: MediaTakeOut.com is sad to report another senseless killing of an athlete. Last night former welterweight boxing champion Vernon Forrest was murdered by carjackers in Atlanta.
Here’s what happened. Vernon pulled his Jaguar into a gas station to put air in the tires around 11 p.m. last night. That’s when two goons pulled up in a red Chevrolet Monte Carlo and tried to carjack him.
Luckily, Vernon had his gun with him, so he pulled it out – and started running after the suspects. But that’s when things went terribly wrong!!! MediaTakeOut.com learned that after a brief foot chase, the goons exchanged fire with Vernon and Vernon was struck once in the head. He died almost immediately.
Such a SAD story. If anyone knows ANYTHING about this senseless killing, please contact the local authorities. Or if you’re scared of talking to the police, send in what you know to us at tips@mediatakeout.com – we’ll pass it onto the police WITHOUT disclosing your name.
God bless him and his family. I found a couple of issues that I want to address. First, no one should ever go to any gas station after dark...period. Second, never chase after car thieves. Simply call the police and let them handle the matter. Now the brother is dead over a car that could have been replaced or recouped by the police and the crooks are still alive, with his car!
Hate to say it, but you gotta be extra careful about doing business(ATM's, Gas stations etc) in predominately black neighborhoods late at ***.
Sad that we have to live like this, extra set of rules about how to take out your wallet, purse, etc ....and you still can fail...hummm...

This indicates 'they' were on the run (why running if they are in cars???) and if they were running, that means, he was free to go- right? I don't think people use good COMMON SENSE these days. Vernon's murder did not happen the way MTO reported. According to Atlanta police "*** were exchanged, police said. Giving up the chase, and turning to return to the gas station, Forrest was *** seven to eight times in the back, according to police.
Police say the *** and a second suspect left in a red Monte Carlo."
