It was ok, I was expecting to see Chris Brown perform..... When they announced ppl, they didn't show say who was in the catagory. Beyonce's performance was soooooo Not Good, she was trying to be different, but it was boring. And What happened to A tribute to Michael Jackson? Like I said it was ok! Jamie Foxx did a Great Job..lol kept me laughing.....

I don't think it was the worst, maybe not my favorite. I think a lot of the original material was scrapped because they wanted to honor Michael Jackson. Now to go behind the scenes, I think the director should be fired- all of that dead air after the people would perform and winners were announces. Could it have been a little better- absolutely!!!
The show wasn't that bad. It was a big improvement 4rm last year. WAAAAAAY better b/c last year was so boring I don't even remember it. I feel that Jamie's jokes were harmless, everybody knows he meant no harm. The performances could have been better. Was definitely feeling Jay Z, the O'Jays tribute, and Ne-Yo old school RnB dedication. Disappointed about Chris Breezy though.

Michael Jackson's death, hearing his music and watching his groundbreaking videos just puts the spotlight on how bad the music industry has become. The majority of the artist that were on stage last *** do not deserve to be called artist. Black music is no longer classy or sophisticated and has lost it's soul. Most of the artist that are out now are manufactured commercial artist. No talent necessary. MJ's death just marks an end of an era. Really sad. BET needs to be *** down immediately.

I'll give BEt an A for effort, considering the timeframe they had, but here are my takes on some of the happenings at the awards show.
1-The Lil Wayne performance with Young Money and Drake was surreal...why you singing a song about *** every girl in the world with your daughters on stage dancing around Drake and the whole performance was dam near a bleep. MJ didn't have to use cuss words to get a hit record!
2-Beyonce performance was ok but you have to remember she is in the middle of her tour and she said I'm taking it easy *** because I want to give my all to the paying fans
Eddie Lavert - was hysterical. It was great seeing the OJays. Beyonce - singing Ava Maria in that frock was a waste of space. Fat Bobby w/ his tongue out - screams it was meal time. Tiny - we get she is here to stay long as TI is relevant but time for her to learn to talk. Mary Mary - put some clothes on, they remind me of Salt and Pepper. Monica - shame she never became more. Keisha - *** sing on stage with anyone that sings better than her. Jaime- always talking about what man turn him on whats up with that. Great show overall though. Ok they only had 3 days to try & turn the show around, I think it was mean not to include chris brown & usher was in paris so we had no one there to sing the his that most of the young people luv like P.Y.T and don't stop til u get enough. But they did good w/what they had. Ne-yo had me in tears, ciara can sing a lil bit and the closing was awesome. The MTV awards are gonna be a bigger tribute but they have a couple of months to prepare so it will not seem fair when that show airs cuz it will be better. Sorry BET....

It was basically a three and a half hour long advert for Jamie Foxx's album and tour. I thought that was completely disrespectful for him to promote himself that much. I was looking forward to Beyonce, but it was really boring and self-indulgent. And this Drake guy...wtf is all the fuss about? He was awful, no stage presence or charisma whatsoever. Seeing Janet up there completely broke my heart, she looked devastated. So sad.

I was disappointed. The show was classless, tasteless and ghetto. Thanks to Jamie Fox who set the tone with is Boa Constrictor jokes and sexual references. Didn't care for Bey's set, little out-of-touch and spacey, but her voice was beautiful. Glad Ne-Yo finally took his hat off. I though Ciara's and Maxwell's performances were classy. Keisha Cole and Monica looked and sounded great to me. Loved the O'Jays minus Eddie's cussing.
BET awards sucked, I only watched because they said they were doing a tribute to Michael Jackson; However, I did not see that...having artists remembering moments with MJ is not a tribute; what should have happened was, the artists who were there last *** to perform should have performed Michael Jackson's songs and just for that *** put away their lame music to the world, so that the younger generation could see what real talent is or was

I think BET SHOULD DO a full-on tribute to do this properly and invite all the proper celebs to pay tribute to the real KING!I looked at Soulja Boy during the O'Jays performance and the poor child looked like he didn't even know what was going on while he hopping off of beds and ish. BET needs to learn how to take themselves seriously and think about the acts that they bring to the show. These young kids must be introduced to the Oldies that made the Newbies. TEACH'EM!

OK, everyone is either too stupid or don't understand that awards are put together months in advance...production numbers, props, musicians,dancers, stars who going to pass out awards. There is a lot of things going on. And then there is 600 lb Gorilla in the room. Michael Jackson's death. BET deserves much credit for doing a decent tribute to MJ in the last minute. Cause these white shows would thrown some 5 minute montage,and uncle toms/MTO would had loved it.
Neyo sang an incredible rendition of "The Lady In My Life". Simply Beautiful. Beyonce: I feel that she is so self absorbed like no sense of others. She is so focused in becoming the legend that she can't seem to thank the legends before her and pay homage. Just a little humility Bey would be attractive. Take a page out of MJ's book & put your $$ where your mouth is. New Edition I thought was good considering they had no time so give them a litle break ya'll. BET, new managment is in order as you all are not bringing positive images of the new generation. Lil'Wayne, get to rehab, now. Drake. .
Debra Lee should be FIRED! She should be embarrassed. I totally understand the reason for changing up the show at the last minute and I'm sure they put hard work into that *** of a show but that was HORRIBLE! Again BET has made the black community look bad. Hyping this award show over CNN brought and gained major publicity and look what everyone tuned into…HOT GARBAGE. MJ would never commit to being a part of an award show that's unorganized, rushed, or uncompleted. BET should have waited till next year to do a well produced award show or created a special later on throughout the week or month with artist acknowledging MJ. Everyone would have understood continuing the award show due to his untimely death, especially since it looked like that. Also, it looked like BET didn't even screen artists performances for the show. Some artists should have not performed at all however some artist did very good and showed a lot of class. Our youths and families all over the world tuned in to this madness. Everyone at BET should be ashamed for this. I hope they can recover from this and give MJ a true respectful tribute. Matter of fact they need to just hire ME!

I can understand the show takes months to put together, but last year's wasnt that great either and it was done ahead of time. The show was ok especially to be last minute. I honestly thought all the artist would be singing a micheal jackson song, but i guess not. Some choose to dress like him (keri hilson) and thats fine. I didn't like Ving Rhymes comments at all and i didn't like how Jamie Fox kept pushing his tour. Beyonce looked tasteless and should have done something better but then again in my opion...the only thing she cares about is herself . It was AWFUL!!!! I waited weeks to see this and it was just horrible! Jaime Foxx tried to promote himself a lil too much for me and he was disrespectful at times, not funny. Beyonce's usually the ***, last *** she almost made me go to sleep. Tired of seeing her in the *** too, we know you have a nice body, now put some clothes on. I used to love Keith Sweat as a child, he was awful, sound like he was sick or something and the other old groups didn't do to good either. I did like the Ojays though. I loved Tyrese and Neyo. I agree with the person that said that Keyshia should not do a duet with someone that can sing much better than her. Monica stomped all over poor Keyshia and she wasn't even trying. Secondly, I think that we need to let up off Beyonce on this one, the girl song Ave Maria, if you don't know what it is, look it up and you would know the relevance of her singing it on the show. Was Ving Rhames drunk? His a** didn't make any sense at all. Once I saw the 12 year old girls on stage w/Weezy, I changed the channel. I missed Janet because of it. In my opinion every since that lady took over BET the awards has been awful, when Bob Johnson was over BET they were on point! i was disgusted at beyonces choice of clothes during her performance. i mean, will this woman die if she sings her songs fully clothed??? she was the ONLY woman on the stage last *** in her underwear.
i bet at home she sometimes takes her clothes off, wears her heels and prances around just to feel NORMAL. talk about a programmed robot!

My prayers goes out to Joe and Catherine as well as the Jackson Family, But Death is not suppose to be a sad moment it is when we should rejoice. In my City we really celebrate death with Music, food and fun. A wise man once said that you should not cry when a love one die you should smile and celebrate for they are truly in a beter place For the time that we should cry is when a new baby comes into this sinful world.

I so agree. I can't believe they were trying to say this was going to be a good show. No it wasn't. Almost everyone there looked like they'd rather be somewhere else. They skipped through all the awards practically for those weak performances. I actually thought Jaime was funny and uplifting. Keri Hilson - I love her but that dancing *** she was doing was ridiculous. Soulja Boy? - Need I say more New Edition - LAWD HAVE MERCY THAT WAS AWFUL Drake, Weezy and Young Money - they were a let down ZZZZ I forget who else performed because it was that bad. What a boring *** show.
The parts I saw was ok. I think they did the best they could being overwhelmed with Michael's death. I missed the first half hour and Don Corneilus and Ving Rhames were embarrassing. I felt Janet's pain when she spoke about Michael. It's so sad, My heart aches thinking about how his spirit was crushed. May he R.I.P.
BET Awards 09: The Good, The Bad, and the Tribute
When I woke up yesterday morning although well advertised watching the BET Awards was not on my things to do list. It wasn’t until I turned on my television at exactly 7pm and saw the opening act I couldn’t stop watching it. Half of the reason I couldn’t stop watching it was unbelief and the other half was my expectation that eventually the *** would improve.
Historically, opening acts on awards shows are powerful, creative, unique, talentful, energetic productions that set the tone of the rest of the show. Obviously, the opening act was put together in 2-3 days and that’s exactly what it looked like. I enjoyed the costumes even the synchronized dancing of the middle aged men. One problem, Michael Jackson sung that song when he was like 9 years old. Ralph tried the best he could, but New Edition sounded out of breath and struggled to reach the notes. Then Jamie Fox came out with his Beat it Costume on. Oh Jamie Fox! I really really like Jamie Fox, but it seemed that since it was announced that he would be hosting the BET awards he was trying to prove that he was worthy of the title. I wasn’t impressed with Jamie’s Beat It impression, his thrown together routine afterwards, and his moonwalk at the end.
If I were to have directed the opening act I would have auditioned kids Michael’s age to begin and do the early song followed by a full scale Beat it number. If you are going to do Beat it, do it with full choreography, and more than 3 background dancers on the stage.
The entire *** I felt like this was the Jamie Fox and Neo Show. Why oh why did they sing so many songs? I disagree with them throwing together a tribute for The King in 3 days. Why not organize another tribute later in the year?
If the show was taped live why oh why would you let celebrities get on the mic and talk about how they felt about Michael Jackson? Genuine needs to stick to singing, as a matter of fact why in the world was he not on stage singing instead of Jamie for the 100th time?
The celebrities presenting awards had the deer in the headlights look half the *** as well. I know they asked 3 celebrities to present 2 awards at a time to save time, but they didn’t even announce many of the nominees. We didn’t know what competition each winner beat out. I know the Star Trek actress was a trailblazer for all African American women, but didn’t someone backstage tell her to use the bathroom 15 minutes before it was time for her to go out?
Most of the non Michael Jackson Tribute performances were REALLY good. I have a lot of respect for Keri Hilson who performed well. I wasn’t into the ending that she made up in the bathroom the day before, but the rest of the dance seemed well rehearsed and entertaining. It’s really difficult to sing and dance at the same time and she did both of those things well. Why didn’t Kanye perform with her? After looking at his girlfriend I’m really considering shaving my head. It really looked good on her! Jamie’s Blame it performance was also very good. The drummer killing it at the end sealed the deal. Was Snoop supposed to rap or did I miss it? Once again TPain looked a mess with that chain on, but obviously that is the kind of attention he wanted from purchasing such a ridiculous piece of jewelry. I have to say one more thing about TPain: If you ever ever win an award again please oh please don’t bring the Red Solo cup up with you, definitely don’t say, “Louis Vuitton get at me”. Why would Louis Vuitton even send you their catalog with the style in clothing you have?
Mary Mary’s performance was excellent because they did what they did best they sang! The Queen coming out was refreshing. Their performance made me feel good and renewed. Maxwell also tore it up! He looked great he sounded great, and what ever came flying from the ceiling was off the hook!
Beyonce needed to try again. Bey is known for her energetic production numbers yet she chose slow Michael Jackson songs, why? If she was going to sing Michael Jackson which I prefer she didn’t Bey should have chosen a high energy number and spent those 3 days rehearsing choreography. Most people don’t watch Bey because she can sing. Bey, leave that standing still singing to Whitney Houston!
I appreciated Keith Sweat and Guy, but I loved BBD. They still got it. If they come to tour I will definately be there.
Jayz has a God Given talent. That song was awesome and highly appropriate.

OJays oh the Ojays! I know the BET Lifetime Achievement Awards usually last a Lifetime, but this was ridiculous. Out of the 3 hours and 42 minutes this show took the Ojays had to have taken at least 42 of those minutes. Don Cornelius needed a chair and a *** script with big words in hand! Tevin Campbell was one of the BEST singers there last *** even though he looks 10 years older than he really is. Whoever picked the Ojays did a good job picking Johnny Gil and I was thoroughly impressed with Tyrese’s performance. Trey Songs should have changed places with Ginuine in the audience. Johnny Gil is such a great singer and performer. I enjoyed the OJays performance, but it was entirely too long. They had a mini concert!
Tiny should never ever accept an award for her man again! It took her 10 minutes to get to the podium, and she said to T.I., “You’re still the king” No Tiny, Michael Jackson is the King ***, didn’t you get the Memo?
The Baby Boy cast will never be allowed to present an award together again. BET will get fined for all the cussing.

I was looking forward to Little Wayne’s performance until it happened. I will admit that Drake looks like a man that I would absolutely be in love with in college. He is articulate and cute, but the entire performance was a hosh posh. With the video behind it and all the random walking of Cash Money I was confused. The guys are cussing on stage yet about 5 little girls wander on stage and dance next to Drake. One of the girls had on a tutu. The words of the song is I like girls. Wayne use your head are you trying to tell us something? Highly inappropriate. Next time Wayne get a Director to help you with your production. Walking around on stage and having your video in the background is not acceptable behavior for an awards show. And you’re cussing with kids on the stage? Deplorable.
I really liked the fact that though in pain Janet came and thanked BET. She looked beautiful. I could never do something like that.
Finally the finale. Finally the finale! WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT? There were at least 30 singers in the audience. Why couldn’t BET find some risers put all them up there and have them sing We Are The World? Give Chaka, Jennifer Hudson, Levert, and Anthony Hamilton the solos and call it a day? I’ll Be There was appropriate, but I was tired of hearing Neo and Jamie sing.
Next time BET do one or two good Production Numbers for the king and do an individual tribute as opposed to combining everything. That was a mess!

Yeah I thought this was the worse Bet awards show. They could have had better performances for Michael Jackson. I thought GUY sounded terrible and as much as I love Beyonce she should have done a Michael Jackson song. The BET awards were great I am reading all the blogs but nobody said anything about GUYS performance..WTF happened to Aaron Hall he sounded like garbage..For it to be a last minute tribute honoring Michael Jackson
The show was VERY tacky! Soulja Boy and Drake were good, but Lil' Wayne and etc. *** the show up! BET could gotten better performers, and Breezy would been a slap in the face to MJ. Cause it was supposed to be a "MJ tribute" and Chris Brown would have brought negative attention to show. Overall I give it (the show) an C+. Did like the Ojay's though.
I thought the same thing. I didn't even know Janet (besides her dad) was there because I turned the TV off after Jamie did the Moonwalk. It was poorly put together. I thought everyone that was set to perform was going to do one of Michael's songs. They should have left it alone and originally gone ahead what was already planned and THEN had a tribute show separately set for another day.

The MAIN reason I watched was to see the tribute to Michael. Everyone tuned in to see that. I missed the beginning of the show last ***, but I will talk about what I was able to see anyways...
-Joe Jackson...hmm. I don't know why some celebs got on the stage and gave him accolades. Didn't he beat Michael and abuse him? I saw later on the interview w/ him on the Red Carpet; Joe seemed like everything was alright in his world. I didn't see an ounce of sorrow from him. Kudos to Janet for being brave to speak to the audience and express the family's feelings. I figured she would discuss it.
WHATEVER MTO BOSTON was in the HOUSE last ***....New Edition was good because it had Bobby Brown instead of *** sucking Johnny Gill....and BBD RIPPED IT!!!and *** JOE JACKSON thank you Idris Elba for thanking Catherine Jackson she was behind her son 100% Ne yo did great too....but what the HELL WAS funky *** Beyonce doing???
It was a disaster. That's what happens when you throw something together at the last minute to try and cash in on the ratings of MJ's death. That's why I flipped the channel the first 15 minutes. I did happen to tune in again during the O'Jays and their performance was fantastic. The new generation of singers can't even compare.
- Jamie Foxx was wack and & corny like I knew he was gonna be. The only thing I liked from him was the final performance w/ Ne-Yo. -Don Cornelius took forever to finish talking...
-Keyshia & Monica were kinda boring...

-Didn't pay attention to the O'Jays (i'm not too familiar with their music)
-HORRIBLE PERFORMANCE: Lil Wayne, Drake, Birdman, etc. All that cussing and stuff wasn't necessary. The girls they brought up there look like teenagers. I put my TV on mute after the first 2 cuss words. I was DONE.
I blieve they TRIED to do their best. Everybody is hurt and still hurting SHOCKED. Jamie was being jamie (he is that reltive you don't pay any attention too) he was trying his best. I expected more from Ms. Beonce, I don't know why she has to dress like that all the time. She is very skinny. I believe it was a cathloc song? I don't care for JayZ, He is wrong and arrongrant. Who the hell is he not to allow my son, Chris Brown to dance for his idol? The Ojays, Ne-yo (he is okay), were geat. I am not a Keyshia Cole fan, she is okay. They just looked like two amateurs singing
I did not like the "Joey" thing it was tacky and the cussing and disrespecting has to stop. If you are going to represent the Jackson family, do it with taste. They always gave god the glory, their family and fans. A true american family. show some respect and you will gain respect. I hope they do no show this show again. Ginuwine look great too :)
the show was good last ***.... remember ..they changed the whole show around in 3 days... acts got bumped to add the tribute to MJ... the show would have been better without Beyonce, Ciara, Soljah boy, drake & lil wyane & did birdman perform. if so him too... Jamie Killed it paid good homage to MJ.. Ne-yo Killed it...Jay-Z DESTROYED it... Glad he cut his hair... hell I woulda been happier to see Day26 onstage besides some of the aforementioned people that was wack ... all in all .. good show for such a *** time to get it together for the tribute

Trey Songz is underated. His voice is soooo nice and he is fine!!!!!! Tyrese, Trey and Johny did a nice job. I love Beyonce but her performance last *** was off. Her costume was ridiculous. it just didnt mesh for me. Shes usually a ***, but fell ***. Drake and Weezy....Nah I wasnt feeling that at all. Jay-z was amazing as always. Neyo and Jaimee fox duet was amazing. Janet made me cry. Alicia Keys is effortlessly flawless. She is eloquent and classy. O and I loved the whole Baby boy skit...Minus Vhing Rhames.
Jamie Foxx was not disrespectful you are! He tried to make it a celebration of Michael's life not a f*cking funeral. It was last minute and honestly it was good for last minute. Just because Beyonce didn't shake her azz you want to call her performance a snoozer? Get some class and culture. Do you realize that she basically sang opera at the BET AWARDS?!?!?! The tribute to the O'Jays was the best and the old school male groups were gettin' down too...Keith Sweat and BBD did their thing. Eddie Levert had me rollin' cause at the moment he forget where he was....that's what made it funny..yall forget this man lost 2 sons that also sang.

NE- Did their best...it wasn't great but they tried.
Jaime Foxx- He had only a few days to come up with new material and I think he did ok. I LMAO when he had the girl waving his jacket to make a "wind tunnel" effect! I don't think he went to far.
Don Cornelius- Somebody PLEASE put a battery in his back...I fell asleep, woke up, got a beverage, checked on my kids, gave my husband some, ironed my clothes for work while I was up, sat back down to watch the show and he was STILL talking!! AWFUL!
Ciara & Keri- Both need to sit DOWN!
Monica & Keyshia- Monica stole her shine
It was garbage...... Neyo and Jamie's dedication was decent. I understand the last minute changes etc. BUT BET, should have left the show as planned, acknowledged Michael's passing with again Neyo and Jamie's performance. They should have asked Chris Brown to perform, and planned a whole dedication show to Michael, hell they should have honored him years ago..

I don't get Drake, but hey, I lotta ppl do, so good for him. I missed Keyshia when I turned to the food channel.

I actually thought Jamie Foxx did a pretty good job! Ne-yo did his thang! Keri Hilson's performance was cool! I wasn't really feelin' my nicca Drake (he sat down the whole time) and young money's performance. All and all this wasn't one of the better BET award shows but that had a lot to do with the fact that they were tryin' 2 honor the King with *** notice so I commend them for effort!
That was AWFUL. They should've went on a did the regular awards show and did a seperate show for MJ. You don't throw no GARBAGE together for him. When Neyo sung Lady in My Life I shed a few tears. BET really has to do better!!! Maxwell, The O'Jays, Ne-Yo, Tevin Campbell and Monica is what saved that show. Weezy and Drake, especially Weezy need to get some home training and show some respect. Every other word was beeped out, there's a time and place for everything. This could have been organized better and Chris Brown should have been allowed to do the salute to Michael. Not one Motowner was there to pay tribute to Michael either. Were they invited? I'd preferred them as to that nasty mouthed lil' Wayne. I'll await a proper tribute to Michael. BET sunk to a new low.

New Ediion did a good job to me too. They may be losing their voices but their professionalism showed in their foot work and the way they hit every step. No matter what goes on in their personal lives...they take performing seriously and I was proud of them even Bobby!

The BET awards was more of a roast for Michael Jackson than a memorial/dedication for him. There was really not that many ppl that performed that was close to Michael, where was Chris Tucker who btw would have been a better host, Usher, Chris Brown, Justin Timberlake,Madonna,Prince, & Diana Ross? MTO you guys got this one wrong. I think this was a really great show. JAmie Foxx was a little off at times, but I think he kept it one hundred. And his preformaces were the best to, me. The show was not all that bad. Jaime was funny why should he play it safe instead of talking that real stuff that we like to laugh at about MJ. New Edition had to be called because no other boy band out now really deserves to tribute the Jacksons. Loved Ciara and Neyo solo performaces. Beyonce was full of herself with that wannabe opera. They should have had a better MJ montage.

Take away the 12 mins. of an almost 4 hour show that dealt with MJ, and you are left with another boring BET show. Long, over rated, false advertisment for higher ratings... Highly disappointing show.
I understand there was only so much time, but these are supposed to be professionals... obviously, minus a few moments, this show bombed as did Debra Lee. She is helping BET stay in the toilet.

Trey Songs came up! Keri Hilson throws me off with her performance outfits, way too boyish without the Ciara *** appeal. Loved the Ojays tribute even Tevin Campbell rocked it. Jayz was not all that. Why is Drake getting all this shine. Is it because light skinned brothers are making a comeback. I don't see real talent there. And Weezy does not need to perform live. Keyshia, Monica, and Mary Mary were entertaining.
Yeah, I wasn't feelin it either. Jamie was borderline disrespectful and then had the nerve to try to turn in into to Jamie Foxx Show!

I didn't really like the awards that much this year. Beyonce disappointed me. I was waiting for her to rip it up. She just needs to save that performance for her tour only and not for any award show. Lil' Wayne and the crew *** have had those young girls on stage. Those little girls looked lost and they weren't right for the song. What happened to Chris Brown though??? I was waiting on his performance. The O'Jays, Tyrese, Johnny, Trey Songz, Ne Yo, and Tevin were good last ***. Poor Drake...he was limping. Besides that the awards were so so. I did like that Wanda and Sheneneh skit.
