against light skin, but Janet was the best. She was funny and she was like a true aunt.
I thin they put the light bright on the show to try and make it more popular and appeal to the white folk. NOT!!!
I really loved her in that role on the show. I was definitely shocked and saddened to see her go. I could never really get into Ms Reid as the mother, not that she didn't do a good job, it was just that it was overshadowed b/c she was replacing someone else who pretty much owned that character. I think Janet Hubert has the right to tell her story and speak her truth. Maybe she needs the closure b/c it seems she was blackballed after whatever happened with that show.
